Thank you so much for posting this video! I am working on a VB right now (with replacement headset from ebay) that has this issue, and am thankful I have the equipment for this.
I needed this information, thanks again duder! Every other guide on this that I've seen is armature hour involving ovens and irons. This channel is such an amazing recourse.
I did my best but several of my conductors came up while soldering. RIP my hopes of fixing my virtual boy. It's destined for display now, sad it won't be played again.

Definitely! Paul from RGA is a friend and I did see his video. However, the method that we both posted about is actually much older and comes from the Planet Virtual Boy forums
Fix it Friday Baybe! Virtual boy for the win, very cool to see

It can still be saved. There’s another option that can be installed if the flex cable is destroyed: segasonicfan.wixsite.com/retro/virtual-ribbon
@@LIRetroGaming amazing! Thanks for all your help and the fantastic videos!
Aftter 05:59 (ish), is that not two bridges clearly visible?
Those connections are ground and they are supposed to be bridged together like that

Yeah it’s a really fun system to own
How hot did you have the iron?
It was set to 750 degrees Fahrenheit
Do you ever do work on x68000's?
Yes I have repaired one in the past
Wish I would've kept my Virtual Boy.. I sold it a few years ago like a dummy. :/
