_Mit_Whit _Gaming_ That's... a bit generous. I'd argue that Wookiees, Hutts, Jawas, Tuskens and maybe even Rodians are more iconic to the Star Wars franchise. And in all of Sci-Fi there is no way that they beat Klingons, Xenomorphs, The War of the World's Martians etc.
Ima-Gun Di They are clones of a human, that makes the human over all, they bleed, feeland die like humans, they just have a microchip planted on their heads and age faster
Toa Tresher it was mostly a joke but jango is mandolorian which are considered to be non human by non human species, example in the young Jedi knight series an anti human organization is fine with boba fett and mandolorians, yes I am aware there are non human mandos but the point still stands.
When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It was a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eyes.
Samuronite Wars Actually if you look closely in the beginning at the trading station you can see another red twielek girl in the crowd. But I was more speaking of the new trilogy.
Informative video!! The Twi'leks are such a memorable and classical sight to see throughout the Star Wars franchise. They can never be forgotten! My favorite, well-known member of the Twi'lek species would be Aayla Secura due to her unique personality as a Jedi, and expressing her likeability through the Republic comics. 🙂📚 Keep making more videos on the different alien species of Star Wars covering the basic statistics and level of uniqueness between Canon and Legends. It'll definitely help aspiring Star Wars writers decide what species to make their original characters as well as other sources--eg, The (New) Essential Guide to Alien Species and Wookieepedia. Reading and writing is MY passion, in fact, and already writing Star Wars fanfiction. Again, keep up the great work!! 👍👍☄
Tom140SW Because they usually look a lot like hair, which makes them look more human, and it is easier for us to like human like shapes, it is simple evolutionary instinct
If I remember right there was a Twi'lek clone couple from the commando books as well, but they were just starting out and I don't remember if the possibility of kids was ever mentioned.
Thank you for an informative video! One element you might consider adding to future such vids is the real-world history and development of the species, such as which designer first drew the Twi'leks (was it Joe Johnston? Ralph McQuarrier? Phil Tippett? Nilo Rodis-Jameiro?), in what year and for which film or series, plus which authors were most instrumental in coming up with their features and fictional origins. Just a thought!
I remember reading in a few places that due to Ryloth being an arid planet where food was scarce, not only were Twi'lek omnivores, as opposed to many sentient species classified as carnivorous, but they also had multichambered stomachs so that they could get every possible bit of nutrition out of anything they ate. Also that Orn Free Taa's extra "lekku" were actually a fat-storage mechanism which any Twi'lek could develop if they gained enough weight.
@The Senate ugh. Mandalorians are very much humans. They're just an ethnicity of humans, slightly evolved to adapt to a specific environment. It's the same way white, black, asian, etc work irl. All humans in SW, whether they're from Coruscant, Alderaan, Naboo, Mandalore, Lothal, Correllia, Chandrilla, or even Tatooine, are still humans.
They seem to have changed a lot in the new canon, I remember reading in the old RPG books that Twi'leks lived on a harsh world with horrid heat storms, and that affected their culture and outlook quite a bit. Ah well, lots of changes, we'll just see how it goes.
RifterBlade Yes and No. Ryloth, correct me if I'm wrong, still doesn't spin around it's own axis, thus, one half of it is a burning wasteland while the half is a frozen wasteland.
Gungans are actually awesome. They have a distinct culture and I like how silly and wacky they are, but still a military force to reckon with. They defeated and captured Grievous god damn! They deserve respect.
Please do a Mandalorian culture/history overview video! That would be awesome. (Though I guess you might wait until after Rebels season 4 hits since the first few episode deal primarily with this)
Hi Alex! Thank you for this video. I was wondering if you'd consider extending your coverage to include board games - well, more precisely Imperial Assault? They have their own stories and characters, which is great! (I came here on my path to look for information on Diala Passil, for your info. ;) Have a great day and may the Force be with you!
Do one on Gungans please. Even though they are often portrayed as silly in the movies, I would love to know about how their society works and the difference between the two gungan species
Just finished Lords of the Sith--such a great read! I think I remember something about the men filing their teeth (the main female character had filed hers which was not typical). So both male and female probably had blunt teeth but the cultural practice was for males to file theirs at some point.
I think its worth mentioning that Twi'leks have a highly efficient metabolism which allow them to gain more sustenance from food then most species. Their head tails or leku are used to store fat and water much like camels which further enhances their endurance. This higher then average endurance and adaptability means Twi'leks can survive in many different environments with less food then most other species which is what makes them such a common sight in the galaxy. This also means that its easy for Twi'leks to become overweight because their bodies are designed to absorb as much food as possible.
Hmm nobody mentioned anything regarding that, yet you are so obsessed with them you went out of your way to bring them into something completely unrelated. That is kinda pathetic dude... let me enjoy star wars without your agenda with you man
@StarWarsExplained The RPG books, especially the West End Games 'D6' series was such a good source of reference material that Lucas Films sent them to SW novel writers as source material. This meant that George Lucas considered them essentially 'source materials for others to work from.
Do a video on the Cathar! They may not be yet featured in the canon (or they are and I simply don't know yet) but they're a fascinating species with an interesting lore in Legends!
Can you do Star Wars legends galactic alliance troopers types and Star Wars legends galactic alliance star fighters or star cruisers for you next video !?
Kinda wish they had never drawn so heavily from Bib for the cannon appearance of male Twi'leks, especially when it comes to the ears and cones misconception.
The Togruta are an interesting race I would like to see them further explained. Other would be: Belugans Bothans Chiss Dathomirians Duros Dugs Falleens Felucians Grans Ithorians Kages Kaleesh Kel Dor Mikkians Mirialans Mon Calamari Nautolans Neimoidian Pantorans Phindians Quarren Rodians Terrelian Jango Jumpers Theelins Trandoshans Weequay Zabraks Zygerrians
What about the information we learned in Bloodline, like Rinnrivan Di's cartel running through Ryloth. And an interesting fact is how the Twi'leks don't have digital books, but rather have old dusty books.
however on thw subject matter, I'm a little curiois how Rodian are in Canon, assuming thier's anything to add beyond what we've seen in shows and movies.
Twi'leks might just be one of the most iconic races in sci-fi period.
_Mit_Whit _Gaming_ That's... a bit generous. I'd argue that Wookiees, Hutts, Jawas, Tuskens and maybe even Rodians are more iconic to the Star Wars franchise. And in all of Sci-Fi there is no way that they beat Klingons, Xenomorphs, The War of the World's Martians etc.
he said period!
You forgot to mention that twi'leks and humans were sexually compatable
I'm not saying anything but i'm just saying KANAN
spartan J-109 It makes sense since a clone had a family with a Twi'lek
Toa Tresher a clone is mandolorian not human, one has badass genetically encoded one learns to be
Ima-Gun Di They are clones of a human, that makes the human over all, they bleed, feeland die like humans, they just have a microchip planted on their heads and age faster
Toa Tresher it was mostly a joke but jango is mandolorian which are considered to be non human by non human species, example in the young Jedi knight series an anti human organization is fine with boba fett and mandolorians, yes I am aware there are non human mandos but the point still stands.
Twileks are my favorite species in starwars obviously for scientific reasons.
Tyrone Jaquise ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tyrone Jaquise i see a LOT of Lenny in this comment section today
Dang Itshere I wonder why...( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'd be a Jedi on the streets and a sith in the sheets ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tyrone Jaquise i agree
When the 501st was finally rotated out of Felucia, Aayla Secura made a point of seeing us off personally, calling us the bravest soldiers she had ever seen. It was a good thing we were wearing helmets, because none of us could bear to look her in the eyes.
I got the reference
Makes sense. A very non-Jedi outfit
the scene was made more sad with that line from the game
_MaZ_ SWBF2 I love it
_MaZ_ ma boi commander appo
Wanna know a fact about the Twi'leks?
*They are Hot*
Skaan Ze Duck well of course, they have a higher body temperature...
Skaan Ze Duck even Bib Fortuner
Skaan Ze Duck soooo true
Hurray
Go outside
The true question is, was Kanan able to get a piece of that?
Daniel Ortiz yes, off screen he definitely was. Many times.
Someone fanfic that
Lol 34 likes
They kissed in the last Ep so yeah he got some already.
Hera and Kanan have a son together, so yes
All I know about FEMALE Twi'leks is that they are gorgeous
both inside n out ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Your flattering me and my species.
I'd be interested to see a Togruta video
Coming very soon :)
Boring! Talk about the Sith pureblood society or the Arkanians.
Yes, Sith Pureblood please!
Star Wars Explained Yay
Baggles 😛😛
This is the species I want to see in the new trilogy! Come on Tail Heads!
Force Within TV exactly, they've even gotten to copying other species and just slightly altering them lol
There were two twileks in rogue one. One in a hologram and another a male partisan. The cousin of Bib fortuna.
Samuronite Wars Actually if you look closely in the beginning at the trading station you can see another red twielek girl in the crowd. But I was more speaking of the new trilogy.
Yeah! Bring in the Tail Heads!
2:07 meth not even once.
SnifyWisper haha
LOL
Deathsticks*
😂😂
JESUS CHRIST YOUR RIGHT
Can you talk about the Ithorians?
Yes! Please do!
Yes please, my favourite aliens in the SW Universe.
Ithorias, four throats, quite powerful
Ithorians are adorable. Sadly their canon Wookieepedia page is barren.

Do an episode about Nautolans! I love Kit Fisto 🐙
Pink Love People seem to love species with tentacles in this comment section (If ya know what I'm sayin')
Tom140SW
Because they usually look a lot like hair, which makes them look more human, and it is easier for us to like human like shapes, it is simple evolutionary instinct
Yeah, I love Kit too!
I'd love a video about the Dugs. I've been fascinated by them ever since I first saw Sebulba in a magazine covering Episode 1 way back in the day.
Here is a fact you didn't state in your video: Twi'leks are compatible with humans, meaning that a human and a Twi'lek can have kids together.
well ask kanan ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Stewart Griffin or ask that one clone guy
If I remember right there was a Twi'lek clone couple from the commando books as well, but they were just starting out and I don't remember if the possibility of kids was ever mentioned.

Ewoks??
@The Senate ugh. Mandalorians are very much humans. They're just an ethnicity of humans, slightly evolved to adapt to a specific environment.

The Twi'lek and the togruta were very similar species .
M Lau only visualy.
Visually, yes. But also in the sense that the Togruta also called their own head-tails Lekku.
Talk about the gungans
Force Within TV yea but gungans are funnier xD
TheCoolRaptor PL especially the... WEAKNESS...
Gungans are actually awesome. They have a distinct culture and I like how silly and wacky they are, but still a military force to reckon with. They defeated and captured Grievous god damn! They deserve respect.
TheCoolRaptor PL Don't you mean the GOONGAS?
Kordero Conversi ?
Please do a Mandalorian culture/history overview video! That would be awesome. (Though I guess you might wait until after Rebels season 4 hits since the first few episode deal primarily with this)

I'd like to offer my condolonces on the passing of your dog, Biggs. He seemed like a wonderful dog that certainly lived up to his name.
Just finished Lords of the Sith--such a great read! I think I remember something about the men filing their teeth (the main female character had filed hers which was not typical). So both male and female probably had blunt teeth but the cultural practice was for males to file theirs at some point.
talk about the togrutas
This one is coming soon :)
Glad to hear it Star Wars Explained.
Thanks Star Wars Explained
You should a video on the biology, society, and history within the old canon as a comparison. It'll definitely be a little longer.
I think its worth mentioning that Twi'leks have a highly efficient metabolism which allow them to gain more sustenance from food then most species. Their head tails or leku are used to store fat and water much like camels which further enhances their endurance.

"The specie had two sexes, male and female..."
SJWs: *TRIGGERED*
Biology is a social construct people can become toasters if they want to
Hmm nobody mentioned anything regarding that, yet you are so obsessed with them you went out of your way to bring them into something completely unrelated. That is kinda pathetic dude... let me enjoy star wars without your agenda with you man
Lynn USUK stfu
Since Twi'leks aren't human, well... your ULTRA EDGY strawman doesn't work.
Funny how Mr. E, Madnss Ends and Mileena are all incapable of recognizing an obvious joke.
I think an episode on Torgrutans would be interesting
