How about a list of top safe-bet fragrances to gift this coming holiday? Maybe based or designated by age (30's, 40's, etc) Or fresh, floral, woodsy, tobacco or maybe a safe bet to gift from each type.
Thanks a lot for the video Chaos. I have heard that spraying fragrances on the skin might be bad in the long run. Could you please shed some light in this topic? I believe it should be a great idea for a new video. Thumbs up guys.
For selecting I often use the Randomizer app on my phone. I basically catalogued every sample/bottle I have and If I have multiple (like 4) of the same brand I create their own brand listing. I don't have a significant amount of a Brand I just put it in an "Other" listing i also created lol. So i just rotate lists, click and it randomizes a scent I should wear for the day/night. I think I have or have had at least 170 individual samples/bottles. I know I posted this like a few times lol but it helps
The one about re-applying is huge. Most men dont Think about it and 3 hours after they leave home the scent is gone, so they overcompensate by doing 20 sprays in the Morning choking everybody out. 4 sprays in the Morning, 4 in a Nice little sample for after launch. You Can even get the samples for free at the parfume shop when You try them out, keep the sample sprayer instead of Throwing it out. You Will smell fresh all day.
Prada Carbon, Chanel Allure/Allure Sport, YSL Y EDP, Dior Sauvage EDP ...great ''dumb reach' fragrances. I've had great success with blind buys after the reviews I've watched on the UA-cams. Nicely done!
I agree with wearing too much. I don't know why but sometimes I'll spray 4 or 5 times and can't smell myself, but everyone else says I'm a walking bomb lol. But one night I drank a gallon and a half of water. The next day I sprayed 3 times, and I could smell myself extremely well. Maybe it was because I was over hydrated lol. So my theory is hydration can play a factor in people smelling you and you smelling yourself.
I'm in my early mid-50's and have only worn about 3-4 types of cologne (i.e. Lagerfeld, Paco Rabanne, Paul Sabastian and Polo Green). That was until recently, that I felt it was time to change the game up! So, I added 3 more fragrances to the mix (i.e. Acqui Di Gio: Giorgio Armani, Tres Nuit: Pour Homme and Emerge: Noir). I love'em! I have about 6 fragrances to choose from so far and I'll add another 3 next week and be done! To me, 9 fragrances are enough for whatever I have going on!
I do 3 sprays. One on the wrist so I can smell myself whenever I want. And two on the neck. I’m still in class so I don’t want to suffocate people around me. Or be accused of wearing to much
I went to a shop to test out a few fragrances. I ended up loving Pacco Rabanne Pure XS Night. The woman working there kept urging me towards other fragrances, and implying that pure xs night doesn't smell good. Its all about personal preferences. I love black xs pure night and glad i got it
Dallas, some great points mentioned here. In regards to point # 1, and as you touched upon in #4 I think every fragrance is different. The more you get to know each fragrance , the more that you wear them , you can decipher the amount of sprays. I really do not buy into having a set amount of sprays.. It can easily range from 1 spray to over 20 DEPENDING on the fragrance. Wearing even just 1 spray of Montale Red Aoud in an enclosed office setting is very different(and not even a good idea for that scenario) than wearing Guerlain Limon Verde 20 sprays outdoors on a spring day (Its basically water, but smells like a beautiful natural lime, I love it on hot days for that reason) This is where, as a collector and fragrance lover you get better over time at knowing each fragrance, how far they reach, how they perform in an environment, the weather, occasion , etc etc.
I just tried adding Ambroxan to my non scented lotion today. I applied, waited a bit and did my spray routine. I spray 3 on each side of the neck, behind each ear, 1 on the back of the neck, 2 times in my hair, 3 times on each arm, 2 times on the chest, 1 time on the lower back, 1 time on each side of the groin area, and multiple times on the shirt and coat of the day. I have a separate bottle of lotion infused with molecule 1 w/ iris, I’ll use for other fragrances. Today it is Eros flame.
I have way more fall/winter fragrances than I do summer fragrances. I haven’t been able to find something for summer that I truly love. I’ve been wearing Armaf CDNIM as my everyday fragrance. Although the opening of Prada l’homme is incredible, I tend to reach for the Armaf. I just ordered Layton so we will see.
For summer, I suggest trying a Fig based fragrance.. Neroli fragrances are often hard to pull off if you're not there yet. Citruses and aquatics are nice, but the norm. So, if you want to branch out, try a fig based fragrance.
Summer: Dior Homme Cologne, Mugler Cologne, Millisime Imperial, Roja Elysium, Nishane Hacivat, Prada Carbon (dumb reach) Xerjoff Nio, Creed Original Vetiver, Creed Virgin Island Water (summer only) Mancera Cedrat Boise, Aqua Di Parma Fico Di Amalfi...that was basically 2019 Summer rotation for me. Hope this helps. You can get most if not all of these in 5ml or 10ml decants in FB groups for $10 to $30 depending on size and which fragrance you choose. Great way to wear before a full bottle purchase.
Well it depends on where you're going, what you're doing, the weather, the strength of the fragrance, and how close you are going to be around people. I work in a setting where people are spread apart alot so I go with 6 to 8 DEPENDING on the strength of the fragrance....oh and the season.
Great topic Dallas. I just go for one spray on each side of my neck, then one spray on the back of the neck. This can help avoid getting nose blind. Others can smell it better, and I will get the occasional whiff, but not too strong. I always look forward to your well detailed videos, and I'm glad you like the Dior Homme range. Cheers!
8 sprays! Wow. I use aaron Terence Hughes oud , believe me 1 spray is more than enough, even 1/2 a spray is ample, and after 4-5 hrs it gets even more beautiful.
I feel you on going outside of your comfort zone. One million Cologne kind of turned me off to rose scents. Mainly due to the fact that it has an old lady floral perfume type vibe. But after seeing such great feedback on toy boy I ended up trying it and I love the rose and found it very masculine. Another one is I used to avoid unisex fragrances at all cost, which didn't give my collection much variety and character. Great video as always Ash !
My wife is one who wears too little. I keep tell her to do 3 sprays, please. One spray of Tiffany & Co Intense is relatively weak, but 3 (1 on each arm, and one on the chest is perfect.)
If I''m standing there and can't make up my mind on what to grab, I'll go for whatever is is less than half full so I can eventually finish the bottle...unless it's discontinued of course....

I spray from feet on up. Overspray or Go Home. That is my motto
Some of the rules that are indicative of me: 1. If I don't fall in love with the scent, I don't buy it. 2. Never buy a fragrance in hopes it will impress others. 3. Don't overspray 4. Overpriced fragrances aren't worth it (I am looking at you Tom Ford) so keep them to a minimum. 5. Wear whatever you love, whenever you want. No rules. 6. Aventus is overrated.
Another thing I would suggest is getting some diversity in your collection in the beginning. I realized that pretty quick. I bought several very fast because I liked them but when I started looking at what to wear I realized that while different or for different situations, a lot of them were kind of the same as in green, blue or lavender fragrances. While you might have several fragrances, you might only have a couple different types.
I learned more about fragrances from UA-cam than an actual department store. Which it shouldn't be surprising but it makes me upset about my first time actually buying fragrances. I asked the workers what's a good cologne and they suggested Aqua Digio just because people always buy it.
I use 5 sprays max depending on what I wear. Jpg le beau le parfum I only do 3 sprays because the performance is crazy strong also savauge edp the same thing. But Dylan blue I do 5 and dolce and gabbana light blue eau intense I do 5 also. This is for spring/summer
Sounds like you need to downsize your collection. You only need 3 for every season. 1 business for day 1 casual for night and 1 for formal. 12 bottles total. My opinion though
For selecting I often use the Randomizer app on my phone. I basically catalogued every sample/bottle I have and If I have multiple (like 4) of the same brand I create their own brand listing. My opinion on a fragrance is most important to me and should be for everyone but I love watching your videos to be introduced to more fragrances as well as another frag heads opinion because that’s super important to me as well
Great channel Dallas. I worry about wearing a fragrance that may clash with my wife’s. Is that a problem? Wearing a fragrance that doesn’t work well with your dates fragrance?
I go with 2 sprays. Back of my neck and front of my neck. Very mild projection which i like and most of the people prefer to smell you mild. Also i prefer to get Compliments saying "You smell nice" rather than saying "Your fragrance smell nice"...///
8 sprayer average..4 if beast mode I usually wear SOTD night before after shower before bed I have 110 bottles so I have designer to niche Don’t ever under spray , I spray like a damn BOSS 2 sprays behind each year 2 sprays on each forearm I never reapply anymore I have blind bought 50 frags love them all , well maybe not joop! I work indoors in an office so I’m okay, but I do save certain frags for cold weather
I once sprayed three sprays of pdm layton exclusif. One behind each ear and one on the wrist then dabbed the wrists. Ended up sitting in the middle of back seat of a car and I could tell the two people on each side were uncomfortable lol. The closed area and this frag is not a good mix.
2-3 Sprays on - Dates - Gym - School/work 5 Sprays on - the Street - going Shopping/daytime outdoor 7 Sprays on - Partys - the Beach - Events like Festivals
Jack P I wore 1 spray of Eros to work one day and although I couldn't smell it a guy walked in and said hmmm who's wearing cologne and it was a large open room.. I love Eros, but damn it's a projection beast .
Boot War he was definitely talking about me . There was only a few guys in the room and I'm the only one who wears cologne . If I wear Eros to work , I only use 1 spray to intentionally not drown people out . On my way to work I always stop for a cup of coffee and when I wear Eros the woman behind the counter always says that I smell great . When I wear any other colongne she never says a word .
I spray my fragrances on my clothes too. I also over spray because i want to be smelled. The only time I do not overspray is when I am wearing something harsh like PDM Layton Exclusif.
Nice video... Some of those I did them myself before I began my journey. The one thing I've learn is to carry a sample always... And man it does work... When most guys apply frags at the beginning of the day and don't refresh themselves. I always carry a sample of the frag I'm wearing and I notice that I'm always standing out of the majority of the crowd, specially in clubs and similar places. In what regards fragrance/season I can only say I'm a season frag freak 😂... Have them all separated accordingly 😂
Made this mistake with Savauge. 100ml bottle with 2 sprays out of it. Hate the shit. Same with Dior Homme Intense. I also did it with Allure Homme sport Extrme. But I learned to love that one. I always run a 5 ml sample and test drive it and not just a sprayed paper card
If you were going to use YSL Y edp, how many sprays will you use? This fragrance is really confusing, sometimes it only lasts 2-3 hours and sometimes it lasts all day on my skin!
I’m of the opinion, that applying perfumes/colognes to pulse points would actually make your fragrance dissipate even faster, due to the higher heat concentration being generated at these locations. Probably better for releasing the scent more intensely, rather than extending its longevity. .... again, just my 2 cents 🧐
Was about to buy Dylan Blue without trying, since it's all positive reviews and often compared to Sauvage and Blue de Chanel, which I both own. Luckily I bought a couple of testers first and found out I didn't like Dylan Blue at all and much rather bought something else! Only downside is that not everything is easy to come by as a tester
Nice video! and great tips, I was thinking about replying at the office, I love Versace Pour Homme badly, the problem is that it doesn't perform so well on my skin, but the first hour of this fragrance project a lot, so replying at the office at lunch time it will be to obvious and maybe offensive... Any thoughts?
Suggestion. Having a.list of some classic perfumes from some other traditions like Egypt and other Arabic countries. Some for East Indian type of stuff. They might have the ball of the park a few times as well.
kinda a dumb question but if you cant smell your fragrance does it mean that others cant smell it either? i wear eros and eau fraiche and i know that eros is strong but is it super noticeable?
Zac Moore no, it just means you’re going nose blind Here’s an example of this happening: let’s say you go to Macy’s and smell a bunch of fragrances. Once you smells 6-7 in a row, it’s hard to tell what they actually smell like, although people around you can still smell it If you suddenly can’t smell your fragrance after a short while, it’s because your nose got used to the scent. Don’t spray more just because you’re no longer able to smell it. If you want to avoid this problem in the future, spray your wrists or something
I live in Colorado now, but am moving to Florida this next fall. I'm gonna have to relearn my cologne use skills. In Colorado u gotta use all colognes pretty heavy cause it's so dry.
I just started my Collection and i have 2, Versace Eros for like going out. And Chanel Allur Sport Eau Extreme for pretty much everything else, like a everyday cologne if u will. Did I pick right? Im broke pretty much, so I hope i did lol
Well, that's YOUR opinion. I base the amount of sprays I use on the versatility, projection, and sillage of the particular fragrance. That's MY opinion.
I divide my collection up by seasons and right now have all the fall stuff out. Helps in picking out what to wear. I've been guilty of the not enough sprays and not refreshing during the day. Good on the spray part and the other gives me a chance to wear more than one fragrance each day if they are shorter lasting.
I see girls go crazy spraying like 5-6 allll over. They smell great the whole flipping area does lol. In my world I see this n often it's the cheap body mists or Victoria secret stuff.
Flame by Versace and Eros nice scent and Lacoste for men White box. This one is Dope and Mr. Burberry and Burberry ryame awesome scent and Chanel Blu my favorite.
I'd be cautious about that, considering fragrances have alcohol and could burn more sensitive areas. You could spray your underwear and around your waist, plus close to your armpits (not in your armpits) and that should work fine. I spray my underwear sometimes and love getting a whiff of fragrance when I sit down, LOL.
Hope this helps you fellas out! These mistakes can kill your fragrance game

I usually run 4 sprays 3 if it has beast projection.
Kyle Stevens yeah I definitely don’t go over 4 sprays ...
I always have the feeling that nobody can smell it even after 10 sprays, not even myself
Agreed! If you're wearing 8 sprays of anything, then you're "that guy". Fragrance should be optional for those around you.
4 sprays are perfect no need for more
Tip for #2, pick out the fragrance the night before. I do the same with clothing. This eliminates decision fatigue and waste of time. 👌🏻
i did like what you said and i sleepless that night .
Sometimes your in a different mood in the morning
8 sprays bro? 4 is a lot in most cases unless it's a cheapie with poor projection
Same. 2-4 for most of them.
I do take 5-6 sprays for some poor projection frags like Versace poor homme and Azzaro Chrome.
4 sprays - 2 on neck, one on chest and one on the happy trail. Ha!
3 sprays with heavy and 6 sprays with light ..

Thank you for your knowledge and wisdom. This video is very appreciated, especially since I am a new enthusiast.
Excellent, helpful tips. Thanks for posting.
You've become one of the best fragrance reviewers by now!
I once sprayed three sprays of pdm layton exclusif. One behind each ear and one on the wrist then dabbed the wrists. Ended up sitting in the middle of back seat of a car and I could tell the two people on each side were uncomfortable lol. The closed area and this frag is not a good mix.

Hey man. This was one of top 10 useful videos on your channel. I loved that. Thanks bro
Invictus aqua and rush of unicorns are my go to scents in the summer. YSL Y EDP, pure XS, and black phantom for spring, fall, and winter
Prada L’homme or weird enough, one spray of Eros are my go to
nice! eros is awesome
Jack P I wore 1 spray of Eros to work one day and although I couldn't smell it a guy walked in and said hmmm who's wearing cologne and it was a large open room.. I love Eros, but damn it's a projection beast .
Mj312 maybe they was talking about someone else
Boot War he was definitely talking about me . There was only a few guys in the room and I'm the only one who wears cologne . If I wear Eros to work , I only use 1 spray to intentionally not drown people out . On my way to work I always stop for a cup of coffee and when I wear Eros the woman behind the counter always says that I smell great . When I wear any other colongne she never says a word .
I spray my fragrances on my clothes too. I also over spray because i want to be smelled. The only time I do not overspray is when I am wearing something harsh like PDM Layton Exclusif.
How about layton ?
I will pick 1 or 2 (weather pending) the night before, and grab the one of 2 that works with the weather
Great idea!
I stock with Oud fragrances even that I'm trying other's as well but I always turn back to Oud last longest
Great points and advice that is going to do alot of good !
Love the frequency of videos bro!
thank you brother!
Excelente video 👏!!! Very helpful tips. Thank you
If you were going to use YSL Y edp, how many sprays will you use? This fragrance is really confusing, sometimes it only lasts 2-3 hours and sometimes it lasts all day on my skin!
2-5 depending on the situation
Thanks for the tips....it was very helpful!!
Where do you spray it then
These are great tips and observations, Dallas. Let’s hope people heed your advice.
Was about to buy Dylan Blue without trying, since it's all positive reviews and often compared to Sauvage and Blue de Chanel, which I both own. Luckily I bought a couple of testers first and found out I didn't like Dylan Blue at all and much rather bought something else! Only downside is that not everything is easy to come by as a tester
same thing happened to me with dylan blue, still a very likeable scent but i wish it was a touch more masculine. a bit too fruity for me.
I was really hoping you'd mention not judging a fragrance by the test strip
Brilliant, love your review.
Nice video! and great tips, I was thinking about replying at the office, I love Versace Pour Homme badly, the problem is that it doesn't perform so well on my skin, but the first hour of this fragrance project a lot, so replying at the office at lunch time it will be to obvious and maybe offensive... Any thoughts?
My dumb reaches are Dior Sauvage or Prada Carbon for warm days and Armani Code Profumo or Stronger With You for winter or fall.
Zac Moore no, it just means you’re going nose blind
Here’s an example of this happening: let’s say you go to Macy’s and smell a bunch of fragrances. Once you smells 6-7 in a row, it’s hard to tell what they actually smell like, although people around you can still smell it
If you suddenly can’t smell your fragrance after a short while, it’s because your nose got used to the scent. Don’t spray more just because you’re no longer able to smell it. If you want to avoid this problem in the future, spray your wrists or something
@@cheezuschrist1102 that is handy to know, thanks!
Zac Moore no problem dude
Please do a comparison between an old dior sauvage bottle and a 2019 one. I didn't see any video like this. To see longevity, siage..
Great video, this was needed.
Hello ...what are the first three words spoken? Thanks
As fragrance enthusiasts?
I live in Colorado now, but am moving to Florida this next fall. I'm gonna have to relearn my cologne use skills. In Colorado u gotta use all colognes pretty heavy cause it's so dry.
Lol not in the winter.
I usually use about 5 to 6 sprays but it depends on what it is.8 sprays is too much
Depends on the fragrances 3-4 sprays is more than enough for me lol. Unless I'm desperate for attention i double the amount of sprays.
Agreed! Don't forget to subscribe for more content if you haven't already!
Very tips, such useful, wow
Great topic. Thanks.
I just started my Collection and i have 2, Versace Eros for like going out. And Chanel Allur Sport Eau Extreme for pretty much everything else, like a everyday cologne if u will. Did I pick right? Im broke pretty much, so I hope i did lol
At least four sprays no matter what the fragrance for me, summer or winter, More is better
Josh _ dumbest thing i’ve heard in a while, have a good time killing everyone around you
Christian Delve what’s the point of wearing only a couple sprays if no one can smell you... have fun wasting your cologne.
Which is stronger between Eros Vs spicebomb?
Spicebomb
8 sprays? Way too much, 2 spray is the way to go in my opinion
Well, that's YOUR opinion. I base the amount of sprays I use on the versatility, projection, and sillage of the particular fragrance. That's MY opinion.
All depends on the fragrance longevity, projection.
I used to do 6 sprays of One Million... six... for the classroom
I’m messing with the long hair bro that style cool af
thanks brotha!
Good advice!
I’m allergic to cologne when I put it to my skin so I can only spray it to my shirts.
I divide my collection up by seasons and right now have all the fall stuff out. Helps in picking out what to wear. I've been guilty of the not enough sprays and not refreshing during the day. Good on the spray part and the other gives me a chance to wear more than one fragrance each day if they are shorter lasting.
Great tips bro 🙂
I see girls go crazy spraying like 5-6 allll over. They smell great the whole flipping area does lol. In my world I see this n often it's the cheap body mists or Victoria secret stuff.
Flame by Versace and Eros nice scent and Lacoste for men White box. This one is Dope and Mr. Burberry and Burberry ryame awesome scent and Chanel Blu my favorite.
What about spraying armpits or pubic areas? Ok or faux paus
@@clapforboobies5892 I'll give it a rip lol
I have sprayed my pelvic area with some success. In between my buddy and abdomen.
@@sebastienc.2257 I've done that as well
I'd be cautious about that, considering fragrances have alcohol and could burn more sensitive areas. You could spray your underwear and around your waist, plus close to your armpits (not in your armpits) and that should work fine. I spray my underwear sometimes and love getting a whiff of fragrance when I sit down, LOL.
@@DarlingNikki2 i was thinking about the pulse points...and theres alot of heat in those 2 areas
Excellent video.
