For me, one of the highlights of this year is, Romania and Bulgaria are unintentionally knitting together a beautiful two-part story.
Romania's "Alcohol You" is about the confusion and heartbreak caused by a bad relationship or breakup, and the drunken / irrational state you're in, where, even though you've been hurt, you have a hard time cutting yourself from the person hurting you, so you keep on clinging to the relationship, and hope that this time it will actually work.
Bulgaria's "Tears Getting Sober" comes with the catharsis, the release from all of that confusion and pain, and the realisation that "My pain will soon be over" and "In time my wound will be a scar". No more clinging to pain - it's time to take care of the self, forget the past, and let go.
Heck, even the song titles show the contrast and journey present in the songs!
Another thing that I like is, "Alcohol You" ends with "I will call you when I'm strong", which tries to inject some hope that things will get better, but happiness is still perceived as depending on the other. However, in "Tears Getting Sober", as it happens in life as well, achieving that "strength" has the opposite effect, so instead of wanting to re-connect, you end up finally seeing things from a healthy perspective.
The path to getting over someone and getting them back is one and the same.

I honestly think this song is so unique in the competition, it is so haunting and relatable, who doesn't know what a break up tastes like? we are only strong enough to call our ex partners when we are drunk, when the alcohol numbs our pain. Her voice just perfectly delivers the drama of what it means to lose someone you love!

here in 2021, after Romania failed to make it in to final. I think with Alcohol You they even had chance of victory. Amnesia was decent song but staging destroyed all the chances. She was moving so much that couldn't balance vocals.

I think people dislike this because they are used to the original. Even I thought it was really weird at first, but at my second listen I think its just perfect, this song was missing a strong part.
