There is no doubt in my mind that Geddy Lee is the greatest bassist ever. This cover cemented it even further.
Victor wooten *
@@jeypizz2955 he's top ten for sure but geddy is too amazing imo.
Geezer Butler included, just stry to play War Pigs Bass line!
@@fannys941 agreed. NIB is one of the coolest things I can play, I tried War Pigs awhile ago but couldn't get past 3 minutes in. Should try it again.
John Entwistle
Couldn't imagine playing it that clean for one, then singing too...gtf outa here 🤣 AWSOME job as usual Paul!!!
Don't forget, he's also playing a synth keyboard with his feet in the music video. Geddy Lee is a beast.
That 7/8 section kills my hands.
Edit: 3 weeks later and I have the whole song down. 6 months in and thanks to your vid I can now play one of my favorite basslines from my biggest bass hero.
Man I’m trying it for 3 weeks. I just can’t. Frustrating.
@@maine577 try slowing down the 7/8 section to 50% speed. After a while you start to realize how repetitive the line actually is and it turns into a cakewalk.
@@progrockrules seconded. It's a tough one. Even after learning it, I still accidentally make one slight mistake now and then while playing it.
same
You know…I learned how to play this by ear…can’t say it was 100% on par with Geddy but what I played was pretty solid. But that was before I learned how to read sheet music. Looking at it now I never realized how technical this piece was. Especially the time changes
This was a song I never thought I could learn ever. I picked my bass back up and started to go through a few simple song scales after 20 years! Thanks to your video I have the bones of this song, it may take me a month to play it altogether but my love of the bass guitar has risen.
Thank you so much for making this impossible song look playable
I remember you mentioning you were having a hard time with the solo section, nice to see you kept at it and nailed it.
RUSH!
간결함.
그 안에 있는 복잡함.
진짜 이런 연주는 완벽 그 자체임.
That bass sounds fantastic! Great "Geddy growl!"
Monsterous bass line! Well played too, man. I'm playing along with my black Geddy Lee Fender Jazz and I'm having a blast. Thanks for posting.
There is no better drummer than Neil Pert R.I.P.
That middle part is a beast but I think I got it now. Thanks Paul. Great job!
Awesome - both the original and your cover!
Great job. Love the tone. Very well done. Thanks for posting. I think I'll learn this one. Looks fun.
So simple, so clean!
As always a KILLER job. Holy smokes on that tone 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sounds great, nice one 👍🤘🇬🇧
This is a wonderful guide! Thank you so much! I'm learning, but cannot wait til I develop the skills and can try this!
Love!! Excellent cover... Thanks!
great job Paul thanks!!
Really well played. Thanks for this cover and the tabs. I struggle with the speed, but it's coming along.
Buenísimo...MIL GRACIAS !!!
Excelente tutorial, muchas gracias, desde Buenos Aires, Argentina
Nice tone, those high notes sounds amazing.
Nailed it 👍🏻🤘🏻🎸
The tone is fantastic.
Great job! Thank you
So great bass part!
Hell ya dude i watched this video like 5 times in my car before I went in my house hope my neighbors enjoyed it too 😂😂😂😂
Rock on tho brother nice cover anytime anyone covers geddy I will always tip my hat to…what a powerhouse trio man these riffs punch you right in the fucking face I love it
Peace bro!!
Fantastic! Thank you
Spot on. Thank you sir!
Awesome man! Really not so easy!!!
WOW!!!!!!! So great!
Great job dude, hope a video like this of vital signs or the twilight zone
Thank you so much for the vid!
Thanks Paul, best tutorial on this song out there- and believe me, I've seen them all!
REQUEST: Inna-Godda-Davida [Or however you spell it lol]
nice tutorial! I just bought a new bass and want to learn this.
NAILED IT !!!!!!!!!
I appreciate this vid Paul-took me a month but I have it down now. Here's to the low end buddy.
You make it look so easy! Can I get a copy of the tabs? This is on my bucket list and I think I can handle it now with good tabs. Thx in advance!!!
Thank you for posting this!! I've made a lot of progress on the 7/8 section, but my wrist keeps tensing. Any tips for practicing (besides gradually building up speed)? I'd love input from fellow bassists! 😊🎶
Awesome job
Awesome. ❤
Damn that's an intense complicated bass line.
Thank you man!
never thought i would be humbled so hard
Que locura de tema... 🤪
🤘🏽
Great cover
Nice play...❤❤❤❤❤
Can you provide link where we can purchase a pdf of this exact copy of the sheet music? Thank you. Great video.
Thanks again
Learning how to play the song made me a better person
Could you do Red Barchetta sometime?

Great tutorial, thanks!
Awesome
Thank's I am back practicing this.
Thanks
what kind of equipment did u use ? very good work
Nice tone it’s absolutely killer. What gear are you using?
Thanks for posting this! What distortion pedal are you using?
On this video I'm using the Ampeg SVT-VR Classic plugin!
What type of bass are you using? I like the sound
doble puntillo?
Geddy Lee is the GOAT in the song-bassist vocalist category. But in the solo bass category, it's JACO.
What bass is this?
Why does the tabs say 5 when you do an open? Is it one of those optional notes that some songs have? None the less awesome playing!
Playing an open string produces the same note as playing the city fret on the string to its left
Fifth fret*
Just imagine Geddy Lee sings alongside when he plays this. I mean i'm a drummer and it's not an easy song even on drums. You have to practice lots of hours/days if you want to play like Neil did.
I love how you take the hands out of the instrument.
When airplane pilots are learning to accept to use the automatic landing system they are trained to do it: take the hand out of the wheel. It´s hard to explain to someone who knows and want to do something that they can´t do it.
Cycle that ending riff into the blank spots.

🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
show
The tabs are incorrect, people can be confused since you play A0 not E5 (same note, doesnt make different sound), the riff is easier on the hand playing open A. Should be E0-E2-E0-E2-E3-A0 like you play.
It’s always best to film with a straight on camera shot….

i just broke my E string bruh now i can't learn this song rip
Incredible tone. My aspiration is to one day be able to play a Rush song on bass. I can dream. 🤘
Thanks again
Thanks
