I’m partial to uromastyx as my first pet reptile was a uro. He passed a few years ago, but I recently welcomed a hatchling into the family! I love preparing the salads and watching them eat and skitter around. 😍
I didn't even realize there were Egyptian Uromastyx! The whole reason I want one is because they're herbivores. I love lizards, but I can't bring myself to handle insects. Dead rats to my snakes? No problem. Bugs just wig me out 😂
Uromastyx are my all time favorite reptile. Their personalities can very so widely, and they are always entertaining once they've gotten used to the sounds and noises of the house, and have made up their own routine. And they are trainable to an extent.
I actually just adopted a Chuckwalla recently! He is still pretty young, maybe 8-9 inches long. The lady at the exotics place told me," Make sure you feed them veggies and insects, they have the exact same diet as Beardies." And I was like That's... not quite right...
Plants are living! Russian Tortoise completely wiped out all of the plants that were planted in his box. He took no prisoners. On the plus side, I can split a salad with him.
It's not like you're the one eating them, though, lol. I don't think anyone will be questioning if you're sticking to your diet when rats are the only thing in there.

Some species of uromastyx are quite small like uromastyx ocellata, uromastyx thomasi, uromastyx princeps. Desert iguanas are pretty small compared to other iguanas and they are herbivorous.
There was a couple who used to live in my neighborhood that had a rhinoceros iguana and a tortoise. It was common to see at least one of the humans sitting on the front step of their home reading a book while the tortoise stomped around in the front yard nomming grass. The iguana liked to sit in the window and chill. During the time when they were still around, the iguana was getting used to a harness, so I assume by now wherever that lil' herp family is, the tortoise and iguana very well might chill outdoors together on a regular basis.
I just got a juvenile monkey tail at the expo in Toronto this weekend. So excited. I had my first monkey tail in ‘93. Super awesome for handling. My new girl girl is cage defensive but great once out. I really think these skinks are under rated.

I can imagine Tyler Nolan's ears pricking up when you mentioned rhino iguanas as your number one. He loves his Khaleesi and Drogo so much and from what you have told me and from what I've seen from his vids on them they seem like dope animals if you have the space for them
Man, rhino iguana looks so much like the pachycephalosaurus or however it's spelled... so cool to see and think about all the ways nature changes over time.
Uromastyx are the best - I have a Mali that is 19yrs old. Easy to care for once you get the enclosure right, and easy to shop for for food. You should do a Uromastyx video!

Ive had some experiences with live feed in the last year or so, had cricket keep me up at night that I had to wakeup the beardie just to get rid of them out of the tank and I would put the cricket keeper in the garage because they literally nonstop chirp for hours without pause, its unreal.

I’ve wanted a chuckwalla since I heard you can keep them as pets. They are native to my area so it’s something I could keep outdoors in a big enclosure. But being native I can’t legally purchase one, so I have to adopt one who is captive bred or get one that can no longer can be released or catch a wild one which is a no go for me on wild caught. Still on my wish list though always watching for the opportunity to get one legally and environmentally friendly.
U should do a pink tongued skink care guide because u obviously love them and i my self cant really find any new guides i can only find like 2 or 3 years old, plus the guides arnt very specific. I really want to get one but i dont know what substrate to use or how big of a tank i should put one in and it would be just so great if u could make a full guide on them

Just a little trivia, I have a yellow Uromastyx, he's about 4 y/o. He loves juvenile iguana food I get from either the pet store or Amazon. I do feed him flowers, purselane, and many other veggies.

I don't know why you don't like green iguanas. I've had several and absolutely loved them. If you get them as babies they're great. My last one though was a rescue. But very quickly became to trust us and love everyone. The thing I regret was when she got really big,no matter how large the enclosure she was miserable when she was in it. So eventually I let her roam the house she was very happy, but while we were away one day she climbed up to her favorite spot and I'm not sure what happened but she had obviously fallen and the vet said she had ruptured her organs. I was devistated and I held her while she gently went to sleep. That was 20 years ago and I still miss her. So no I don't think they're all bad pet's everyone I ever had was great.
I found a chuckwalla at a local pet store. It was cool, something you don't see often, and actually fun to handle. It was nice but didn't really sit still. Which can actually be quite fun. However, they were asking like $4-500. That's a little steep in my opinion.
I’m from the Mojave desert region of southern California where Chuckwallas, desert iguanas, and desert tortoises are native and I hope to keep some one day in an outdoor area.
I've heard of people who force a "vegan" diet on beardies and geckos, even cats and snakes because of their own ideology. This is so misguided and it's sad that someone's love for animals would lead them to hurt animals. Those folks need to watch this video and leave the keeping of carnivores and omnivores to those who can do so responsibly.
Idea for a video .. I don't know if you have or not a video for interaction or reptile with otter animals. Not recommend but will be cool and fun to see.
Plants are also living things.... and plants also contain protein.... FYI .... :D Trolloll. :D - Just cause you have mentioned at the start of the video "nothing living" and also a few other times in the video you implied that for protein one might need to feed insects/meat/animal-based protein. Actually there are quite a few plants that contain a high amount of proteins naturally.
My Russian tortoise is outside in his pen right now. And the box turtle is in another pan outside. They can only be out there a few months a year but I think it's very beneficial to them. I think I'm going to try to build something for my blue tongue skink to be able to live outside few months a year also.

I also hate bugs but they came with my wife and her animals..... Ive come to deal with them and I've even gotten some insectivores of my own now.
I think pinky mice can be fed to bearded dragons. If that helps or if it’s true. I don’t do this btw. I feed insects, not mice.

100%. My friend was vegan buy fed her lizard insects she said it was natural
that does not really happen lol, extremely rare occurrence but theres terrible people of all demographics

- Just cause you have mentioned at the start of the video "nothing living" and also a few other times in the video you implied that for protein one might need to feed insects/meat/animal-based protein. Actually there are quite a few plants that contain a high amount of proteins naturally.
Our local reptile shop in the twin cities has a rino cohabing with two tortoises. They have a small room to themselves.

My Russian tortoise is outside in his pen right now. And the box turtle is in another pan outside. They can only be out there a few months a year but I think it's very beneficial to them. I think I'm going to try to build something for my blue tongue skink to be able to live outside few months a year also.
