I also have a degree in Chemical Engineering from the UK, did not like the work environment, worked for the tax department and an entry level accounts work. Finally wanted to move in Data direction, i completed Business Analytics nano degree from Udacity, I am good with advanced Excel , ok in SQL , now learning Python. I am still trying to land my first data /business analyst job. Your video is excellent.
That ”volunteer to do reporting” is definitely a hidden gem… you can pretty much do that in any office job - as an accountant, I’ve been using this one to to at least change my trajectory toward the dataverse
Hi A friend sent me the link to one of your videos and have been on the trail since yesterday. I am actually making a switch from Product management to Data Analytics and I've been looking for someone to guide me through and your videos are most helpful. Thanks a lot

Not focusing on job description! Thanks for sharing this, I'm definitely going to apply it. I always look forward to your videos, they are valuable. I've gotten serious with Google certificate course in Project Management, after watching your review on Google's Data Analytics course, I had to switch my mode of learning and figured the best online learning style for me. I successfully finished a module about to finish another. Thank you Wale.
Good morning Mr wale. Watching your videos quench small portion of my taste on how to start as data analyst. As a student ,a course I did in my university last semester made me realised the skillful trend of my profession by blending it with data analytic skills. I don't mind being mentor by you Sir.

Good day Sir, I recently started following your video and I have subscribed as well, I really appreciate the insight you give they are real and not just abstract. Thanks for being so real about the journey... I am so ethusiastic about Data Analysis and I believe you would really be of help Sir!
I'm a Linux Admin of over 4 years now currently, 6+ in IT overall and got my masters in Data Science 2 years ago and have a Data Science blog and a Data Science capstone project that was part of my masters program. Still in the Job hunt for either a Data Analyst or a Data Scientist position. Applied to many jobs, none called me back. I feel like being in an IT career i'm burned out and the longer I stay, the less chance I have for a Data Scientist/Data Analyst role. Debating if I want to resign and focus on DS/DA projects to gain experience. Gotta keep trying and hope one day I can find one. Thanks for the informative video! Thanks.
Thanks Wale, Am currently in the HR field but am ready planning to move back to my educational background career Data Analytics cos I have a degree in Statistics... The plan is to get a special coach for accountability and progress tracking because in 6months max, I want to get an entry level DA role...or should I just train myself with materials all the way? Am glad to see the future me in you boss!
I have some questions for you. Do you work and live in Nigeria? If Yes, do you work for American and/or European companies remotely or do you work for Nigerian companies? As a Nigerian/African resident, how can a newbie position themselves for a remote job either in America or Europe??
I live and work in Nigeria. I work for a Multinational in Nigeria. I have never tried to get a job remotely abroad, but for someone who wants to position themselves, here are my 2 cents 1. you have pick a niche and be extremely good, certainly very much above average to compete with the guys abroad i.e programming, visualization, Cloud to mention a few 2. Try your hands on freelancing. do free projects to put your name out there. 3. Another way to put yourself out there is by way of applying for jobs. you have to be strategic and know what you are going for. connect with recruiters on Linkedin 4. Nothing is guaranteed. you may not get a job abroad but you will definitely get something here.
Thanks for being sincere, how can contact you on other platforms. I presently work with a company as an IT Support not reallyfine with, I want to move ahead, most time am on able to complete my courses online due to tasks at work. What do you advice?
Good day. Pls as a chartered accountant with my only experience as a banker, is data analytics really viable in a country like Naija where work experience in the field is mandatory to secure a job. Also considering that my certificate is not a school issue one but a google and IBM issued certificate. Thank you
Yes it is viable. And the good thing is you already have experience with data as a banker. So tailor your resume to fit with the DA skills you have acquired.
Hi Wale, I’m a lawyer in Nigeria. How plausible is it for one who’s not so conversant with maths, and a lawyer, to switch to data analytics? I want to make a switch, but I really want to know what challenges await me in this path. Thanks 🙏
@@walegbadsPlease can you make a video for Explaining the difference. Because I'm confused of seeing different thing on UA-cam and something else on google...
Worst problem in south asia is competition. Regardless of how much you invest in data analytics there is always an engineer with no experience who lands the job coz recruiters and tech heads are ex engineers. Frustrating
