my 1991 pickup will start great cold, and warm if you dont let it sit for more than a minute or maybe two, but after that it cranks a long time before it starts, any ideas? Since it happened I have changes spark plugs, egr delete, vacuum delete, new injectors, all that helped a small amount.
For me what ended up being the main culprit was my fuel pump. For some reason after the truck was warm the computer/in combination with(AFM) wouldn’t power my fuel pump. I would try jumping your your fuel pump the next time it doesn’t start. It may also be that you need to adjust the AFM to better calibrate your motor after some of your repairs you’ve done. There are videos on that! Hopefully that information will help you!
They are amazing. I have messed with many parts and electronics, I had it in driving condition but had another issue come up. Messed with the timing and it was not it, ignition timing was recently set as well so it wasn’t that. At that time with the problem in the video I was dealing with poor sensors and connectors for both cold start injector switch and engine temp sensor. Voltage was also an issue prohibiting my sensors to get an accurate reading to actually run the engine properly. Have a new problem as I do every month, may or may not post it just as a little vid explaining what I did. Maybe it’ll help others who have terrible luck with 22res’ like myself.
Sorry for the late reply. The root cause of my problem turned out to be my timing chain. It broke one of the plastic guides (God knows when), which consequently messed up everything.
I know it’s a late reply but my problem after all said and done was simply my timing. The Timing chain guide broke causing the timing to be funky. The chain scored into the block from it being sooooo bad.
After I bought new sensors and ran that for a winter everything seemed to work but still funny at times. Currently I’m in the garage working on the truck and found out that my timing chain guide has broke. That must be my culprit, because my chain is all loose. I never bothered to check my timing until now. If you have a weird firing issue then I’d maybe suspect that your timing chain may need an inspection.

Not sure if this is part of that problem but it surges sometimes while idling.

@@cjwilson777 Your problem was your fuel pump not holding enough pressure... Fuel rail was with little pressure or empty
Ever found out the issue?

Green one send signal to computer. Computer knows how hot engine is.
Only for computer.
