I think "finished" just means different things for each squad. For CLS, finished might be all R5; for Nightsisters, finished might just be R3 Daka; for Troopers, finished might be G11.
The way I see is that some teams can function at 90% functionality with 2-3 relics instead of all 5, I think when you're early game it can be a waste of time to have 3 solid teams with all 5 members relic compared to 3 solid teams with 2-3 of the most important characters relic leaving 6-9 relics left over for requirement relics for something like executor, then coming back after and actually finishing them. This is something I personally did, I had a JKR team with Only JKR and GMY relic, CLS I had Han, Chewie and CLS relic, although they're not at their potential they still had great value. I only have 13 relics on my roster currently and I've completed executor and now I'm spending that time after to actually complete my teams which I know is something you have done on your own accounts. I would much rather be in my position now then have a fully relic CLS and Revan team with executor not even in sight. Relics are precious and require a fair bit of time to complete, I think its okay to postpone the less relevant relics for later after completing a bigger farm.
I agree that you shouldn't farm things like JKR and keep them all g12, but I wouldn't say an error has been made if Its only JKR Jolee and Yoda relic, ESPCIALLY for early game, thats my main emphasis, by higher gp counts I'd expect key teams to be finished.
Having full relic teams allows you to use datacrons. I understand that not everyone is high enough GAC rank to have to worry about that but it is extremely important
I used to be a gotta get a team to g12 quickly early on, but I recognized when I needed to switch to fully relicing teams and im so happy I did. I now have 3 full Dark side relic teams and a revan relic light side. Have enough crons for free from normal conquest for each squad to have one. Really helps me in gac punch up even more than I was.
I think this is imo the best Nooch video I've seen. Super excellent discussion. At its very core, SWGOH is a strategy game, and the core of strategy is doing more with less. I think the point that finishing teams is really good advice overall. I think there is arguable nuance, for example, I think APGains' Basti was less than g12 until Levi farm, because she didn't fit the team he used her in. (I think he rushed Hyoda and JKL, but I've only followed them for a few months.) I wish I could have seen these videos way back when I started w/ an SEE rush (before the GAC changes, so it made more sense back then, but I think there's an argument that core teams were undervalued back then.) Excellent video, once again.
Nooch I’ve been watching since I believe you were at 3 thousand subscribers. You have made great progress in UA-cam and I’m very proud of you. For a while now I haven’t been able to watch you due to being very busy and to come back to see you up 13 thousand subs just makes me so happy! Keep up the good work man :)
Taking a look at what the team does throughout the game is important. The team needed to unlock a major character/team probably should only go as high as what’s needed for the unlock. But that major character/team would probably benefit your roaster if you put some decent gear on them.
So i can definelty see all sides, but im with you nooch. Ive tried only paying attention to key/heavy lifting characters and while it helps immediately, in the long term im just adding more work for later. When i could be alot stronger if i FMF. Also the benefiets are so short lived that its a regret within a couple months or less. And nothing is more annoying that having to go back to old farms to fix because i couldn't be bothered to get it done originally. Like now im really close to executor requirements but i dont have bam....because i got distracted on the revans a long time ago and never finished him. And now im having to go back and do this extra work on a character that should have been finished a year ago. So yeah im with you nooch, fyf its the wiser option in the long run. And oh yeah what's up dad?! Glad to see your feeling better
I would just finish farming important teams like the revans, cls, Malak etc while I spend less resources on other teams. That way, I have many usable teams for grand arena.
I personally dont consider a team finished until all 5 characters are at R5 and useable with faction datacrons. This doesn't necessarily mean that the team isnt useable, its just not complete. For example, my bad batch are all sitting around G8/G9 and im able to get some use out of them from time to time. However until every one is sitting at R5 (probably for my LV farm) I simply won't consider them finished
Love these discussion vids!! Honestly, it breaks the monotony of GAC vids that literally every swgoh youtuber/streamer posts :D Thumbs up Star Wars Dad!👍
I completely agree with your overall point, we see it all the time, people with big investments on things like JKR, 3 zetas, g13, but have 2 mods on him, and his comp has all g10-12, and they’ve moved on to a new farm. They are bloating GP, without having the fire power to back it up. Yes, gearing up the comp would increase GP more… but then at least you have real firepower to back it up.
The key question that is causing people to talk past each other is “what does finished mean for each farm?” It’s not always (or even often) that finished means R5 across the board. But it’s also true that 2 characters left at G8 is not finished. And each team will be different. Some teams can be considered finished at “all G11-G12 with the key unit at R5” (think GG). Others require more at relics. Some require all at relic. The key thing is to specify what “finished” means for each farm. The further trick is that “finished” will mean different things even for the same team as accounts progress. What was once “finished (enough)” will look unfinished a few million GP later (a G13 B1 at 9mil GP is not a finished GG team). It can simultaneously be true that you should FYF and that you don’t need to relic every character you 7 star. Finished simply doesn’t mean “every character at relic.”
Love the video, and upon your re-reading of the whole convo I do agree with 90% of what you’re saying. I also recognize FYF is just a meme, I think that point that Kiki and I both landed on was that FYF has to have a different meaning for every team, and without clarification can sound like very misleading advice. Should you relic JKR, DR, and Malak? Absolutely, why else are you wasting time unlocking them, But as a perfect counter example, Chewpio and Mara Jade do wonders at low stars and low gear until you need to take them up to relic levels as requirements. So FYF, while fun and generally useful advice, is not a one size fits all answer. (I should also note I am always going to favor GAC over anything else in terms of maximization simply bc it’s the most enjoyable for me personally)
On the CBA note, that is also way out of my league, and varies so much dependent on what issues we’re talking about (relic ahsoka is way different than relic inquisitors) so it would have to be a case by case thing which I what I think we both agree everyone should do with their roster. Love the videos! Keep it up 🎉
I think what this whole discussion in its core comes down to is: Should you spend resources on your core teams and build them up to relics to make them Datacron ready? (I think they should at least be G12 to be somewhat viable for GAC/KDR, today its easier than ever to get chars to G12) Or do you employ FYF situationally and only put relics on those characters in teams that are incremental for the teams synergy and leave the rest at G12 (eg IT, only relic Piett and dark trooper) to free up resources for other big farms (next GL/Meta ship, I m at 6 Mio and have GAS and Fives reliced and the rest of 501. at G12 it works perfectly fine against all FR teams in GAC so I dont see a need to put more gear on them unless I wanted to use datacrons). Both is reasonable and can lead to success in different game modes, choose your focus and pick your poison. In the end its all about how long you are already in the game and how efficiently you use your resources to get to your next farming goal.
I'm currently at about 3.2m, I'm 2 relic units off of farming SEE, with the intention of rolling into exec after that. I have fully G12 JKR/DR teams,(edit, have Malak before anyone gets annoyed at me) as well as geos and CLS. I have Padme but can't justify the Kyros for her atm until I've got SEE finished off (Using JKA with QGJ omicron in GAC). I think after Exec I'll likely take a step back from aiming for more journeys and get some of my preferred teams to relic levels.
I think the only thing that wasn't discussed here is the collector aspect of our game. Some people don't care if they are competitive, they just want to collect the character. Some of those people will have passion farms that more competitive players would scoff at, but it is what they want. Some of them want to be casually competitive, but don't feel the need to push for as good as they can be by maximizing their roster. For some people, it's about having a wide roster of lots of characters because that's one of the best things about Star Wars. That won't make them very competitive in the more profitable game modes, but that's not what they want out of the game. Nooch says it often as well, play the game at your speed, at your desire, at your interest. Most of his advice and suggestions will make accounts more competitive, but for some of the Roster Mania where we don't know the account owner, it may not be what they wanted to do.
This is a debate for F2P I see a lot. I think I’m somewhere in the middle; I have developed an approach I call the “core 3 + 2”. Happy to speak to it more if you want.
Since gear 12 is so easy now, I tend to farm characters up to gear 12, and then get them later up to relics, because of the requirements it takes to relic (100 kyros).
Agree with LukeRemsberg. You keep looking at GP and judging accounts based on that. You should be looking at age of account, and taking a guess at money invested, to see how efficiently someone has built a roster, NOT GP. Luke makes a great point, which you missed. GP growth or lack of growth is not the most important factor. A 5 year old account at 7m gp with 6 GLs might look great to you, but he should be at 10m and doing far better in GAC - he has stunted his gp to look lean and impress people who dont know what they are looking at. A 2 year old account bloating pilots to 4m to start proving grounds early, running 1st in fleet arena, and JKR at g12 and Padme g12 might look to you as "finish your farms" but you need to look at his GAC performance and see how he is putting his "unfinished" teams to use before you can criticise him for failing to finish his farms.
In my opiniojn in the early game its ok to have teams with 1-2 relics but as soon as you have a good amount of teams up and a solid base you should finish off the teams instead of just building new ones and leaving your old teams at like g11-12 becasue although (eg) a r5 cls with g11 han chewie etc may do well early game mid game you will loose most gacs because it wont beat higher relic teams, and in mid game it matters more to have finished teams then lots of them.
It’s like this: would you rather be 4M GP and not be able to punch up further than 500k GP stronger than you, or raise your GP a little bit more, and be able to punch up 3-4M Gp higher than you?
I think people tend to generalize what should be done for accounts. Every account is different and has different needs than another account may. I agree if you farm teams such as JKR and Darth Revan you might as well go for Malak and finish it off. You spent months farming these teams and Malak will only better your DR team. Recently had a similar discussion in my guild when a new member joined and asked for roster tips. Guys telling him he should farm brand new teams he hasn't even started on when he has 1 relic character on an account with 2.7m GP. Crazy to me how people get blinded by the idea of pushing out new teams and expanding their roster rather than improving on the focal points and maximizing what you have while pushing for 1 big piece such as a GL or Capital ship. Then using the requirements from said GL or capital ship you can go fill out other teams that you already have met the requirements for while doing the bigger farms. Ex: Getting executor gives you a team of bounty hunters you can use to get Chewbacca since they will already be at relics from you getting the executor.
I dont think you quite explained why not to relic Mission and Zalbar for JKR. As they aren't part of that final team and only the unlock, get them to the minimum, and you can leave them there.
No amount of conversation on this topic will convince me to take Ewoks to relic. There are teams that are finished before relics and still help with progression. Before Rex, there wasn't really a reason to take Phoenix past what you needed to unlock Thrawn.
How do you balance farming shards and gearing teams?? Currently farming BAM/EXEC but gearing Revan, Padme and BH teams?? Never enough energy and feels like nothings going anywhere
I feel I can kind of comment on both sides of this discussion. I realise that my roster has been very very unfocused for a while, I have all the ap core 8 teams with only a few at relics. On one hand, padme GK, JKA, Ashoka and GMY was my first full relic team, so I see the importance of finishing farms, however I have noticed as well it can be very tough beating up against 2/3 GLs with none, and I don't think these sorts of teams really help against jabbas, JMKs and LV so recently I have chosen to skip gearing up CLS and some other key teams in favour of JMK
I don't think using GP as a benchmark is as straight forward as it once was. There are 2 types of 4 mil accounts (and i think your previous video had each one). First there's the F2P that's several years old, they have fully reliced teams and plenty of 6 dot mods but are weaker in ships. Second there are hyper drive accounts that are about a year old, they have lots of gp bloat from ships and a head start on many teams that they complete the composition but haven't had the time to invest fully in the gear.
I also think we are focusing to much on “every team to relic”, a well modded g12 team (sith trio) can do amazing all the way through mid game….why relic those over somthing else when they are doing what the player needs….an amazing mod set will negate the gap in relics to a point
Also on revan farms, i have slowly farmed jkr and dr over the last 3 years, hasnt cost me time as such but they are not finished not always a waste of 2-3 months of focus farming
Honestly, not at all, I'm just farming things I've come to enjoy when watching videos/streams of swgoh, main team I'm really all in on is empire because of how crazy it can be
The hyperfocus on gls doesnt help you in higher guilds. Many guilds that asked me to join wanted me because of my roster(and reva-ready inqs) and accepted me with just one GL at 6.2 Million GP. With that said it would be smarter to flatten out the roster to become more suitable for those big guilds at 300m+ GP. Thats what the rest of my year will be about after i obtain jmk. Finishing my teams and getting ready for jml.
Haha yea I didn't expect the whole conversation in the video. I'll admit that I didn't think about the way you have to farm revan, you got a point if they're that far from coming passively I don't remember at all. Considering that, Revan is probably a really bad exemple indeed lol. :/ And to be fair I have way less trouble agreeing with you in this video where it's a bit more nuanced. I don't think you would be a huge fan of my roster though.
Hmm it depends where you are in the game tbh, if they are a good team I’d say start with g12 and once they are they’re, see if you can knock ‘em up to relic 3, but if they are just requirements for journey guides, I like to just have them at the bear minimum gear as to not wasted any rare materials
@@NOOCH2GUDunder that “general definition” some might construe FYF to mean you have to relic 3 your whole Old Republic team, so maybe you’ve never said specifically to do so, but some could easily fall into the trap of thinking that’s what your mean (In regards to “I’ve never said to relic mission and Zaalbar”)
I've got a question, I'm just about to finish executor and I'm also farming for Jedi Knight Revan, after that I don't know whether to go for Jabba or Leia (I've got quite a few relic Ewoks) OR do I spend the time building up some solid teams like Imp troopers and Geos?
@@NOOCH2GUD I really want to! Ive been working hard since my last roster review, the only tricky thing is I'm UK based so the timings are hard sometimes!
@@dimitrinicomanisI’m probably at a similar place. Just wrapping up Piett for my Executor farm and I’m looking at SEE as my next farm. Probably with some supporting farms to build a few teams out of the requirements.
Finishing your farms doesn't mean putting G13 the entire team. You can have lower gear on teams and have them still be useable. Pay attention though that a G12 JKR/Padme/CLS team or what have you, does not perform like a fully relic team does. Can't bring a G12 CLS or Padme team into PG lol. Those two teams alone at full relic will 3 star most PG Nodes!!! Wake up!
I have a full gear 12 cls team with almost all the zetas (missing c-3po's and chew's 2nd unique). I still need 5-6 characters to get see. When I am done with that I will have all the bounty hunter ships for executor to 7* + mando so I will still need 4-5 characters to get executor. Should I finish the cls farm (while also farming shards to mando requirements and bh ships) or completely both see and executor and then get cls to relics? Edit: Or should I get 1-2 characters from that team to relics? And if so which of them
If your 5 characters from SEE then obviously finish him as fast as you can, but if you had just started farming SEE then its worth getting a few relics on CLS team whilst farming shards for SEE.
@@fulcrum101 I need to get 6 more characters to relics (1 of them are gear12, 2 gear 10 and the rest gear 7-8? for see and I just need 1-2 relic levels on a anakin and thrawn
Guess what, unfinished teams are harder to beat… why? Harder to counter. Usually opponent has way too powerful teams and don’t want to use that so they use some team that is maybe good enough. But they fail. And then fail again and then use the over powered team anyway and win easily. That is my experience in TW.
Lol when he said he could get PGs faster. There's no point going to hard mode in Conquest if you can't beat anything with your 'usable' but not maximized teams. I personally upgraded many characters to get 4 millions but at that point I had 2GLs and I can fully clear conquest hard mode.
ive had my account since 2018, i play every now and again. GP around 1.7m only 1 relic. would like to start playing more every day. where should i start? my relic is Boba
Lol i'm only 1m and i can beat his padme and other 70k teams out of his roster, my padme team is like at 90k in power and i havent even got c3p0 yet, and my resistances and GG team with Jango sure would give him some hard times in GAC lol :3

Great video! Loved the discussion!
Amazing video man keep it up!
Depends on what you are trying to achieve and where you are in the power rankings….
And to be fair I have way less trouble agreeing with you in this video where it's a bit more nuanced. I don't think you would be a huge fan of my roster though.
Thanks for saying something! Both then and now. :)
All our differences make us stronger!
My roster is jacked because I kept needing a break halfway through a grind lol
Pretty new to the game. What would be your typical definition of finished? G12, G13, certain relic level? Or just 7 stars?
Hmm it depends where you are in the game tbh, if they are a good team I’d say start with g12 and once they are they’re, see if you can knock ‘em up to relic 3, but if they are just requirements for journey guides, I like to just have them at the bear minimum gear as to not wasted any rare materials
Finished is relic 3+ --- thats my general definition.
Nooch2gud! Love the content always, I'm ready to get flamed on my account one of these days🤣
Wow, A skyhigh reference. I love it
Winner! Sidekick!!!
I've got a question, I'm just about to finish executor and I'm also farming for Jedi Knight Revan, after that I don't know whether to go for Jabba or Leia (I've got quite a few relic Ewoks) OR do I spend the time building up some solid teams like Imp troopers and Geos?
Get onto a roster review amd we can take a look!
Grand arena - this does not ever happen
Only thing I can say is that some times your biggest critic is yourself... 😅👌
Lol when he said he could get PGs faster. There's no point going to hard mode in Conquest if you can't beat anything with your 'usable' but not maximized teams. I personally upgraded many characters to get 4 millions but at that point I had 2GLs and I can fully clear conquest hard mode.
Finally got into kyber 3 yesterday at 6.1mil gp
Nice!!!! Ahead of me
Nice!!!! Ahead of me
@@NOOCH2GUD 3v3 really helped me rise that extra little bit! I’m sure I’ll yo-yo back down shortly, but I’m gonna enjoy it while it lasts!
Just come back after 4 years or so, welcome to roast my roster. Was fairly decent before I left
ive had my account since 2018, i play every now and again. GP around 1.7m only 1 relic. would like to start playing more every day. where should i start? my relic is Boba
I would say executor? Maybe would be a good path since you already have boba
Or if you want you can go for Jabba but since I can't see your roster
Could you send your ally code so I can give more precise tips?
I’m going for iden troops
Do you agree with going for that early mid game
ua-cam.com/video/6tGI9P8o_vs/v-deo.html
Watch that :)
Ty
Ok so I think that video helped bc I did not know that you can put Colonel and iden so I will go for him for my iden team tysm
Lol i'm only 1m and i can beat his padme and other 70k teams out of his roster, my padme team is like at 90k in power and i havent even got c3p0 yet, and my resistances and GG team with Jango sure would give him some hard times in GAC lol :3
Or be like me and don’t use datacrons and its a mute point. 7.5 mil account, with not one in my roster!
