  • Thank you for all the positive feedback on the EZ Earthbox covers video, this video continues the Earthbox ideas with a PVC based plant support structure that you can easily make.
    Here is a link to the cutting instructions on Google drive: drive.google.com/file/d/1lQS2...
    This support has worked great for me and I use it on almost every one of my boxes. You can easily change the height or number of top openings to accommodate different plants. The 24 inch supports have worked well for me.

    If you like the content I produce and would like to help support this channel there is one really easy way and it won't cost you anything. By using one of my Amazon links below any time you begin your shopping I will get a small referral reward even if you don't buy the product listed (when an item is purchased). These little bits add up and help me to buy more garden items to make more videos!
    You can use my general amazon link (amzn.to/3qjBw6K) or check out one of the tools below. These are tools I use every day in my garden and highly recommend.
    Tree saw - this Silky Professional F180 has a comfortable grip and cuts through branches with ease. I use this for things too large for the pruners. To date there is no rust on it, I put a loop of paracord through the hole in tha handle to make it easier to hang. Link: amzn.to/35Mb77Z
    Pruners - The Felco F-2 Pruners are the choice of gardening experts everywhere. They seem to last forever, if you are a real heavy user you can buy replacement blades and make them like new again. Link: amzn.to/3qjzgMO
    Snippers - For more precise work such as cutting delicate leaves off of new starts, these Corona stainless steel snippers work great. They have a long narrow blade to get into the tight spots on your seedlings or to prune smaller plants. Link: amzn.to/2TZmk2B
    Trowel - Now this isn't really classified as a trowel but the Corona Scopp is my everyday all prupose tool that I probably use more than anything else (besides the pruners). This is not the best for digging in the soil but I don't really do much of that in my food forest. This is an excellent tool for potting, which I do a lot of. It holds a lot more than a traditional trowel and is a very well built tool. I've left it out in the rain many times and no rust. Link: amzn.to/3zRa5We
    Knife - This Morakniv knife has held up well, it stays sharp and while the blade has lost its bright color it has not rusted. I use this for opening bags of soil and cutting ropes and twine. This knife is fairly inexpensive and includes a belt holster if you prefer to carry it that way. Link: amzn.to/3d9IPbD

    I've been struggling with trellis, cages, stakes for years with my earthboxes. This is excellent! You should market and sell them. I'm surprised Earthbox itself doesnt steal your idea and sell them. Anyway, thanks again!

    So thanks for this video. I have 2 older earth boxes that we have resurrected for growing tomatoes and chillies with the grand daughters. We have been looking for a simple support method and will use this design. From downunder in Australia.

    Many, many thanks for taking the time to show how this is done. I have two earthboxes that are already set up and growing with 3 peppers in each. Not sure that I'll try to build your frames now and add them or wait until next year. You rock!

    What do you think would be the maximum height you can go to with the uprights? My tomatoes get a lot taller than 3 feet!

      I haven't tried watermelon in an EB but squash does very well.

      @@GardeningSolutions I'm guessing watermelon will probably be ok as well

    This is a nice idea thank you! What veggies are you going to support with this? For indeterminate tomatoes do you think you could build it 6 ft high? Any reason that wouldn’t work?

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  2 місяці тому +1

      I use it for peppers and tomatoes. If you wanted to built it a lot higher maybe go with 3/4" pvc instead, no reason why that wouldn't work.

    Might be a silly question, but can you get by with a "tight" assembly with no glue used so as to facilitate: (a) storage of cages between seasons and (b) flexibility to change out height pipes?

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you can certainly do that. There's no real stress on any of the joints so it should stay together just fine. You could also glue the top & bottom sections and just leave the uprights loose so you can store easily or change the height.

    Hello! Thanks for the video! I tried to open the Google drive link but it's telling me it no longer exists. Any way to get a copy of it?

    Have you ruled out spray painting the PVC first and touching up the final product as needed? Seems like that would be efficient…

    • @GardeningSolutions
      @GardeningSolutions  Рік тому

      I'm sure that would work too but you would want to mask off the ends where the glue goes. Good suggestion!

      Your 35 minute video how to make and show how to make PVC cage for the earthbox is a blessing. Thank-you.
