my boy, EL DEBARGE wrote half of the song. El composed his part of the song. and Barry White's part too. the song went #1 on the R&B charts in early 1990.

@@GamingWithEricBlacc not only was he the lead singer. but the Producer of the family group/Debarge. EL created that famous sound...and the boy is a MASTER Musician. if Motown didn't do him dirty, like so many others. El would have been a HUGE Superstar on Prince level.

Long before DJ Khaled, there was Quincy Jones. However he was a true musician, composer, song writer and producer. The lyrics for The Secret Garden were written by Quincy Jones, Siedah Garrett, and El DeBarge. Al B Sure, who happened to be discovered by Quincy Jones was a last minute fill in. Michael Jackson was originally slated to open the song, but wasn't able to be a part of it due to a scheduling conflict. The rest is history. You should listen to the regular version to really appreciate the song. This was chopped up for the video.
The other vocalist was the late James Ingram excellent collaboration baby making music of the 90's

That was actually a edited version. Quincy Jones music produced all the music for Michael Jackson's biggest albums, Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. And he music produced all types of TV shows and movies including The Wiz and Roots that came out in 1977. And he music produced a lot of the old Jazz Greats as well as R and B and Pop singers including Barbra Streisand. This dude is Super Legendary. O and he music produced the song for Sanford and Son. That was a Black comedy show that came out in the 70s.
