Thanks for this review. I’ve used several different crochet hooks and after watching this I decided to buy a set of the Amours. These are the best hooks I’ve ever used. I love the handles and they are way lighter than the Boye ones I had with the thick rubber handles. I never would have tried them without seeing this. This detailed video really helped me decide.
I love your honesty, so refreshing. Reviewing should always be honest, it helps us as consumers to hear honest opinions about products. Saves me time on shopping when I have read honest reviews. I've heard nothing but good things about the Clover Amour and plan to get a full set. Thanks again for your honesty.
Thank you I have learned almost all I know about knitting and crochet off youtube videos and internet research. I want to make videos that help others, so they can learn from some of my mistakes!
I love your vlog. I agree with all of comments about each hook. I just purchased a Clover set from Amazon for $38. I got them last Friday. I love them, they are my favs.
Good morning cinnamon you're right the clover amor crochet hooks are the best I've bought me a set and boy I can't put that window those down they are wonderful thank you thank you for your beautiful tutorial and telling me what to use God bless you keep doing it keep doing your tutorials OK bye
Thanks for this video. I'm usually indecisive on which brand I like! I didn't even realize that some have the square shape! Again thank you for your video!
Thanks...I am not sponsored, so I don't owe anyone. But honestly almost everything I learned from looking things up online and off youtube...so it's nice to share what I have learned.
I absolutely love the Clover Amour hooks. I'm even wanting to get the full set of Clover Amour steel crochet hooks. I have a full set of steel hooks that aren't ergonomic. The lighted crochet hooks I have seen but I am hesitant to purchase them, but I think I may have to try them out because I do like to crochet with black yarn.
I will have to check those out. I do need to get a new 3.5 hook (my son chewed on mine) and I can't stand the snagging feeling when I work with it now...(even though it still does the job).
I just can't use those little thin hooks...my big hands feel empty. Lately my right thumb has been hurting pretty bad....I just need to let it rest a bit, but I love crocheting so much. My other option is to train my hand to crochet like a knife :-/
FYI, the lighted crochet hooks now come in a rechargeable set. You don’t have to buy those tiny batteries anymore. Great review, I also prefer the Boye hooks over the Susan Bates hooks. Have a great day. 😀
Love your videos ❤️ I was laughing out loud when you said ‘one of my kids chewed on the handles.’ OMG too funny! I only purchase Boye hooks. I love HL Yarnology hooks. Pretty colors with flowers on the thick handles, very affordable with 40% off coupon and yes the size is sort of printed on the handle. I do prefer the stamped indent. I will try the clover amour hooks with my 50% off coupon. Thanks for the suggestion. I didn’t think about the hook being pointed or square. 🤔 anyway enjoy 😊
I'm like you .I really like the Crochet Lite . Every time I go to Hobby Lobby and aren't using my coupon I buy one for less than 4,00 . I never use with light but like the feel of the hook. Enjoy you reviews..
I adore my ETIMO TULIP GOLDEN HOOKS made in Japan. I hold my crochet like a pen. The hooks are aluminium golden . The handle is ergonomique, Grey. Merci for your vidéo. Margot Belgium
Great video... I have child sized hands...so... the hooks with handles are probably all too big for them. I did try a friend’s Furl. Odessa; and it felt very awkward. So... I love my plain ol’ SusN Bates hooks. My backup hooks are. Boyd’s. However.. Next time I am at Joznn’s, I will try a clover Armour.. Everyone seems to love them. There is something very comforting about my Susan Bates hooks.... They feel warm, and familiar.. I learned on my mother’s beautiful toes colored Susan Bates hook...many gears ago... and lost that hook a couple of years ago.. Thanks for giving us so many really interesting videos💜
I really like the Susan Bates hooks and used them for years but I always had to add pencil grips because my hands would cramp. I just bought the set of Clover Amour hooks from Joann's with the 50% off coupon and omg I love them! So smooth and comfortable. I did see another video where the girl said the clover hooks are like a cross between the Boye and Susan Bates designs. Anyway just wanted to share and say thanks for the videos.
hi summer! like you, i do pencil grip. I love the lighted hooks. my boys gave me a set for mother's day 2 years ago! i am obsessed with aliexpress! yes does take some time for shipping.... but i'm ok with that. i found a set of light up hooks on aliexpress for $9.99. the set has a handle that is chargable and interchangeable heads. plus 2 settings for the light! it is now my fave hook [handle] to crochet with. some people who hold their hook in the pencil grip complain that the light on the lighted hooks hits them in the eye. the remedy for that is to put a dab of darker nail polish right on the tip.
I have a couple of metal hooks rn, I'm waiting for ergonomic ones however until then I used a rainbow loom to make a cover for them with rubber bands so it feels a lot better than polymer clay! I 10/10 recommend doing it if you find metal hooks uncomfortable and don't want to buy more hooks.
Later: OK... Today I was at Joann’s, and broke down and bought a Clover Amour H-8 Hook. I love it, and plan to buy 2-3 more. The handle feels really good, in my hand..and the size is so easy to see.
I've also noticed there is a huge difference in the bamboo and medal hook sizes. My Susan Bates 10 1/2 is much smaller than my bamboo 10. I've learned to ask about hooks before following patterns.
Very good review. I do crochet as therapy & can't use my old hooks, that get lost in my left hand. Bought Wal-Mart boye ergonomic hooks. Only complaint is they are not long enough for me. But at least I can crochet.
I have family that still live up there. One cousin in Anchorage and my Aunt and two other cousins are in Seward Alaska. We are planning a trip up there next summer!!
My issue with the Hobby Lobby hook is the stupid bump in the thumb area. I have cut that off and sanded the area down. I also dislike the way the yarn pulls--not as smooth as Clover amour. With Tulip etimo I dislike the hard bump for the thumb--again, I cut it off and sanded it down. I tend to buy my hooks off of Ebay. I just found the 10 piece Clover set for $20. I don't need any right now, but it is nice to know they are available.
Here is a link to my next video. In this video I tell you about the stitch I used and I share the FREE pattern it came from. ua-cam.com/video/MKBRHt8APoc/v-deo.html
I have to ask what the yarn you are using is. It is gorgeous and looks like it is easy to work with! I know it's Caron simply soft but what is the name of the color? I don't think I've ever seen this in any stores.
My daughter got me something similar it had 85 pieces. I'd tale the hooks off ur hands lol there's ones I don't have. But I love mine It comes with ones that have rubber handles and ones with nothing.
The yarn I am using in this video is Caron Simply Soft Rainbow Bright.. This video is where I talk about the pattern ua-cam.com/video/MKBRHt8APoc/v-deo.html This video is where I talk about the border ua-cam.com/video/kmS0pSSjZw4/v-deo.html I hope these links help!
Hi, they sell another the crochet tool with 4 hooks that includes the H. I have both. The thing I don't like about those folding hook sets is that the hooks do not snap in place and they fold back in as I crochet. Thanks for sharing
I'm watching this because my daughter chewed up my hooks 😆 I had the amazon set too but the metal part was colored. They were far too light for me. I like the heavier ones. But it seems like the lighter ones are preferred.
I have a giant stash of hooks... Started with Boye, then tried bamboo off eBay, Bates (which I have since learned to use and mostly like ok), then I settled on Clover soft touch. I don't care for the rubberized handles, and they only have the rubber thumb rest. I haven't tried Amour, but I'm happy with my soft touch ones. I also have one Tulip etimo in K - I can't deal with plastic on my yarn and those are still alimunum at that size. I like them, but would much rather have something like the soft touch. 😉
I have been thinking of trying the Tulip hooks, because Zelda talks so highly about them . I just can't decide if I want to get one, or just buy the whole set!
I'd try one! They're a lot like clovers to me, just a little longer handles. The head to me is nearly identical and the metal is just as good. The difference to me seems to be length, and you lose the pretty colors of the Amour hooks. That part doesn't matter to me as I use soft touch anyhow 😜
Amazon usually has the Clovers for under four bucks... I’ve been using these hooks for a while now, and they are worth every penny. Before I found my Clovers, I was a Susan Bates gal... I keep my Clovers in a pretty Vera Bradley pencil case, along with a few notions... I just throw my little bag into the bag of whatever project I am working on, and go. I won’t leave a hook with a project, because I know for sure I will lose it. Oh.. I recently tried a Susan Bates black handled hook, and it was too long fir my small hand. I gave the two I bought to my daughter..
If the number is printed onto the hook, you can put a coat of clear nail polish over it to protect it. It will wear off over time and you will need to reapply from time to time, but it will help the printed size last longer.
Summer's Tips and Stitches okay I have been watching them on UA-cam they look beautiful I had a feeling it might have been hard, can’t use them it would hurt my hand badly 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
I keep trying to use the Boye hooks, but just can’t... My favorite, by far, is the plain metal Susan abates hooks. No fancy hNdles needed.. or wanted. I love how the SB hooks feel in my hands.. 11-17-18... Boye hooks have a tapered shaft, while the Susan Bates has an in-line shaft... I have found that when I use a Boye hook, I have to make an extra little movement with my wrist, that I find annoying. 1-17-19. I am now using the Clover Amour hooks... I love them. I only have two...an 8 and a 10, But hope to get 2-3 more... I have a Joann’s gift card! Just me... It’s nit a good deal, if yiu din’t like, or use, the product. In most cases, yiu do get what you pay for... 😊 PS... It’s OK to be “fussy”.. You have to be comfortable with your tools. I’m very picky. I knits what usually works for me, and pretty much stick with those things... HOWEVER..,I am SO glad I made myself check out the Clover Amour Hooks!
I know your talking hooks but I'd like to see that stitch you was doing. I saw you use it I think. Back loop front loop pull through loops or was I seeing things. LOL... I'm getting old. Things happen. Hahaha
Excellent...that is the next video I am working. I will show you what I am working on, and I will show you with a bit of how to do that stitch on camera, and also I will put the link in the description to the FREE pattern I found on ravelery.
Hey Summer, i recently bought those lighted hook from Ali Express singularly for about $3 australian which would be even cheaper in your money.hope that helps you, also get set for under $10 soame brand you holding in video.sandra in oz
Both of the cheap hooks were either Boye or just not Susan Bates. Bates hooks have a rather pointed head and the distinctive, notch-cut-out look that all inline hooks have.
Hi hello I just wanted to let you know there is a way you might can save some of those hooks and make them work for you. Remember back in the old days they had sponge rollers. We use sponge rollers 2 soften the blow of using those metal hooks. They also have rollers that have like a little wire in a middle of them you can take them off of that wire and use them on your metal hooks it makes your metal hooks sulfur. I hope that you can understand what I'm trying to tell you just go to Walmart look for rollers and hopefully you'll see the ones that will work for you loving you Tina Wilson
I agree, I don't like the plastic ones as much as the aluminum . Luckily I don't use them really unless I am working with the Bernat Blanket yarn, which can be tough to work with regardless of the hooks.
There are sets of the light up hooks on Ebay for $12. Caution, if you are severely near sighted like I am, these are awful. They create a blinding halo effect around the work. This is one of the reasons I don't drive at night--lights tend to expand and a small traffic light appears huge and the distortions make it hard to see. That is what these light up hooks do. I would also caution against using them in the car because the light can be blinding--at least to me.
I have very small hands....so I love the regular metal hooks.. Susan Bates hooks are my favorites. However, I do have some Boye hooks, and can use thumb In s pinch.. I don’t have any hooks that have any kind of handle.. Snd I don’t want any. I have tried a friend’s Furl..with a handle..and found it to feel very awkward.. I’lll stick with my inexpensive, but besutifuk, Susan Bates.. Oh..some G’s are a 7, and some are not.. I don’t get it.. My new set of SB hooks didn’t even have a G..
Maybe its not fashionable but I like plain aluminum Boys hooks . Bates sharp hook makes me turn my wrist to much and hurts my wrist ...I broke my elbow years back and its never been the same!
if you go to loom a hat and watch Denise she does a rubber band handle for her hooks for loom knitting and it makes it softer you might like that on the metal hooks looks like you have a lot of them I hate you not getting any use out of them
If you don't use the crochet hook please give me we don't have crochet hook different sizes in my country and to buy online we don't have that kind of system too .
That rainbow yarn is gorgeous

I love your vlog. I agree with all of comments about each hook. I just purchased a Clover set from Amazon for $38. I got them last Friday. I love them, they are my favs.
I have bought some of my hooks at flea markets and garage sales. I got some of the older steel and aluminum hooks and I still use them
Good morning cinnamon you're right the clover amor crochet hooks are the best I've bought me a set and boy I can't put that window those down they are wonderful thank you thank you for your beautiful tutorial and telling me what to use God bless you keep doing it keep doing your tutorials OK bye
I have Boye hooks and Susan Bates hooks I prefer Susan Bates because they are more comfortable in my hands. Thanks for a great video. Denise from VA 😀
Thanks for this video. I'm usually indecisive on which brand I like! I didn't even realize that some have the square shape! Again thank you for your video!
I love the tutorial sessions also I want to make the Magic Circles also make the Granny Circle Baby Blanket it looked so easy and simple.
like your honest opinions thank you
Thanks...I am not sponsored, so I don't owe anyone. But honestly almost everything I learned from looking things up online and off youtube...so it's nice to share what I have learned.

I think I am going to get a few more two. I forgot how much I liked them until I made this video!
I would only buy one to try, I myself don't like them, the light is so btight its almost blinding, could just be my eyes.
Hi Summer , my favs are the clover soft touch , just wonderful to work with . 🤗
I will have to check those out. I do need to get a new 3.5 hook (my son chewed on mine) and I can't stand the snagging feeling when I work with it now...(even though it still does the job).
Your bicep is the BEST I HAVE RVER SEEN!!! Thank you so much. I’m a happy girl and agree with you about amour hooks.
Thank you
I always come back to my favorite Susan Bates regular hooks...no handles.. They are perfect for my small hands.
I just can't use those little thin hooks...my big hands feel empty. Lately my right thumb has been hurting pretty bad....I just need to let it rest a bit, but I love crocheting so much. My other option is to train my hand to crochet like a knife :-/
Love the project and thank you for the hook review!!!!!
Awesome! I have to sisters who were born in Alaska. I lived there for about 4 years. Planning a visit back there this year.
We plan on going out there next summer. we will be staying in Seward AK. I am super excited to head out there with my family.
Summer's Tips and Stitches
Ok great! Have a great time! I’m thinking probably around November for my trip. 😁
FYI, the lighted crochet hooks now come in a rechargeable set. You don’t have to buy those tiny batteries anymore. Great review, I also prefer the Boye hooks over the Susan Bates hooks. Have a great day. 😀
Good to know about those lighted crochet hooks. I forgot how much I liked them until I made this video...those might go on my birthday list!

No Problem. I hope you find something good.
My favorites are the ones from Hobby Lobby with bamboo handles.
I adore my ETIMO TULIP GOLDEN HOOKS made in Japan. I hold my crochet like a pen.
The hooks are aluminium golden .
The handle is ergonomique, Grey.
Merci for your vidéo.

very nice and through review of hooks, thanks
Since making this video I have heard of a few different hooks I would like to give a try! My collection just keeps growing!
I recently bought hooks from wish and I love them. I want to try a lighted hook. Love your videos. I hold like a knife

Check Ebay. I have found the 10 piece set for Clover Amour for $20-25.
Also, some of those off brands you find on Amazon are also on AliExress for cheaper. I paid like $2 for my bamboo hooks.
Absolutely love the wool you are working with 😍 can you tell me the brand and colour please.... Thank you for video very informative x
Caron Simply Soft, colorway rainbow brite
I've also noticed there is a huge difference in the bamboo and medal hook sizes. My Susan Bates 10 1/2 is much smaller than my bamboo 10. I've learned to ask about hooks before following patterns.

Summer, what do you think of FURLS hooks?
Maybe put some of those rubber pencil grippers to try crocheting with that on end
On those lighted crochet hooks, I have seen them at Michael's and hobby lobby. I got my mom a whole set but each were single and at time close out
I bought a set of rechargeable lighted crochet hooks for 10.00 with no shipping fees. I love them.
I live in Anchorage. Alaska!!! I had no idea you were from here!!! 🧡🦋🧶
I have family that still live up there. One cousin in Anchorage and my Aunt and two other cousins are in Seward Alaska. We are planning a trip up there next summer!!
If ever given the time.. maybe we can meet up for coffee!!!
My issue with the Hobby Lobby hook is the stupid bump in the thumb area. I have cut that off and sanded the area down. I also dislike the way the yarn pulls--not as smooth as Clover amour. The Boyes hook That is all I had to use for a long time. Now I use Tulip. I love Susan Bates but can't find them padded.
I have not heard of the Tulip hooks. I think I will check them out.
I saw that SB does have a padded set of hooks.. I use the regular ones..
I have to ask what the yarn you are using is. It is gorgeous and looks like it is easy to work with! I know it's Caron simply soft but what is the name of the color? I don't think I've ever seen this in any stores.
What about Hobby Lobby's Yarnology bamboo handle. You would love those it seems
My daughter got me something similar it had 85 pieces. I'd tale the hooks off ur hands lol there's ones I don't have. But I love mine It comes with ones that have rubber handles and ones with nothing.

Hi, they sell another the crochet tool with 4 hooks that includes the H. I have both. The thing I don't like about those folding hook sets is that the hooks do not snap in place and they fold back in as I crochet. Thanks for sharing
Thanks dear Aleta Sneed
I went to the Hardware Store and bought different size Plastic tubing and put it on my Susan Bates Hooks - not too bulky and can still see hook sizes
Due to my grip problems I prefer the lighted hooks with rubber grip
For me the susan bates with the gripper handle work the smoothest
I'm watching this because my daughter chewed up my hooks 😆 I had the amazon set too but the metal part was colored. They were far too light for me. I like the heavier ones. But it seems like the lighter ones are preferred.
I have a giant stash of hooks... Started with Boye, then tried bamboo off eBay, Bates (which I have since learned to use and mostly like ok), then I settled on Clover soft touch.
I love Boye hooks, only ones I use. 😊
So far clover amour have been my favorite also.
Pls am in Nigeria How can I get those crochet hook pls help me I need it
If the number is printed onto the hook, you can put a coat of clear nail polish over it to protect it. It will wear off over time and you will need to reapply from time to time, but it will help the printed size last longer.
I agree the clover are great I’ve been looking at the set on amazon , is the polymer clay hooks soft like the clover hooks?
no the polymer clay hooks are hard :-( which I haven't gotten or made any more)
Summer's Tips and Stitches okay I have been watching them on UA-cam they look beautiful I had a feeling it might have been hard, can’t use them it would hurt my hand badly 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

They do have another set of 4 Boye hooks in that little holder that you carry in your purse with 4 other sizes of the Boye hooks that has the H in it.
i brought Pencil grips to put on my hook
Yes, I have used them as well. Works great.
Hey Summer, i recently bought those lighted hook from Ali Express singularly for about $3 australian which would be even cheaper in your money.hope that helps you, also get set for under $10 soame brand you holding in video.sandra in oz
Sandra Schwientek I am gonna check that out right now!
I use pencil grips.
You should check out Amazon as the lighted set is only about $25 and they do offer free shipping with min. order.
Both of the cheap hooks were either Boye or just not Susan Bates. Bates hooks have a rather pointed head and the distinctive, notch-cut-out look that all inline hooks have.
I put a piece of pretty colored tape on my light hook battery cover and it doesn't come off anymore. I kelp losing the batteries
This is a good idea, I might just do this myself!

Hate the multi carry ones. Hooks don't stay in place keeps folding as I crochet.
Maybe its not fashionable but I like plain aluminum Boys hooks . Bates sharp hook makes me turn my wrist to much and hurts my wrist ...I broke my elbow years back and its never been the same!
I wanna put clay on my hooks but then i wont know what size they are lol
I etched the letter size into the end of the hook so I would remember the size!
There is the rechargeable crochet hooks on amazon don’t have to buy batteries there okay
Nice I think I will look there when I start completing my set!
None of those you've shown are Bates hooks
if you go to loom a hat and watch Denise she does a rubber band handle for her hooks for loom knitting and it makes it softer you might like that on the metal hooks looks like you have a lot of them I hate you not getting any use out of them
Boye is rounded
If you don't use the crochet hook please give me we don't have crochet hook different sizes in my country and to buy online we don't have that kind of system too .
Neither you showed were Susan Bates.
I hate Caron simply soft its soft ...but crochets terribly
Don't bother crocheting.. Just buy hooks.
Try the hooks with the bamboo handles.... I really enjoy mine
