Whas it a mistake to take Arizona Highway 163 through Monument Valley?

- On this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I are driving through the Navajo Nation on our way to Moab, Utah. When we reach Kayenta, Arizona we have a choice of taking the shorter route by staying on Arizona Highway 160 and taking Highway 191 North to Moab or taking the slower route, Highway 163 through Monument Valley. We decided to take Highway 163 through Monument Valley because we always wanted to see this scenic part of Arizona. Was the longer route worth it? Watch this episode to find out! Monument Valley and US 163 were locked down when we drove through there in 2020, nice drive! My understanding is that it was formed by a combination of erosion down and tectonic pressure up. Enjoy the rest of your drive and Moab, that part of Utah is spectacular!!
It was a great drive! Actually, this is from last October, been slowly rolling out these videos to last the winter. I now have a better idea of what to see in Monument Valley and plan on going back!
