The zx10r gen 1 has shorter wheel base than the GSXR 600 and CBR 600 2004.

Brilliant to see the old Kwacker hold its own, I have a C1 in blue with a full Sato system PC3, BMC filter, down 1 tooth a front and up 1 on the rear and its putting out 173.67bhp at the wheel and I love it....not bad for a 12year old bike.
The fact there is that much of a difference in technology and time and the bmw still struggles is amazing
There is nothin like these bikes still they are a breed of there own even stock there just so light flickable and raw power
My first gen ZX10 is a beast monster it's been modified it's got third gen cams and it's been Dyno tune and I'm still giving them hell, roll racing and down at the track at thunder Valley I hope to be in the nines in the quarter mile next race season we'll see 💪💪💪💪
Right on man. Ya its crazy how competitive a 20 year old bike still is. I managed high 9s with the OZ wheels, exhaust and a tune, stock wheel base. It'll do it. Good job bro!
We forget that even at stock the gen one weights around 170kgs which is one heck of a deal for its stock 175bhp and modding it to make more bhp is simply ...freaking awesome ..it is a beast .no other manufacture in 2004 was as close to to its performance at that time
Suzuki did make a legendary bike in 2005. The K5. But it's good in a different way. It's a sharp precise weapon. Where the ZX10R 2004/2005 is a wild beast.

The BMW also has a STOCK quick shifter which I don't have, so its give and take...
I'm not strapped, just lowered the front an inch n half. I just know how to ride the shit out of it.
An Army buddy of mine has a 2007 zx10 that he is willing to sell to me for next to nothing. I was never a zx10 person until after riding his which is modded a bit. That's how I found your vidz. Gen1 !! There's a reason they call it the widow maker. I had one I in 09 full Titanium devil, PC3 ,wossner piston kit, corrello rods, I'd take just about everything on the road. It waz 100mph bike in 1St gear. Top fuel dragster on 2 wheels, 04 ZX10R DOMINATOR.

08 is 3rd gen. Good bike, but Gen1 and 4 are where its at.
Gen 1 pure power. Good Low end and mid power.
The newer have more topend.
Good if you buy it for a trackbike.
Low end and mid is nice if you enjoy it on public roads also :-)

I had -1 back in June, but went back to stock because I didnt like top end cut off on the bike. Im going to get a tune in a week or so and play with my suspension a little then we'll have a rematch if your up for it

I agree with you for the most part, but the new BMW is far and away the most powerful superbike to ever be produced. It takes a lot for even other brand new bikes to hang with them.
So I think my old ten is allowed to have a thinner head gasket, and 08 factory intake race cam. Other than that its the same bolt ons everyone else has.

I know all about Sprockets man thanks. It's done for better acceleration. I extended red line 700rpm to keep top speed too.

Hey bro, it's not an easy process. Took me forever to finally get it to work.
One option is to send ecu off somewhere like ghul and have them extend it for you as high as you want.
Other option which I did, is buy the ignition module to go along with power commander. Once you get that and hook it up, go to dyno jets web site and print their red line rev extend waiver form. Fill it out and mail it in to them. They will then email you a code to enter into power commander. With the software open on your laptop, hit function or alt F on keyboard. This brings up a box where you can enter code and activate rev extend with ignition module. Then take bike to dyno and get it tuned all the way to new redline. Make sure to hook up the rpm lead from dyno to a wire coming out of ignition module to get actual rpm. Coil pick up on bike won't register the new extended rpm reading. The system will typically only give you an extra 500 rpm. I had dyno jet rep take remote control of my tuners dyno and he ended up giving me an extra 900 actually. I accidentally wrote 700 before. 500 is prob all you should do with stock motor.

OZ wheels, ignition module with advanced timing and extended red line. 08 race intake cam, milled head, thin head gasket, polished intake and exhaust ports. Light weight rotors, battery.
SpeedDemon Z Nice man!....how did you extend your RPM range, what limit? I notice I hit 13K way to easy and I miss my shift sometimes. Did you notice a big difference with the OZ wheels? How much did those cost if you dont' mind me askn?
I have the ignition module on my pc3. You have to send a waiver to dyno jet and they will send a code to raise rev limit usually by 500 rpm. They did mine 900 for me. Also, although your tachometer says you're hitting 13, you're not. The stock red line for this bike is 12,600. The tech is off. Is on mine too. I'm spinning 13,500 now but my tach reads over 14,000.
The wheels do make a big difference. More so at very high speeds. They ran me about $2,200.

What’s the set up on the 10 at the time ? +3 rear gearing, swb , and lowered ? Stock motor still on pump ? Trying to look at how to get my first gen running . I’m down 1 front gearing stock rear and just full bolt on stock motor and wheel base , our runs only good for about 160 here so anything helps

I feel the same way. Old bikes have that brutal power delivery, and no traction control. I love the Aprilia RSV4 Factory model. Will be my next bike. I am stretching my ZX10 very soon.

My 10 is lowered, BMW is strapped down. Then its just workin the throttle. I usually shift with the front end in the air to bring it back down.

Just depends which one you like more. They are def the best 1000s out there. ZX10 is cheaper, and with minor mods is just as fast, and powerful.
Hey speed demon what modifications did you have to beat the Beemer in this video. I always knew that 1st Gen zx10r had potential in stock form but this video surprised me for the win!

Full Akrapovich, pc3, ignition module, fully tuned, advanced timing, extended rev limit by 900 rpm, 520 conversation with +3 rear sprocket, O.Z. wheels, light battery.
Bike weighs 403 full of fuel with 170 whp. I weigh 175 no gear.
BMW is geared -1/1 he weighs 160.
+SpeedDemon Z so what is your actual Rev Limit set to? I was thinking I could go to around 13.8k... Would that be safe?
Mine is at 13,500 which is 900 over stock. You wouldn't need any more than that. The power curve is already falling off before then.
+SpeedDemon Z cool... Running the same head mods. as you are ( '08 Intake Race Cam, P&P head, have a .018 HG... but I think you said you had clearance issues with the .045 HG and .010 mill on the head I think), but also going 13.5 : 1 1051cc pistons in the bottom end with a APE crank.

I don’t have the rev extended and I’m just filter , full system, pc5 with a downloaded tune and -1 front gearing. My bike hits 150mph and feels like it hits a wall. It has a wind screen and mirror block offs and some minor weight reduc and me 170lb rider. Also @160 mph I’m only about 15000 away from redline and it really stops pulling . Just looking to be more competitive this season as I’m thinking about regearing and getting a new tune. Got any suggestions as my motor is 100% untouched , hoping to do some 08 retainers and then extent the rev and see what I can do from there. I been watching your channel since these videos came out ! Finally got my first gen and I’m looking to hurt feelings ! Haha greetings from Canada 👌🤘
Hey, I've been out of this for a little while now so dont check these much. These motors do hit a wall up top. They make a ton of low end torque but lack top end pull. I did an intake race cam to improve mine along with 1000 extra rpm but still not the greatest past 180. Put some fresh spark plugs in if you haven't yet and a custom tune will help. Maybe try stock front sprocket and like +1 or +2 rear instead for more top end
Drop as much weight off the bike as possible too. If you pull the head for 08 springs gonahead and have the head milled 10 thousands, and use a .055 head gasket instead of .065 stock one. Adds compression.
SpeedDemon Z Sweet deffs gonna try that gearing out , we don’t ever get to race past 170 around here but my current set up now I really can’t get past 160 even trying. Was really confused at my gps speeds and only about 1000 rpm from redline In 6th. yet gearing commander says -1 is good for 180 at least and that’s stock revlimit!! So something’s a miss on my bike and I’m hoping it’s just a weak tune , thanks again tho, not much for info on proper builds on gen1 .

This same BMW always runs a guy we know on a 2012 ZX10 with flash, akrapovic, march wheels, and different gearing. The BMW always gets him though. Slight weight difference in riders. Lighter BMW rider.

Increase Rear tooth sprocket = Less top Speed & more torque/pickup.

What mods do you have? I have a pristine stock 2005 with 12k miles, and just bought a downed 04 with 19k that I'm gonna highly mod. It needs a frame off restoration so it's a perfect canvas. Not touching my 05, it sits in My house lol.

More recent videos it's stretched, with a 30 shot of nitrous, ceramic wheel bearings, Braking lightweight rotors with titanium rotor bolts, only one rotor up front, multi function hub, nitrous map switch relay, and multiple different race fuel maps.
SpeedDemon Z I figured you would have had more than 169hp with those mods. do you remember how much HP you gained with the race cam?
Nikdik 1000 I don't remember the gains. did alot all at once so. helped mid range even more than top end tho. this isn't a high reading dyno either.

Lol ya some of the guys don't like going full throttle around even the smallest bend. Although we are just racing full throttle acceleration runs really. Some of us stay in it corner or not. Even on my old crusty, lowered suspension.

In response to close to stock BMW; Aside from a full exhaust there isn't much else you can do to the BMW. Add a PCV and tune it and get a couple HP, but even BMW will tell ya these bikes are very closely tuned for the Akrapovic. If nothing else the exhaust will make em run a little more lean; which equals more power than the rich set up they come from the factory. Then I guess you could add some light weight wheels, but I bet the stock BMW wheels are close to race weight to begin with.

mosermotors Ya that blows. Been warm in TX past week. I rode yesterday a little. Congrats on the 08. You will be happy with it for sure. Not many bikes can hang with a good 10. Very few could hang with the 10 till new 14 and BMW came out.

Did you upgrade the valve spring retainers?
Tried titanium retainers with kibble white valve springs, but that added weight to the valve train which may have contributed to breaking alot of springs. Went with 08 zx10 retainers after that with stock springs, and that worked fine.

@fzr1000 I never did. I used the titanium ones on the first build, at which time the stock gen 1 retainers were still ok. Then on the 2nd build I used the gen 3 retainers just because I researched that they were stronger.
Wondering if it was more a 2004 problem or just batches with poor QC
@fzr1000 I may have been just fine with the stock springs and retainers. I may have fixed what wasn't broke. Springs did break, but I was spinning 1000 rpm over stock.

Hey, no new videos. I broke something in the motor last year and havent pulled the motor apart. Just been doing other stuff so hasn't been a priority. Visit texas street scene UA-cam channel and watch video with silver acr viper vs cobra vs zx10. 4th pull 2nd nitrous pass I break the motor as the viper blows by me around 180 mph. 2000 hp viper.
