Taking BART from downtown San Francisco to the airport (SFO)

Leaving San Francisco on the morning of Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. Walked east down Market Street to the Montgomery BART Station. I then made the rookie mistake of getting on the green line, which doesn't go to the airport. Fortunately, a local was nice enough to alert me about this or I would have just ended up back downtown. I then had to transfer to the red line, which DOES go to the airport. From there, I took the airbus to terminal 2 for my Alaska flight to Las Vegas.

Pretty safe. But don't ride after 8-9pm. BART has implemented new police patrols and fare inspector runs during the day. But at night it can still get dicey occasionally.

BART is similar to an S-bahn, a commuter metro/subway. It gets busy during commute hours, but is lightly used outside of the commute.
