These things use to keep me awake so many nights when I lived in Lambhill on the West Highland Line. My house was right beside a set of lights, sometimes these would sit for ages just idling in the middle of the night right outside my bedroom window. I loved it
I lived next to a 3 track railway as a kid in the 70's, there were a set of lights 50 yards down from my house, used to spend time looking at the engines waiting, spoiled to see all these now classic trains, used to get my football back several times a day through the massive hole in the fence! 🥰
Surely these polluting locos should now be scrapped. Just look at the amount of particulates and the C02 emissions are also high. Due to climate change carbon targets, we can not afford to continue operation of this outdated technology.
Used to watch these at Abergavenny station when I was a kid, early 70’s, waiting for my granny to arrive on the platform (with parents obviously) when she came to visit.
Awesome ! 37 403 looking and sounding fantastic. I’ll need to get down to Bo’ness soon! Thank you for posting. Liked and subscribed! Cheers, building a layout at East Coast DCC
Do love these trains. Ever since I was young. I now have an old oo gauge one that's unforetunately dead. Would love to drive one of get a sit along in the cab.
@Invicta View that's the plan eventually. I'm on the border of Norfolk and Lincolnshire so it's about 170 miles up to this place. Haha. I just need to win the lottery. 😉
Does anyone know where I can actually travel on a train with a Class 37 loco? I live up near Kyle of Lochalsh and sometimes see them up here but there’s never anyone around to ask where it came from. Looks like some kind of tour and I’d give my right tit to go on one. I’m 44 and grew up travelling on these beautiful locos. The Kyle to Inverness run was so much better on them.
Experienced and talented drivers can actually play tunes with those 37000 locomotive horns; let's hear it for those smoky two cycle diesels. I love 'em.
What exhaust measure have been put into the engines to make them more environmentally friendly? I’m just wondering as the engine was a smoke machine on start ups and when under throttle.

I loved it
Same here, only at Coatbridge.
@Chris Taylor - I'm jealous - 100% would love to live in a place like that! Not sure the wife would be so pleased though ;-))
@@stepheneyles2198 You could get a divorce? 🤣

Great to see this fine old loco powering up the incline , its a credit to all involved in its overhaul and maintenance

Is this a diesel electric loco? Or is it a direct drive?
Its a V12 diesel power unit attached to an alternator providing power to electric traction motors.
That sounds bizarre, almost like just ticking over ( yes I know nowt about trains, but the diesels are lovely)
The loco is being 'Run In' and is nowhere near full power. Thanks for your comments Brian.
@@BONESS27001 just like a new car engine or new turbo? Thanks.
Is it just me or does the tracks look warped at 2:18
The civil department are aware of this.
@Invicta View
Im sorry but I don't understand your comment " warped i.m.o." plane English please.

37 thousand horns?
So where does the driver of the loco sit ,, is it him in the middle or is it to the left side as it here in Australia.
Cheers from John in Australia.
The driver sits to the left hand side in the cab.
That track on the hill looks in rough shape?
Lovely is it comeing back 2 the main line
The loco will be back on the mainline soon.
Is this for the mainline or the heritage railway?
Should be on the mainline soon.
MEINE LORDZ 🔥

None, this is a 60 year old design.
@@BONESS27001 cool, thanks for replying, I was just wondering.
I doubt very much that those carriages are adding up to 396 tonnes😂
There was a dead Class 47 on the rear.
Thanks for commenting.
Nice
No wonder my lungs are full of black smuts!
What’s the location at 2:10?
Kinniel woods.
