- Flying the Piper Meridian from Dare County, NC (KMQI) to Washington Dulles (KIAD) and back. Significant icing on the way there and some screwy routing and how to deal with it on the way back. All for Eaglemania's first theater show in months at the Birchmere Theater in Alexandria, VA.

Enjoyed watching your working Potomac to get out of Dulles to the south. Good job. Know that airspace well. Used to fly out of Leesburg (JYO), often going to my wife's hometown of Edenton (EDE) just west of Elizabeth City.

Great video, as usual!!! Wonderful to see how other brains plan and execute a flight! Didn't know you were based at KMQI - I remember vividly flying there on Dec 17 2003 for the Centennial... on the return to JYO I waited 45 rainy and muggy minutes in line with the engines running on the Cessna 310R I had then... now I have Meridian N31062 (RVSM Certified!) based at Manassas. Next time you fly to the DC area I very strongly recommend KHEF over KIAD!!!

I have fond memories of HEF; I actually did most of my PPL training at IAD (there was actually a couple schools based there in 1993) and soloed at HEF. I actually like IAD for the services, proximity to DC, and they are CAA so it's not outrageously expensive. Hope we cross paths sometime soon!

Lol - we get that question all the time! I actually am the drummer! It helps contain the sound so that the drums dont bleed into the vocal mics and it makes it much easier for our sound guy to get a good vocal mix and control the sound of the rest of the band. Thanks for watching!
I fly a Piper Meridian with the same color scheme. I was wondering if you could share the checklist with me.! The one I have is from Legacy Training and is too wide to fit on the yoke

A bit confused as to why you still were taking ATC direction even after IFR cancellation. It's like using CVFR except we don't use that in the US.

I guess your IFR, today’s pilots can’t see out the window because they got so many cameras. Safety hazard but hey as long as you make a good video. And if anything goes wrong we have a front row seat what not to do. Traffic 1 o’clock 1/2 mile we’ll forgetabout it
Uh…no. I don’t do it if it isn’t safe. I can see perfectly fine and none of the cameras interfere with my forward visibility.
As you seem to be trolling for videos where you can enjoy watching something ‘go wrong’, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
