Hello from CANADA. I just watched your video about your truck motor .AS a retired GM line worker I am please to hear that GM stood up and took care of you. Mike.
I had a very similar experience with my Buick Lacrosse. My left side cv axle and water pump needed replacing under warranty. The dealer I bought it from couldn't look at it right away and didn't have a loaner vehicle which is part of the bumper to bumper contract. I took it to a second dealership and was privided a loaner, which is huge since they had to order parts that were hard to get shipped and it will be a month now since I dropped my car off. No worries though, they provided me a new Enclave with 120 miles to drive in the meantime. Moral of the story, not all dealerships are created equal. Find a good one!!
No dealer ever has a loaner vehicle and they should be sued for even netioning it.They should give people used cars to use if this is a legit warranty repair.
I just test drove a new 2022 Silverado with a 5.3 liter last week and the pickup quit on the test drive and had to be towed back to the dealer. I decided to stick with a Ford even though they're about $10,000 more than a chevy. I made a deal on one and was waiting to get the paperwork done and decided to take it for a test drive and it had a massive driveline vibration at 60 mph. I decided I'd keep my current pickup and wait until we're a little more past this covid thing.
Was probably just a badly balanced wheel. The chev issue is just bad luck imo. The later 2022 models are a refresh tho making them a 1st year of a new generation. I have a 22 sierra and haven't had an issue yet (knock on wood).
@@MrDutch1e No it was a driveline (high speed) vibration not a wheel (low speed), I talked to the salesman a few days later and he said they replaced the driveshaft. The chevy thing was kind of funny, I started driving Fords in 1998 because I bought my last Chevy lemon in 1997. I hadn't drove one until that test drive so that pretty well sealed GM's fate of ever selling me another vehicle. lol My brother is a mechanic at a Chevy dealer and he said GM won't let them test drive the vehicles anymore when they do a PDI, otherwise a lot of their problems could probably be caught before a customer drives them.
@@redbull8661 wheel vibration show up around 80-90km/h. Driveline will easily show up around 50km/h but usually continue to get worse the faster you go where as a wheel will sometimes calm down a bit at 100km/h+ if it's not that bad.
@@redbull8661 I worked at a Ford dealer about 15 years ago and we had about 6 months where every awd escape that came in just got parked because the driveshaft was balanced wrong and needed replacing. I found the 1st one while PDIing it lol. There were a bunch already PDIed but most of the guys in the shop didn't bother to actually drive them longer than just going to the coffee shop down the road 🤦♂️.
@@MrDutch1e Oh man, like just do your job people! I always get them up to road speed and lock the 4 wheel drive in and just make sure everything works when I test drive a new vehicle, if they don't quit in the process. lol I drove truck for 27 years and I have about 4 million miles of driving so for me it's really easy to tell if it's driveline or wheel.
yeah... but that isn't always based on the Dealership... that's likely more to do with the Service Adviser/writer that got assigned to the customer. That's the guy that you need to stick to.
You realize it isn’t “normal” for a new vehicle to need a tow, right? Shouldn’t’ve had to communicate in the first place. Should’ve just ran and been driven, but it’s a Chevy, so here we are.
Glad you found good service. Know both places you mentioned. I live between Bloomington and Evansville. Hate that your truck puked, but glad you got it going. Thanks for posting. Good luck with her.
When I was a very young boy l asked my Grandpa why he only has Ford trucks. He told me Ford and International was the only trucks worth buying. He said if they make tractors they should make fine trucks. Now I'm the Grandpa and my Grandson bought his first truck a Ford.
Had my 2021 Silverado for 14 months now, not one issue. Just lost my local dealer(GM messing with old owner, forcing him into retirement). We will see how the new owner does customer service wise. My old dealership bent over backwards for their customers!
Thanks for this video. I just purchased maybe my last or next to the last I’ll ever buy😊 and after all the years and different dealerships I for the best one in the DFW area. Had to drive past half a dozen dealerships to get to this one in Dallas. Sewell Cadillac is the best one I ever stepped into for customer service and the overall buying experience. Thanks to Hobson for their service. These company’s are what makes America great. Wished more people in business weee like these.
I've had 8 GMC fill size P/U.s in my life time so far..Never had any problems other than norm brake jobs or oil changes..Not one went back for warranty work 😅.
Reminds me of a new loaner Jeep Grand Cherokee about 4 years ago. Died at a red light (far left lane of a 3 lane highway) 5m away from the dealership on my way home. It would not start & the battery was under the passenger seat so you could not access it without removing the seat.
I know how you feel. We had a GMC Yukon that had the trans crap out. I took it to my closest GM dealer that was Chevrolet. They had it for a day then called me to say our trans guy is on vacation and he already had 3 transmissions waiting for him. So you need to come get it and find another GM dealer. I called my closest GMC dealer and they said it will be a week before we can look at it and 2 weeks to get you a ride home. So I called another GMC dealer that was a sister dealer that of one that did us dirty once. I talked to the service manager and told him what happened at the sister dealer. He went above and beyond to take care of us. GM paid for a new trans and a rental. Manager was pissed when he found out that enterprise rental cars gave us a HHR when they where told to give us a truck or a Tahoe.
I use to be a GM tech. After working on them for a few years and seeing constant transmission and engine failures under 100k miles I decided that I will never buy something with a automatic as they can just up and fail with no warning and I won't buy a modern gm truck as I saw nothing but constant problems that cost owners thousands to fix. I opted to go with Toyota. They rust but they know how to make a drivetrain that lasts and how to make electronics that work reliably.
@@blackericdenice LMAO I wish I wasn't a GM tech after dealing with gm junk especially the pain in the ass Lambda platform (traverse enclave Acadia) that is miserable to fix anything on.
I was a flat rate tech for 17 yrs. The American vehicles came in for major issues like bad engines, transmission failure, drive line problems, A/C failure, but mostly shitty electronics and wiring. The Japanese cars came in for oil changes and tire rotation. America only builds rental car quality vehicles that you're not supposed to actually buy and count on as a daily driver .
Glad you got your truck back sounds awesome. I am from Indiana also looking into buying a new Silverado with the Duramax. I know where I’ll be checking their inventory at Hobbs
Better do some research on that Duramax before you do...everything is driven off the back of that engine...step one, remove entire cab. Replacing the drive belt for the oil pump labor is 30 to 40 hours. Good luck.
I currently work at a GM dealership, we CAN NOT find good reliable techs to work. It's tough on all the techs and customers. It really sucks telling people there's a month wait to get things looked at. Also the supply chain has been so messed up lately it's almost impossible to get a real time idea when parts will show up, and more than half of them are on a national back order. To get a new engine in 40 days is a miracle at this point. I waited over 8 months for a motor recently. Now, I'm not defending GM by any means, just stating the fact that no one wants to work, and supply chains are garbage right now. Glad you found a good dealership, and got your truck back in (I think) in a decent timeframe considering all the factors.
Good for you, I have a 2021 Silverado with a 3 L Diesel that was in the shop for three months. I didn't even get a truck at first as a loaner much less anything else.
My first K2500 bought new in 1984 had a 350 V8 lasted 15 years and 120k hard miles , plowing, trailer hauling , truck worked it's ass off and payed itself off many times over. Only the AC needed a overhaul at 60k , Nothing new even comes close . New shit scares the hell out of me.
I own two vehicles, a 2016 gmc savana and a Lexus 300h. In two years zero problems with the Lexus. The gmc has had two brake calipers replaced, exhaust has fallen apart, check engine light will not go away, rust issues, seat chucking back and forth, service stabilitrak light on and off. Fan to ac heat unit switches modes when it feels like it. Thank god for cheap chevy parts. USA USA :)
👍Crazy $$$$$$ nowadays for these things!!! Market outta control. The folks, businesses that must keep buying I feel for them. But I get it. Sometimes ya gotta buy it. *I’ll never buy another new one unless I win the lotto. Glad things worked out. Of course, I like my paid for older Chevys & house. They ride & sleep better for me. (SUBd- LOU, KY)
I've had Fords and Rams and Chevys and each can over time cause headaches. I had a brand new chevy and transmission failed. A new Ram and at 508 miles at a gas station after filling it up the motor locked up so it doesn't matter which brand you buy it can have issues
im glad my dealership where I bought my car is actually great when it comes to customer service. my fuse block had blown and they innitially told me that it would take two weeks to look at ~nov 28th cos they were so booked as winter just started and everyone was booking tire appts, thankfully they managed to get it in sooner and even gave me a fully paid for rental
My wife’s Yukon 6.2 blew up and they told us atleast a year for the motor to come in we’re 961 in que and said good luck to us crazy so had to buy another vehicle cause they can’t lend loaners out that long
In my day you had to have the original dealer handle warranty work. 40 days is not bad at all to get a new motor installed with all the shortages now days.
I'll never have to get my Toyota 2TR-FE cast iron block, port injected, naturally aspirated...slow as hell and bad on gas truck fixed. It will probably live longer than me!
Super stout engine. it's basically just a updated 3rz. I swapped one into my 88 Toyota pickup. I now have what is probably the most stout/reliable drivetrain that Toyota has ever made.
Seems to be a common theme with everything today. I farm and farm tractors and the equipment manufacturers are the same, producing junk and making even more money from part sales. So nowhere to turn because they all are producing junk. I was a gm guy all my life but got tired of all the repair bills for stuff that would be reliable on gm like transmissions and engines, but they have proven me wrong. So ordered a new 22 Toyota tundra back in March and still not here yet, now they tell me a 23 model is what I'll be getting. Hope I'm not disappointed.
I’m curious about the selling dealer not offering a loaner. Isn’t that part of the truck warranty? Any time I’ve had a warranty repair, the dealer offers a loaner. It may be like this situation where it wasn’t the same type vehicle as mine, but it was something. Also, I would assume that the Carfax or similar report would show the engine replacement and mileage (?)
I would think they would offer one as well. But NO they said and I quote “ oh no we don’t do that”. And I’m sure the CARFAX will show a new engine out in. They had to put all new serial numbers off the motor on the paper work and submit it to GM. I haven’t see the CARFAX but I’m sure it says it.
Bought a brand new 2020 3500 Silverado 4x4 dually, at 29000 miles the brakes gave out. Took it to the dealership & found out the rear brakes had totally disintegrated. Chevy said that it wasn't under warranty because I must have been hauling a trailer with a brake problem that caused the truck brakes to disintegrate. When I informed them that I hadn't pulled a trailer with it in the prior 5 months, they then said that it was caused because I had replaced the 2 front tires due to a sidewall puncture & had not replaced all 6 tires at the same time. When I said I had been driving GM duallys for the past 20 years & had replaced just front tires many times without it destroying the brake system, they then said that it was do to the fact that there was mud on the brakes & that was what had caused the failure. So much for being professional grade. Don't get your new GM trucks dirty. It will void your warranty.
I got the 1500 3.0 duramax rst and it’s been in the shop last few weeks and still in the shop. It’s been a headache ever since I bought it but my shop is taking care of me I’m scared thst once the warranty is out I’m going to get screwed
I understand and have thought the same thing myself. It is bad that no matter who you are if this happens you then contemplate that warranty and when it goes are you in trouble. A customer buying a new vehicle should never have to wonder that no matter the make model or year.
My 2021 custom Silverado broke down (failed engine) August 2, 2022. It is now March 2023 and it’s still in the shop. I’m currently waiting on GM to settle or go to court. This has been one dumb and painful experience. I can’t see chancing it with GM again.
Do you have the 6.2 or the 5.3? I might have missed you saying it. I have the 2020 Trail Boss with the 5.3 and I've driven it from Maine to Montana and all points in between. In 95k miles, I've only had a brake master cylinder and rear wheel sensor issues. Knock on wood. My first set of Duratec tires lasted for 70k miles and I sold them for $100.
same deal on my 2020 new had def tank heater go out 30 day no truck. As a contractor that pulls trailers every day this was a wow moment. I get the world is messed up but no truck for me to use as per warranty
Some dealerships are terrible. I've talked to service "advisors" at some dealerships and it took about 3 sentences to realize they were idiots. I knew more about the truck than the "advisors" did. Manufacturers should have some quality standards that dealerships need to adhere to.
I had an electrical problem with a 15 year old BMW 750. The “advisor” said it would be around $1,500 to fix, maybe more. I fixed it myself for $4.79 for a new fuse holder. It never occurred to her that no one is going to spend that kind of money on a 15 year old car.
I am still dealing with bad brakes on my 2020 Cadillac XT4 Sport and the problem was from the very original date we purchased the Cadillac, I am not happy with Cadillac at all.
Warranty expirences will vary greatly and are mostly dependent on the dealership. Some are much more warranty friendly than others, that's just how it goes.
that doesn't make much sense, though. My Dad used to be a mechanic at a Dealership, and when a warranty car would be assigned to him, he'd go over it and replace as many worn stuff as he could. Cause it would rack up the hours without the customer needing to pay a penny. 'course free rentals and such weren't any of his concern... so.
I have to disagree. Chevrolet came out few years back saying they want customers for life. All these hack dealers deserve to be shut down. Gm has issues on trucks since 05’ and still don’t want to own up. Taking my money elsewhere.
my bosses C8r shelled its engine at 2k miles. it was a crap show to get it replaced. but in the end it was replaced. after the lawyers got involved. they tried to treat it as if a lifter spun in the bore, and sent it. it still knocked after the lifters were replaced. i think it was built on a friday. ;)
Got a co-worker with a 2021 Silverado. At 8,000 miles the engine had to have ALL the valves replaced in the engine. At 10,000 miles the electronic power steering crapped out. The truck only presently has 12,000 miles. So…..two trips on the tow truck back to the dealer. Over a month of down time. GM dealer also said good luck about the steering because THEY don’t know why the steering crapped out.. I was a die hard GM truck owner for 30+ years. But, not any longer. The only GM truck a would even now consider is a 2005 or older. Presently looking for a 2020 -2021 Toyota Tundra. Trucks cost to much to trust the Big three any longer. Can’t trust ANY of them any longer.
Good luck buying a nonunion toyota my son's 2020 has had the engine and transmission replaced cost more than gm and pay there employees peanuts..good luck I'm sticking with union made ride good or bad at least people that build them make a living wage and retirement 🇺🇲 screw rat toyota rat nissan rat kia there employees make nothing piss and crap where they work you save time 😂
@@rockytop4 I’m also a Union Worker. But, my money can’t be spent on a product that is slowly getting worst by the year. I work too hard for it. Union or not. Toyota is not perfect nor is any product but, it’s record is a hell of a lot better than the big three.
@@clayfree7428 I grew up with Chevy trucks. The old 80s and 90s models. Damn good trucks back then. Their current stuff is garbage. My brother worked at the local GM dealer and will be the first to tell you stay far far away from GM trucks. I've been driving Nissans after my first miserable experience of owning a GM car and my Nissans have never had a major repair or left me stranded. I couldn't say that for my Chevy nor can anyone I know who owns one. A coworker bought a Sierra 5.3 a few years ago. First his dash cluster went dark, just out of warranty. $1000 out of pocket. Now the lifters and can destroyed themselves at just over 100k miles after being maintained by the book and just out of power train warranty. He now has to put $8k long block in it and can't afford to because he still has $16k in payments to make on a in operable truck. Meanwhile my 17 year old Nissan Frontier pickup is still going strong at 224,000 miles on it's original engine and trans after being used like a full size truck countless times. Guess the most major engine repair? Spark plugs! His Sierra was his baby and was never pushed hard neither hauling or towing. Between me, my fiancee and my brother we are the only ones in our family who own Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi. in coincidentally we are also the only ones who have never had a major drive line repair or paid a towbill. Ever. And the newest model of ours is a 2008. Maybe Brandon supporters like Rocksforbrains above like perpetually being in debt for goods that don't last, which makes sense, that's how Dumbocraps manage money anyhow. A failed crank bearing is definitely an oddity. Not something I would have expected at 9k miles. Maybe at 500 miles, or 200k miles. At least they fixed it. Hopefully you don't get lifter problems next.
In 2014 Porsche called back 875 911 GT3s. They paid every owner $2800 a month for every month the car wasn’t available to the driver. I hope Chevrolet gave you a loaner . Sounds like they reached out to you. Thank goodness since the ZR2 is a special truck
Doubt they would help or care as we the tax 0a6er had to bail em out how many times already . We have family thst got pooched w8th their new trucks and constantly in for some sort of warranty repair .
Your comparing Porsche to GM? The only thing those two manufacturers have in common is that they are on the same planet. The ZR2 is special? Maybe it is if your idea of special is more expensive junk.
My daughter bought a 2018 Silverado to find the crank went out and the dealer said she needed a new engine and it took her 8 months to get an engine. Said there was no motor in country. 8 months for a engine repair
Iv deal with them good people. I live in moorseville. Beautiful truck hope you have no more issues with it. And your not joking Greag hubler is a joke in moorseville. We bought a new malibu from them in 2015 and when they did the was on it they chipped the paint on the hood and scratched it in 3 places. It had to be repainted and has swirl marks all over it and I refused to take delivery of it. They sent it back to paint shop again and finally it was good to go. Never again
I am mostly a Ford guy but I have owned all three real brands. This is what happens when you out source your manufacturing to Canada and Mexico, not to mention union employees.
Some dealers, especially American dealerships, have a big discrepancy between the sales vs service side of the building. Often, you will get great sales, awesome deal, and not so hot customer service on the maintenance and repair side. This is why I do all the basic services on my RAM Rebel myself.
No vehicle manufacturer is flawless by any means, yet as a former GM owner of numerous models over a period of years, I’ve grown to absolutely hate GM products. They absolutely cannot be trusted. Hate to hear of anybody having issues with their vehicle especially with the prices they are today. Best advice is to buy a Toyota/ Lexus or Honda / Acura product, your chances of getting a great product greatly increases. Unfortunately a GM product will never be in my garage ever again. Good luck to everyone.
You never hear this story. I bought a 02 f 350 and the ford dealer I bought it from sucked and others were not any better ! So ford never got another dime from me !
I thought about doing a video on it. I just left work pulled out of the parking lot drive literally 600 feet at most to a red light and before I even fully applied brakes to stop the entire truck shut down. Wouldn’t do anything this was back in warm weather as well. It was very odd in my opinion.

The Silverado looks so good on the outside and interior is a huge improvement. Why can't they take a Honda six cylinder engine take it apart and figure out how to make a damn good engine? Then put a V-8 version in the Silverado?
I will never own another GM vehicle as long as I live. There will never be another Dodge in my garage. Never will I own another Fix Or Repair Daily Ford again. Toyota has great cars and trucks that have not given me the problems I experienced with the other vehicles I spent too much money on .
Dealer service centers have gone to crap. Larry H Miller Ram of Albuquerque is one to stay away from. No loaners. Told me 12 weeks my truck had to sit before the diesel tech could even look at it…even though it wasn’t critical, they said I couldn’t keep driving it and bring it back because I had to “get in line.” Well, one of the techs said “I’d just delete it”. Probably knows their shop is crap and knows the main problems these trucks have. Well, 1.5 years later it hasn’t seen the dealer lot. I’ll work on it myself, screw their warranty.

You too! 😄
I also use Hobson for service of my vehicles. Best dealer service department ever!
Thank for the info. That dealership should go out of business.
Very nice truck and I’m glad GM came to the party. It’s refreshing to get a good news warranty story. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
Lol, you know there's a Toyota tech somewhere swearing they won't buy a Toyota because he constantly fixes them 🤣
He’s probably lying about being a GM tech. I know a bunch of people who have bought GM vehicles and have never had problems.
@@blackericdenice LMAO I wish I wasn't a GM tech after dealing with gm junk especially the pain in the ass Lambda platform (traverse enclave Acadia) that is miserable to fix anything on.
They actually rust from being alive and on the road so long
I was a flat rate tech for 17 yrs.
Good luck.
A thrust bearing locked up the engine?? Front to rear crank movement bearings?
GM service has always been top notch.
They have treated me great over the years and provides me a vehicle if mine is in shop mor3 than a day.
It is going to be dealer specific. No such thing as GM service. Dealer service....
Same old dealer story; some are great and some stink. Glad to hear how good Hobson Chevrolet was for you. 😎
normal synthetic Oil change is like 150 buck thru a dealership. Maintenance thingy is a pretty good bonus, if u ask me.
Good for you, I have a 2021 Silverado with a 3 L Diesel that was in the shop for three months. I didn't even get a truck at first as a loaner much less anything else.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience.
u kinda have to go full Karen mode to get them to bend over 4 u; when that happens (but it only works if they have competition.)
I love my 2021 tundra XSP FLAWLESS truck , my younger life all I bought were chevy trucks dont miss them at all.
Sounds like Hobbsons is a good dealership. Sad there are only so few.
My wife’s Yukon 6.2 blew up and they told us atleast a year for the motor to come in we’re 961 in que and said good luck to us crazy so had to buy another vehicle cause they can’t lend loaners out that long
Horrible
In my day you had to have the original dealer handle warranty work. 40 days is not bad at all to get a new motor installed with all the shortages now days.
If you want something dependable these days..., You will have to build it yourself
I'll never have to get my Toyota 2TR-FE cast iron block, port injected, naturally aspirated...slow as hell and bad on gas truck fixed. It will probably live longer than me!
They seem to never die.
Ya but then you'll date dude's cuz u drive a toyota
Super stout engine. it's basically just a updated 3rz. I swapped one into my 88 Toyota pickup. I now have what is probably the most stout/reliable drivetrain that Toyota has ever made.
@8 mpg 😂🇺🇲 turd toter
I keep seeing issues like this happening in more and more brand new vehicles, not just gm. Scary to see this is where our craftsmanship is going

@@Pottorff2310 if your Vehicle is under warranty GM has to choice but to give you a loaner car lol. That dealership needs shut down.
They should have stamped "vaya con dios" somewhere on that truck 😆
just harmless humor brother lol. Good luck 🤙
A month isn't to bad to wait, most engine rebuild shops it could be around the same time.
Our shop has been waiting on a 6.2 for about a year
Meanwhile my 68 & 86 ford f250s are still on their original drive train lol
They should have offered a extended warranty bumper to bumper. Like 6 year 75,000 miles
They should match the Cadillac warranty period at least. Most people have to finance for 5 yrs now so a 5/60 would be appropriate.
Some of these gmc and chevy dealerships are HORRIBLE here in South carolina
Be glad it was only 40ish days. Some Ford clients have been waiting for covered motors, yet Ford discontinued them

2019 Silverado 5.3 with 35k no issue’s
Ah yes. That exhaust note. You won't hear that with an EV. Gas and go verses charge and wait.
same deal on my 2020 new had def tank heater go out 30 day no truck. As a contractor that pulls trailers every day this was a wow moment. I get the world is messed up but no truck for me to use as per warranty
sons Tahoe did the same thing. Driving back from Napa it gave up the Ghost..7000 miles on it. My 2020 colorado..nothing no issues.
My 06 sierra was a lemon my f150 was a dog I’m a Toyota guy now.
I am still dealing with bad brakes on my 2020 Cadillac XT4 Sport and the problem was from the very original date we purchased the Cadillac, I am not happy with Cadillac at all.
Great service from Hobb's, that's the way it should be!
Btw, might be good to cover your adress and stuff? Or nopt, if you don't care off course :)
'course free rentals and such weren't any of his concern... so.
@@Hydra360ci if anything I would say that proves my point.
