Kool FM 'Halloween Special' 1999 Drum & Bass | DJ Profile with MCs Skibadee + Riddla + Funsta + IC3

- Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. Super Sundays on London's premier pirate, Kool FM 94.5, were nothing short of a spectacle. Thousands of listeners would be glued to their radio sets with their dials fixed to 94.5FM. This era was symbolic as it was towards to the end of the century and there was a new millennium on the horizon. Sadly, it was the end of the 90s, the end of an era. Jungle music had now morphed into this dark hard hitting industrial sound, which was newly styled as Drum & Bass. Rave nights in London and up and down the country couldn't get enough of the music. With the success of legendary producers like Goldie, Roni Size, Adam F, Photek and many others opening the door for more exposure. MCs were now playing a big part in DNB, although some events still used hosts, the trend of MCing had changed and there was a huge demand for MCs, with them rinsing out back to back nonstop like it was some olympic relay. MCs like Riddla D, Funsta and IC3 were also adding to Kool FM's vast array of prized MCs and Skibadee had turned into lyrical animal, MCing at breakneck speed with ease and yet again inspiring a generation of MCs.
Not forgetting DJ Profile who later became part of the 360 Showcase with Nicky Blackmarket and Fatman D which is still going on strong. For several years DJ Profile had worked at the greatly loved Black Market Records, in Soho.

Super sundays on Kool was a religion for me
Same for us brother!! Kool FM was an institution. Their contribution to the scene is unmeasurable. They did so much. Yet all these newbies make documentaries and Kool don't even get a mention them. Kool FM was the heartbeat of the scene. It was everyone's go to station.

I used absolutely love it when they used to do the open forum I never had internet then so to be able to call up and chat all things life and music and all relevant things and hear other people’s opinion just shows how much ahead of time they where
@@DUBFELLA I am glad you brought that up. I actually called in a few times back then. It was Five-0 and Eastman that mainly did that Open Forum show after DJ Jinx's morning show. Yeh they spoke about the violence at Telepathy Adrenalin Village, Leah Betts, tons of deep topics. I'll try to see if we can get hold of an open forum show so we can upload it. That would be pretty sweet to have that included in our Kool FM playlist amongst the 100s of tapes we have already.

@@DUBFELLA I am sure amongst a few of us we have some of his sets. I rate Jinx as DJ and he was also had a style of hosting shows back then. I remember his jingles. Those sets still resonate with me until this day. Fingers crossed we get some of those sets uploaded. I'd love to get open forum show uploaded.
