They show your video to people close to your niche, if they respond well, they will show the video to similar people, and over and over and over again until people stop showing interest in the video. Then the video has served its purpose and doesn’t need to be shown anymore

So i tried to apply a few times for the program but it said "reused content" so i deleted all reused videos and tried to apply again but i dont have that option anymore.. it says: "You cannot earn any income from your channel"

@@saurabhmishrasm8930 It's possible with shorts because the algorithm pushes it to viewers at the beginning. Views flatline after the first day or so if the short doesn't gain traction on its own. It's much harder to get those view numbers with the long form video algorithm though.

I have a couple questions. So I see where UA-cam talks about remixing other creators' shorts and adding their clips to your shorts, but it doesn't necessarily say if you'll still be eligible to monetize those shorts or not. Do you know if you can still make money by remixing other peoples shorts? Also, I see hundreds of different accounts posting shorts from the same podcasts over and over each and every day and when looking at their accounts, it's all stuff from say for example: Joe Rogan, or Theo Von, or other big name podcasters, and these pages posting these clips have millions of views and subscribers, are they getting paid for this reused content? Or are they eligible to get paid for this? I'm just starting out and I'm trying to learn the ropes, I am making self help/motivational advice shorts and inspiration type videos and I know it's a repetitive niche on here, but I have notebooks full of "wisdom" about discipline, self-control, perseverance and similar traits that I have come up with the past few years. Any time I think of a new way to explain one of these traits or new ways to describe it to help others understand it and develop these traits I write it down in my notebooks and now I'm transferring them into shorts and maybe long form videos as well, but I just feel unoriginal and I'm wondering if when I meet the 1,000 subs and 10m views will I be able to monetize them and make money from them? Sorry for the long message, I'm just trying to learn all of this stuff and stop worrying about it because I want to make money doing it, but I don't want to be unaware of everything I should know about it. It may take 1 week or it may take 3 months it depends on your skill level and how fast you can find out what works within your niche. On a video I'll be releasing end of next week will cover how to edit your shorts so keep an eye out for that!

Great video! I’m still considering if it would be worth for me to create shorts. I have a Dutch channel which means my audience is way smaller. Also my niche if finance which makes the audience even smaller. So still not sure if it would be worth.
I looked on social blade. The shorts channel he made had ~13M when he posted this video (5th of April). A month later, on the 1st of May, it has surpassed 100M views. That's 100M views in two months! Success is exponential as they say.

You're missing the most important part though... Long format content. Shorts are good if you just want some side money to pay for your Starbucks, but if you're investing this much time into building a channel with 50k subs around a niche -- You better start cranking out some legitimate content. Look at your 2 viral videos and make a 5-10 minute MINIMUM video on that subject. "Is Neymar the funniest of all time" or something. Clickbait and call him the GOAT. Then have good digestible content. And link the viral short to the main video. Your CPM will 100x. Best of luck!

I edit all my short videos and long form videos, I clearly show this throughout the video. My channel is no where near making $50 a day, I never claimed this. I make on average $85 a week which is around $11 dollars a day.

I also edit my shorts substantially so that there's a noticeable difference between the short and the original video. I always thoroughly credit the original creator in my pinned comments and lastly I make shorts about content creators that are the least likely to copyright strike me. That's how I avoid copyright issues.

Btw, did you have any difficulties on getting accepted into the YPP. UA-cam usually won't monetize funny moments or compilation channels even with edits
I had no difficulty being accepted (if I didn't get accepted you wouldn't see any revenue in my analytics) and I am still within the YPP to this day. I speak about this in my next video on how to exactly make your content so you can be accepted in the YPP ( it seems to be a grey area for many people) , so keep an eye out for the next video.

Excellent content, my friend. I'm sitting here making original content, and realizing how much longer it will take to gain followers. I can make a short featuring myself that might get 1.3k views, and gain 6 followers. It almost feels fraudulent to get paid off other people's content, but that's what UA-cam shorts seem to be, at the moment. That being said- definitely get the money/views/followers while you can! With shorts you can post reused content as-long as you "make funny or thoughtful revision" of the content. So with a soccer moment I would add some type of edit to make sure it can be monetized. With long form you can't really get around using reused content.
If you read the UA-cam monetization rules, there is a rule stating that you can re-use content as long as you add some value or add a new view on the content. For example, I add edits to the soccer content which is adding value.
WOW! I have to say the biggest thing I took from this (I'm half way through right now) but when you said limit yourself to 1 hour per edit made me feel so sane! I was wondering if others would spend the time it took just to make the crappy videos I do? I can see I'm getting better but I'm doing 2 to 3 hours per video and they may be 30-40 seconds long. After Trying UA-cam after watching your video a few weeks ago I can say I am blown away with what has happened!! 23,000 views and I started strictly because of you, with ZERO skills in editing or really knowledge behind UA-cam aside from a viewers point of view so just wanted to say thank you!
Still Pennies and it's May. Remember the hype around this in December/Jan. The only ones making serious money are channels raking in 10s of Millions of views PER day. It's a waste to even spend time working on them as a small creator. Rather focus on long form. Right now, 500 long form views pays more than 50000 Shorts views for me. So there's only one option here if revenue is in mind.
@R J shorts Africa rpm is Low. But 100000 views gave me 2 dollars this week with shorts. 1k long form views gave me about 1.5$ but that's on higher end and specific to each video. Usually it's 70c per 1000. The other week my Shorts rpm was 1cent lmao. It's a waste of time and a pity cause if it actually paid I'd be going all in. 10c would have been the winning start.
Shorts are literally a waste of time if revenue is the goal here. My channel is dead. I tried Shorts and they failed last year. Magically they start hitting the algorithm 6 months later. My channel views have launched like never before a vertical rise so intense and glorious to me. But the revenue? Abysmal. I can't see messages from Studio Creator telling me I'm 1000% increase over the last 28 days but the revenue I made is like $8. I worked it out. I would need 500 000 views to 1 Million views PER DAY to be please with the revenue coming in. If they can adjust the RPM to a better rate they would be worth it. I said from the beginning that 10c would be the winning start. I'm stuck on 2c. It's a waste of time. And there were heroes in Feb saying the rates will be adjusted soon "It's just getting started". Lies. Also, Shorts do not equate to long format views AT all. They try and sell this idea to you that Short views will be converted to long form on your channel. Lies man. I've seen maybe a 0.2% increase. These are just vanity numbers and nothing to get excited about. It's a pity that none of these platforms can pay decent for Short form content. Facebook was actually the best but they've become so ridiculous with their restrictions I gave up.
You are right, content taking content that works on other platforms typically doesn't work. There's quite a lot to unpack on how to exactly get content to edit. I cover this in detail in my upcoming video so keep an eye out for that!

YT gives me $0.05 per 1000 views on a shorts... All depends on the audience... People falling down or wearing bikinis probably gets $100 per 1000 views haha... experimental art and animation not so much... I envy anyone who has the time and patience to attempt the gamble that is making a livable income from UA-cam... Just make what you love and enjoy your life... The audience will come...

I can make a short featuring myself that might get 1.3k views, and gain 6 followers. It almost feels fraudulent to get paid off other people's content, but that's what UA-cam shorts seem to be, at the moment. That being said- definitely get the money/views/followers while you can!

How did you get around copyrighted content/potential takedowns?
With shorts you can post reused content as-long as you "make funny or thoughtful revision" of the content. So with a soccer moment I would add some type of edit to make sure it can be monetized. With long form you can't really get around using reused content.

If you read the UA-cam monetization rules, there is a rule stating that you can re-use content as long as you add some value or add a new view on the content. For example, I add edits to the soccer content which is adding value.

WOW! I have to say the biggest thing I took from this (I'm half way through right now) but when you said limit yourself to 1 hour per edit made me feel so sane! I was wondering if others would spend the time it took just to make the crappy videos I do? I can see I'm getting better but I'm doing 2 to 3 hours per video and they may be 30-40 seconds long. Still Pennies and it's May. Remember the hype around this in December/Jan. The only ones making serious money are channels raking in 10s of Millions of views PER day. It's a waste to even spend time working on them as a small creator. Rather focus on long form. Right now, 500 long form views pays more than 50000 Shorts views for me. So there's only one option here if revenue is in mind.

@R J shorts Africa rpm is Low. But 100000 views gave me 2 dollars this week with shorts. 1k long form views gave me about 1.5$ but that's on higher end and specific to each video. Usually it's 70c per 1000. The other week my Shorts rpm was 1cent lmao. It's a waste of time and a pity cause if it actually paid I'd be going all in. 10c would have been the winning start.

Shorts are literally a waste of time if revenue is the goal here. My channel is dead. I tried Shorts and they failed last year. Magically they start hitting the algorithm 6 months later. My channel views have launched like never before a vertical rise so intense and glorious to me. But the revenue? Abysmal. I can't see messages from Studio Creator telling me I'm 1000% increase over the last 28 days but the revenue I made is like $8. I worked it out. I would need 500 000 views to 1 Million views PER DAY to be please with the revenue coming in. If they can adjust the RPM to a better rate they would be worth it. I said from the beginning that 10c would be the winning start. I'm stuck on 2c. It's a waste of time. And there were heroes in Feb saying the rates will be adjusted soon "It's just getting started". Lies.
Also, Shorts do not equate to long format views AT all. They try and sell this idea to you that Short views will be converted to long form on your channel. Lies man. I've seen maybe a 0.2% increase. These are just vanity numbers and nothing to get excited about. It's a pity that none of these platforms can pay decent for Short form content. Facebook was actually the best but they've become so ridiculous with their restrictions I gave up.

YT gives me $0.05 per 1000 views on a shorts... All depends on the audience... People falling down or wearing bikinis probably gets $100 per 1000 views haha... experimental art and animation not so much... I envy anyone who has the time and patience to attempt the gamble that is making a livable income from UA-cam... Just make what you love and enjoy your life... The audience will come...
