Does wearing a weighted vest during exercise help?
Вставка

- The stress to the bones that comes with weight baring or resistance exercises leads to great bone strength. So does adding more stress to the bones by wearing a weighted vest during exercise lead to even greater bone density? And, are there other possible benefits to wearing weighted vests during exercise?

as someone who is in nursing school, thank you for including references instead of just spouting things and expecting us to believe you. Empirical evidence matters.
Thanks. I’m glad you appreciate the difference. Wishing you all the best going forward with nursing school!
Loved the video and your sense of humor. I recently started where an adjustable weighted vest in the morning. I have noticed a difference. I have a daily goal of 15K steps per day. But I live by my “7 by 7” rule - to get 7K steps by 7am. This way I’m half way to my goal in the morning before I sit for 8hrs working in front of my laptop.
Please keep up the videos!!
Wow that's impressive. I love the 7x7 rule. Way to make it work for you! Thanks for the comments.

I am well. Thank-you for the kind words and for watching my video. I appreciate your support.
Good stuff. Deserves more views!
Thanks! Feel free to share.
Men have stronger bones because they have to bear the weight of their wife’s burdens too
You said it. Not me. LOL
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know, no one is forcing you to marry that wife you apparently hate and don't respect...
@@lilpetz500 it's a joke, it's not that deep
Are there any downsides to this or things you have to carefull about.
Excellent question. Thanks. If you have ankle, knee or hip problems, the weight of the vest may make things worse. Also, low back problems may get aggravated if there's too much side to side or front to back movement while wearing a weighted vest.
@drjakefitnessfacts In such cases, would ankle weights be a better choice, or maybe wrist and ankle weights?
@@drjakefitnessfactsdoes it help posture ?
@@drjakefitnessfactscan women do it
I have a 70lb weighted vest it was tough at first but it overall helped alot with posture and balance and overall i just felt better day to day activities seemed easier
That's great! It's a simple but so effective addition. Glad to hear to works for well for you. Thanks for the comment.
Yes it does
Good to hear this. Thanks!
Really appreciate this video 👏
I'm glad you like it and thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
Thank you❤❤❤
You’re welcome. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.
My only concern can it badly affect the disc in the spine?
Good point. But not with a quality vest at the recommend weight.
never go above 10 lbs. ideally around 4-7 pounds is super safe BUT you still feel it. 3 pounds or less is not really much...
Does weighted vest during running g has the same benefits. Should the weights be at the front or back for a 37 yr old male. Thanks
The extra weight while running could be too hard on the hips, knees and ankles. Plus osteoporosis is less of an issue in men. But, if anything, gradually adding weight to the back or equally to both back and front should be safe. Thanks for the question.
What weight should the vest be?
Start with one around 4-8 % of your body weight. I recommend one that you can add weight to and is comfortable.
Strap your wife on to your back that would heavy dumbbell but will do wonders in a short time
Thanks for the good info and laugh. 😃 Does it have to be an official weighted vest, or could we cheapskate diyers make our own using a backpack filed with books and / or a regular vest that we fill the pockets with rocks?
Good question. A backpack could work but might be too much for the lower back unless the weight in gradually increased. A regular but weighted vest could also work but with official vests the weight is equally distributed front and back with less initial stress on the body so you can start with a higher amount of weight. Thanks for the question.
Can anyone in the comments answer my question: Should I use a weighted vest (I am 14 years old)?
Sorry if I missed your question before. It will help increase bone density along with lifting weights and weight-bearing exercises. If you are doing those, you don't NEED a weighted vest but the added weight will add more stress to your bones increasing their bone density or strength.
@@drjakefitnessfacts thanks
Love the mention of incompetent men 🤣
Well that’s what I hear 😉 Thanks for watching.
