- The Virginia and Truckee is one of America's oldest railroads. Originally built to serve the mining industry. Tracks were laid in 1869 and follow a 14 mile stretch of the original line from Virginia City to Gold Hill, Nevada. The locomotive puts on a good show as it climbs the 3% grade towards Virginia City. Most of this area looks very much like it did a hundred years ago. For more information click link here www.virginiatr...
Great footage. I’m the conductor in the forward most car.

A Beautiful steam engine chuffing through the valley, awesome.

Neat! I live in Gold Hill, NC but it's no where near as beautiful as Gold Hill, NV. This is on my bucket list of tourist railroads to visit.
That was awesome to see the steam train going through some amazing scenery.

Great video. I'm one of the engineers in your video. Definitely one of the best videos I've seen of the V&T you cover a lot of the good parts of the railroad.

Wonderful
I just watched some videos of old gold mines and the wheels on the old mining carts were made by Virginia and Truckee.
I wonder what they are using to produce steam. It's not coal or wood, I don't see much smoke
Same type of loco as the one at Huckleberry RR in MI! :) I see they have the oil conversion on this engine instead of using coal. Thanks for sharing!
That Nathan 5 Chime sounds like the current whistle from Nevada Northern Railway 93…
My favorite Railroad, just a lot of History
What's the story of the derelict steam locomotive in the opening shot
