@@mj2005gundam statistically ball units, fighters, and all aerial assault type vehicles had the most kills during the one year war in the Federation side with the GM coming at a close second because they were introduced at a later time, meaning the ball was good enough to some extent, we even see it fight side to side with other GM's because they supplement them for their lack of fire support since GM's are only given to some pilots and not all pilots, also defensively the bomber ball or mine laying ball is the scariest ball of them all, they are the reason only a few zeon support reach Earth or even block out other colonies because they will scatter a huge grid in a space sector with magnetic mines of which they can maneuver around and even manually detonate which for any unfortunate ship or mobile suit to even think about going after a bomber ball has to be suicidal or a newtype because you gotta be either an ace or a psychic if you wanna fight against those, if Anavel was the nightmare of Solomon the bomber ball was the nightmare of space for Zeon, in short never underestimate the ball it's a simple small craft with huge a55 guns and it goes fast as well and sometimes it can lay huge a55 bombs and your gonna have to be careful not to step on its sh1t or you will be a newtype ghost
these seem like a really fun little thing to customise in a lot of ways. just a little paintjob, making one of the canon variants of it, just changing the weapon, or even a larger change like the Polypod
Imagine a Ball with a pair of Shenlong/Virsago arms, a GN drive, and either with Flauros's Dainslef railguns or GP02's Nuke Bazooka. Truly the Ballest Ball of all time 😂🤣😂🤣
The Ball was everything but Not useless, it was very fast, small, hard to hit and the 180mm Cannon can one shot most of the Zeon Suits of the OYW. You can compare it to the Hellcat Tank.
it's not useless at all, plus it's cheap and easy to build as it's basically a refitted mobile worker. meanwhile it took months and tons of funds to get the mobile suit development program operational
They were already being used as civilian use machines. … like CAT diggers/excavators but for space. So they added guns to the top and wallah. War machine death spheres

Terrible Armor, but the Ball was the best hit and run "suit" of the OYW. And the 180mm cannon was strong enough to take down every Zeon Mobile Suit.
Zeon Mobile suits tanked up to 120mm rounds, didn't they?

Yes
They do use 3mm pegs for attachment, so you can mount the spares onto something else
I loved this kit. And if you customise, you can even mount more weapons on them.
Attach some arm arms parts onto the hard point and load it with guns
