- Mother nature can be beautiful one minute and terrifying the next.
The following occurred Just days prior to the catastrophic Fuego Volcano eruption that has killed so many and devastated the local communities.
At the time of the hike we were blown away by the beauty of what we were seeing (Lee actually cried). Our dog, Occy, had an absolute blast joining the gang as we ascended almost 4000m.
A few days later there were more tears, as our hearts dropped when Fuego erupted on a much larger scale, causing Guatemala the greatest devastation in 40 years and stealing the lives of so many innocent people - leaving the survivors without homes and without many without the rest of their family.
Max went to the villages to offer aid and help in any way that he could. Along with providing medical supplies and money direct to survivors, we have decided to donate all of the proceeds that we have received this month from our Patreon account to “The God’s Child Project”. A local Antiguan charity that is directly involved in helping the survivors.

Hi guys, we really hope you get something out of this video. Guatemala is suffering at the moment and they need every bit of help they can get. That includes not just aid like donations, but also continued tourism. A lot of locals rely on the tourism trade to make a living a feed their families. Tours up the volcano have already restarted and Antigua is shaken but otherwise back to normal. Please consider Guatemala as your next travel destination, it is a beautiful country with the friendliest people going around : ).

My husband travels over there every year to teach at a local university and has seen those volcanoes many times. But you really don't think about what happens if they erupt. My heart goes out to all the people there.

I started watching your vids even before you were here in Guatemala, once you got,here I was really excited to see one of my fav youtubers film my beautiful country. The volcano eruption was devastating even me, that I live approximately 50 km away from the volcano got ashes. Thank you for your beloved message, thank you for using your platform to communicate the magnitude of the situation. Guatemala needs you, not just right now, but to give continuity to the situation, our people is going to need us in the near future, and as you learned, the Government is of none help. Beautiful but tragically country, with this happened, I, as a Guatemalan want you to keep coming here, and don't let these catastrophes keep you out of our country, which has a lot to offer you. I loved the Occy-cam! Just so great to have his perspective :) It was adorable when he saw the other dog's butt up ahead and hustled to get there! I was lol for real. The volcano shots were amazing, beautiful, once in a lifetime. I'm guessing since Lee is away that Max did the editing? Just saw this video and subscribed. I climbed Volcán de Agua right next to Antigua back in 1989 when I was travelling alone in my VW campervan from the top of Alaska to the bottom of South America and Europe , a three year journey before my van was stolen in Seville, Spain (no insurance, lost the lot!). No internet back then, no drones and no gopro. But I enjoyed your video and it certainly brought back many memories. Your video was well done in every way. Lovely dog also. Aww thank you! To be honest, not really. Well not so far anyway. I think a lot of people don't realize that for the first 5 years of Occy's life he was an outside dog in Australia. It gets bloody hot there and he's used to it!

That's so cool that you got so close to the volcano!! I've been to Guatemala a couple times, and when we stayed in Antigua we could see volcan de agua, which is pretty close to volcan del fuego, erupting every night. It was awesome and so surreal!

Max! Was this your edit?? You improved! You can soften your cuts (especially when doing interviews) by cutting/splicing audio and the video. For example go 3 secs before and after the bits you want and cut the audio but let the video transition. Ahhh I'm so proud of you!! Also your eyebrows are beautiful and with so many close-up shots on them I'd be remiss to not say so.

WOW, no words, but I'll try, lol! This footage is amazing. Seeing a volcano erupting in real time was awesome. You see it in documentaries, but coming from you two just as it was happening makes it more real to me. I'm so happy that you are helping with your time and voice to raise money for this cause, just terrible how these natural disasters can really devastate a community like this. Great video! Editing skill on point with music and that hiking climbing low feet angle are 💯👍you guys were pretty high elevation in just 1day. What was the total gain? And what was the name of company used?
Thank you Shoko. We climbed up with 'Wicho's and Charlie's' and I believe the elevation gain was around 1500m in which 1200m was climbed the first day and the last 300m in the early morning!

Now in September 2024, after all what happend, this shot, Max and Lee hand in hand before the soon to explode vulcano, is a pretty heavy one. And in it's darkness very beautiful. The lyriks are creepy perfect. ("Join the army of the shadows" ...)

It must have been so difficult for you guys to see the beauty of this area and all the special people you met be affected by this terrible eruption. I know how you must have felt because I climbed Mount Agung in Bali last year only 2 days after they evacuated the entire area because of a threatening volcano eruption.

I just love you guys! Occy is soooo cute!!!! I hiked the Pacaya volcano last weekend for my birthday and it was an amazing experience watching the lava so close. I will definitely hike Acatenango soon (hopefully next year) cause watching the Volcan de Fuego erupting in front of you must be AMAZING. After watching this video, I have more eagerness to climb Acatenango, thanks to you guys! Lee, you are beautiful and have an amazing body!!!! You make a great couple :)
