KEY TIP~ relatable content goes crazy for engagement (views, shares, comments, likes)
I fell down the trap of animation edits and "world records" but they popped off after a bit
Edit: solely making shorts is for subs + views; it's hard to get a large loyal fanbase but you can still get a decent-sized one

the most important 2 stats from my experience is AVD and the "Viewed Vs Swiped Away" Stats.
also longer is better for shorts as long as you have good AVD

Honestly, everything below 5k Shorts views is luck based
UA-cam "tests" every single video with about 2k impressions (as long as channel not shadowbanned) and puts the video into the agorithm for about 15 mins
However sometimes this test (randomly) goes a bit longer or more intense and the video gets (rarely) even up to 10k "test views"
This doesn't say anything, you can tell if a short did well if it qualified for a SECOND test
So 1k + 1k the next day is WAY better than 8k views initially (from my experience, there are up to 4 "tests" on more and more refined audiences)
And if you really nailed it, the video gets past the "tests" and gains consistent growth every day
Mine very often still get views after 2 months

Hey @Shoota, I think a BIG part of posting shorts is that viewers (me) have to scroll quite a ways down to find that "Shorts" section on your channel. Oftentimes, I just move on to my next subscribed channel.

Shorts are kind of weird, I did UA-cam for a bit and I posted some shorts. Some got a few thousand views some don’t but something to note is that they can just suddenly blow up later down the line. I even got a pretty bad short get over 100k views. So keep it up.

sometimes it's luck with short form, I feel like long form will always try to find the right audience for a good video

I‘d say without your shorts you‘d also have less views on normal vids (I’m a creator myself with a few 100 thousand subs). I uploaded many shorts and it affected my long form vids positively. But don’t spam that. Remember… the first 100 people that UA-cam pushes your short to are affecting whether your short blows up or not. Enough with long talking. Wish you luck✌🏻
