I have the dipper kit. The lee powder dispenser same as you only with the older hopper (red). I also have the lyman brass master. The lee dispenser is more accurate. I also have the lee auto drum measure on my progressive press. It's also very accurate and comes with multiple drums, which you can initially set up and change them out very easily.
Great concept but would be interesting with a redo with more filled dispensers. My finding is that the Lee plasctic can deviate *a lot*. I often get sudden drops where it goes from 4.0gr to 3.6 and then back to 4.5. Don't know whats going on but it's almost new and I've tried fiddling with it but with no success. It's gotten to where I need to measure every single load.
i use a RCBS like the hornady,,,,i set my measure and reweigh every 10th load to make sure im still within range,,,,im not in any hurry when loading so i dont have progressive press unless its for shotgun, Pistol and rifle, i normally load 300 or more or i wait until i have that many empties. thanks for your post
In the Lee manual, when using a dipper you shouldn’t scoop it, you’re supposed to place it bottom first into the powder and let it fall in, avoiding some that are more packed versus loose charges in the dipper.
Best powders for those dispensers are ball powders such as CFE223, Kernel based powders for large caliber rifles would meter very well and using digital-scale auto-dropper are the best. I like FA Intellidropper
I have both Lee and Hornady. Use a double baffle and you will be hitting +-0.1 grain easily with ball powder like H335 or Staball. This means I don't have to weight every charge even for precision practice rounds. Extruded powder by nature doesn't work well with measurement by volume, but they are easy to add that final few kernels once you are close.
IMO, throwing ball powder is easy. On the other hand, depending on the granule size and shape, some extruded powders are throwable to decent ES if proper technique is found and used consistently. Others are strictly throw light and trickle up material. The main variable in this that is not discussed is the effect of different measure operating methods. For extruded powders, this can make a lot of difference, and the old BS about it not mattering as long as you are consistent does not survive careful testing.

I have that exact pocket scale and can say that it's not consistent enough for reloading. Not only will the zero drift the longer it's on, taring won't correct it. I was able to watch it slowly say my charges were getting heavier despite my balance beam saying nothing was changing. I tried replicating with a single bullet and the same thing happened.
I went back to my beam scale..... dbl checking every 5th and 10th load..... I also have the same electronic scale.... its not good even after re calibrating it.tare was bad also

I have done it both ways and have noticed very little difference. But yes the manual does say to push scoop down into powder. 👍

You'll find more accurate powder drops if the powder measure level is above 1/2 full .

factory ammo can vary that much from one shot to the next. just stay with a slightly lighter grain load as you learn.
there is no way any of that would be consistent, esp with a low canister of powder,also learn how to use a powder dipper properly
