It’s always funny to me how much comfort I find in your channel. We have nothing in common. I’m not religious, I don’t have children, I live in a city with zero garden space (but I keep a balcony garden!), I work remotely so I’m always on the internet. But I always come to your channel and find myself feeling very healed and fulfilled. Very thankful! Maybe one day I can retire on a farm :)

      Me too.
I am a Muslim but I do believe . And I can relate to faith being important to one and one's family.
I don't can and have only a small family....
But these videos are just so soothing and insightful and inspiring.
      Thanks , Jessica !!

Jessica, your manner of explaining your experiences is just so wonderful. It is informative, kind and lacks judgement of how others do things, as it is clear that you know what works for you might not work for others and vice versa. Wanted you to know that it is noticed and appreciated. So many channels might have good information but it can be so buried in judgement and cynicism the good info gets lost. Thank you!

It is so funny how we are raised I went to public School but as I said I had the homestead like yours but did not want it as a adult. But my parents in law had a huge garden I helped with and my daughter did help to. My daughter learned how to work on cars to which she helps her husband now to. Her husband's mom is Mennonite and home schooled him he is the oldest of five. He did go to the vocational school for auto mechanics and college for it but did something different after college. His brother went for EMT and firefighter and after went to paramedic school he is now a paramedic firefighter. After he met my daughter she talked to his mom and she found out that they way I was raising Bethany that it was safe for girls to go to highschool and the youngest girl was able to go to high school. The girls left right at 18 the two middle ones and she wanted to help that not happen. The one thing Karl Bethany's found hard from being shut off he did not understand what people were talking about anything. He did not know what the Holocaust was because he had a religious based schooling. He had no idea about American pop culture which you don't think about. We were giving him a crash course he got made fun of at school because of it and had a studder.

It’s so refreshing to hear someone else who doesn’t lose baby weight until breastfeeding ends! I didn’t have my first baby until I was 34 (on my 3rd now. Also 6 months!). I thought that it was something I was doing. I’ve always put baby’s needs above losing weight like you mentioned. Just really nice to hear I’m not alone ☺ thank you for your content! ❤

I wanted to thank you so much for all the encouragement you give me each and every week. I appreciate you being so open about your beliefs and about showing the wonderful love you have for your family. I unfortunately lost my husband to Covid in October of 2021. He was only 58 and we had been married for 37 years. I have 2 grown daughters who still live here in our home. We have really gone through alot. We almost lost my oldest daughter to it as well but she was brought back to us by the Grace of God. Whenever I feel overwhelmed I have found watching your channel is an extreme source of encouragement. I see all the things your family goes through with food allergies and such busy days with so much to do, and I tell myself, if she can live life with all you do in a day, then I can do it too. Thank you for being so real. God Bless your whole family.

I just had to pause the video and write my first comment on your channel. Here I am, a 43y old mom of 3 ( 21y boy, 16y girl and 3y boy). We moved to USA from Romania 5 years ago and you can imagine how everything is new and overwhelming sometimes. Last year in May, my oldest son started having seizures out of the blue 😢. When you think hie’s big now and it’s about to start his adult life and it’s going to be more independent, everything seems to collapse … but my strength is My Lord Jesus…and we will not forget that He is in control of our lives and someday we’ll have an answer to all our questions.
In the meantime, I’ve learned a lot from you and others here on You Tube and it’s a blessing every time you upload a new video.
    May God bless you abundantly!

I just want to echo the sentiments of another commentator on your video. On the face of it, you and I have nothing in common. I’m older than you, living in England and my kids are grown with families of their own. I have a little veggie plot in my garden and get huge joy from picking something fresh and presenting it on the dinner table … so I guess that’s a link.
But mainly, I come here to listen to you, to watch you and your family facing unique challenges and dealing with them.
I’m not envious in any way but watching you and listening to your honesty brings me joy.
I admire what you are doing without wanting it for myself.
At the end of a long and busy day, watching your updates makes me feel peaceful.
So you aren’t teaching me about homesteading or home schooling or canning … you are just bringing me peace and joy.
Thank you and may the Lord bless you and your family.

Honey, I don't know how you get life done, much less videos and editing. Be sure you are taking time to do something for yourself during those two hours. I hope you will get time to go out with other girls, every woman needs other women to share, speak life into each you and visa verse. I admire you for putting yourself out there on UA-cam. Some of us have become shut-ins and seeing you reminds us our younger days. I promise you in 20 years... while it seems far away, you will appreciate time even more. I think we mellow out as we age. What we thought had to be done and get done just doesn't seem to be as important as we thought. That's actually a beautiful place in life sometimes. Savor the moments, even the craziness of schedules, diaper bags and exhaustion. You are living some of your best days, today. Thank you for taking us along. Have a wonderful day.

First, you are so thoughtful to your family about their likes and needs. Secondly, I feel as though when you share and speak it’s as if you are speaking to a friend (s) in a caring and from the heart manner. God has definitely used you to bless many. I’m 56 and 32 years ago my husband and I bought our first house, had four kids and were regular visitors to our local library, at least twice a week and got all the books, magazines, audiobooks and videos we desired . We saved thousands of dollars and were able to put that money into our retirement savings.

My son also had a peanut allergy. We'd had him tested along the path- and the final test was a food challenge last June- right before he left for college. I understand you wanting him to take the lead on saying OK to something like that. Our son was didn't want to do it for a couple years- but the new blood testing is very telling. The food challenge is a serious thing, and we all knew that. Him getting through that and NOT being allergic anymore has being freeing beyond words. The prayers I said for close to 18 years came through - I don't know how I would have handled his first year in the dorms without this testing. I totally understand how you run your household to protect and include him - been there and done that!

Hi Jessica, we don't know each other but feel like old friends!
I don't watch all your videos as I don't have time. (Better write plans more often as you keep reminding me!)
I'm just an ordinary mum too. I have 11 children aged 29 to nearly 9. Six boys and 5 girls.
But just a gentle warning. They get married quickly too!
So we now have 4 married, 1 courting, 7 grandchildren and we still have children at school!
My parents have now gone where it is "far better" for them, but we are now watching out for my dear in laws who are still at home together , doing their shopping, bits to garden etc.
After a couple of stints of home Ed in lockdowns, I do admire how you do it but think it's probably beyond me. Prob easier when you choose what they learn?
Plod on my dear. Life is ever on the wing with new twists and turns.
Enjoy each moment. My main regret is that I didn't go it all better. I'm still very much in the learning stage. Daily.
Best wishes to the family from ours in the UK where we have much smaller gardens. Ours is counted as a good size. 120 ft x 40ft!

I personally don't have many of the same religious beliefs as your family, but my respect for your family grows every time I see how you and Adam handle changes in your lives and specifically the lives of your growing children. Treating every child as an individual through each stage of life is the most wholesome thing, and knowing how and when to adapt to those changes is admirable. And I love how you do it with such an open mind.

The older kids will be great parents because of their experiences with their younger siblings, as well. Most kids don't have the opportunity to learn those parenting skills so early. I love watching the big kids cuddle the little kids.

Hi Jessica, could you make a video of how to take care new born, or some tips for new moms?

  • @Minnehaha64

Jessica, this was a wonderful video! It's neat to get to know you. I'm almost old enough to be your mom, but I have 4 living children. I wanted more. But my first husband died when our three were 7, 4, and 2. I was married 2-1/2 years later, but it was 3 more years before we had a baby. That left a gap of 7-1/2 years between the youngest and baby, and 12-1/2 years between oldest and youngest. It was a challenge, but at the same time, I had helpers! I love how you view the different ages of your children. Nobody can skip the teen years, and we wouldn't if we could, because they are super important!
Another thing was your dumbwaiter idea! Genius! I keep empty grocery bags in my storage room in the basement. I use them, and it makes it easier for my family to help me if I keep them down there. Especially if everything is organized. Right now, I'm waiting for another set of shelves. My dear husband bought a set last winter, and helped me fill it. Unfortunately, he wasn't thinking, and put way too much on the shelves. I had to take everything off, and I dated everything and reorganized it. So there wasn't enough room to put it back in the way I wanted it done.
Thank you again for this video! God's blessings on you all!❤

I think you are right, teenagers are awesome. I still will reply to people that make those comments about them that mine were amazing and I didn't have the same issues. My kids were always respectful, loving, smart, thoughtful, considerate, etc etc.. watching them and guiding them through figuring out who they were and wanted to be was always fascinating. Did we have minor issues occasionally? Sure, but for the most part, just like when they were little, we could circumvent that many times by seeing them and what they were dealing with and handling it with grace and calmness. ❤

I actually chuckled... of course you do! Lol when I see what other youtubers use.... and your channel is so enjoyable to watch and always clear sound etc. Keep up the great work xx

Hi Jessica. It 7:10am and I just got in from watering garden. It's so pretty if I do so myself. I'm really excited! I planted Scarlet Runner Beans and I built a totem pole and their coming up great! My Saffron on the other hand is not...oh well. Win some, lose some

@@cbass2755 hopefully they will as long as they didn't dry out. They should be perennial. Keep them watered this summer, mulch over winter to protect bulbs if ur winter is harsh or they are in a windy area where protective layers of soil thins bc of the wind.

Jessica, as tip from someone that had a basement in a flood plain (next to a large river!) Please use commerical grade waterproofing paint rather than just residential! The sellers painted the basement all nice and white with a basic waterproofing paint, mostly to hide the evidence of a history of flooding. Anyways we ended up needing to do a good draintile instead because the first year we moved in it was damp pretty much the whole first fall and spring. The paint did not waterproof and instead seeped water through it and made it a big mess because the chipped off paint would get pushed with water into our sump pump. :( We replaced the sump pump but I would hate for you to have anything like that happen! Go commercial grade!!
So excited to see your beautiful cellar and cold room! ❤️🙏 And the dumb waiter 👌 I was just thinking of how great that would be to have one at the house we ended up getting now!!

Hi, please know you don’t ramble. You answer questions clearly and concisely in a kind educational manner. Yes, having older and younger children is challenging to ensure you give attention to all to fulfill their needs. It has definitely stretched me too! I’m so glad you talk about seasons and being flexible with plans that used to serve us. I appreciate your candor and straightforward wisdom. I love that you treat your kids as adults and allow them to make their life decisions by presenting all the pros and cons to make an educated decision. I would love your tips and ideas on organizing (not your planner) your homesteading scratch life with a large family.

I am so glad your health has gotten better. My health keeps me from working as hard as I would like too. At 50 had breast cancer and double mastectomy,
9 heart stents from chemo and heart attack. Now work 3 days taking care of my mother in law who is 96. Love watching all the great ideas you have for making meals. I never miss a new video and watch the old ones over and over.

I totally understand as an adult growing up with 7 siblings. I watch your Chanel. Growing up was very different and difficult at times. I would learn from my mother how to cook at a young age and would cook oatmeal for my siblings each morning as we did not get lunch at school. We would figure out dinner as my mom would buy some groceries but she was depressed. Over my adult years I always over shop and make sure I have lots of food
