My opinion is, that the mk7 clubsport are looking better than the mk8 clubsport.
My friend has one, I love it and it's really fast

Overboost works on any gear, however the torque increase will only happen on 3rd and higher gears.
I'll stick with my VR6
I personally disagree with your point about the DSG Farts, I love em on my GTI
I have the normal mk7 gti performance pack tho, could be a bit more tamed than it is on the clubsport exhaust

anyone can offer some feedback as to comfort ride. I'm looking to buy one but I'm just worried it may be too stiff, even in comfort mode. I drove the Golf R and that's very comfortable, even in Sport mode. Thank you.
HI Comfort ride is very smooth , maybe a little floaty , i drive in Normal which is perfect , Sport is quite firm best out highways and B roads , my lady has a Merc A 200 and its ride is way too firm , stiffer than mine in Sport , it would be close to the R , i have a manual which is very nice .
@@golfmother3141 Thanks a lot for the advice. I took a chance and bought it. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. You're right, the confort ride is awesome. And apparently can get even better with certain Michelin tyres

I have one and its a very good car! Mine is white. Instagram is mk7gti.clubsport
10.5L / 100 km average really put me off. Just a rubbish engine. Had a car from 2006 with 6 cylinders 340 bhp N/A engine that had the same fuel consumption. Looks great though and the DCC suspension is fantastic.
love the leather bucket seats and steering wheel, i want them on my R! The clubsport with stage 1 has the same numbers as the R stage 1. 350hp/480nm! Although the fwd struggles with that!
G7R611 Hi i own the Clubsport 2017 model, also wit Leather Seats, DCC, Sunroof etcetera.. Did you tune your Golf R? im thinking do it perhaps later. "Stertman Motorsport" here in Sweden recomended me a Stage 1 tune of 355 hp /490 nm on the Clubsport. But if i do it, then i suppose its best to do a DSG tune also. Is it worth it? Have you done DSG and engine tune?
3DFX hi, I did a stage 1 tune. 350hp 480nm. No real tcu tune, but my tuner increaded clamp force, which is absolutely needed. You might want to reset the dsg to basic settings so it can adapt again. I had some issues with delayed clamping when i hit full throttle and i had a slight slippage. problem solved after resetting the dsg to basic settings. Stage 1 is safe for the dsg and its awesome! My tuner did say that 500nm really is the limit long term!

same thoughts! i just test drove one been wanting one for 2 years now! but it was so borring! much rather saving $12k (AUD) and get a standard my16 gti or for the same price as a golf R! great car but not exciting to drive

I've had one for the last 9 months. I will challenge anyone to find me a car with more fun at the same price range. Try the one with the stick shift, Max and I promise you, it's the Golf R that's going to feel like the PlayStation...

@@crismartinus I had it from the beginning, didnt know what it was and didnt mention it to my vw dealer. I am stupid i know, and now im out of warranty and now i can pay for it. I dont know if i will let them change it by VW or a well known tuner here, he suggested to put a "enforced" clutch from sachs....

But the inner part of the clubsport's diffuser is new
I noticed that the dsg shifts are so much faster than my gti's but i prefer my dsg farts because imo they sound beefier and don't blend in with the car's sound as much if you get what i mean

Xenshot I choosed this GTI Clubsport, and later Realized it was the Smartest buy Ever, becoz here it was over 11.000 Dollars Cheaper than the Golf R. Exactly the same price as the Standard GTI. - 100 % No Brainer here in Sweden!!!
Xenshot The GTI & R uses the same engine in a nutshell, the EA888 Generation 3b right now. Both are very Tunable. But off course if you buy R, you will get the most hardcore version. Meaning the components around the engine, is fit to a higher level sports car. Also the biggest differance is that Golf R uses 4 Wheel Drive (meaning better grip) whereas GTI is a FWD. But maby you knew already ;)
Slechte review
To sell me a new car VW would have to do the following:
- put a high reving 2.5-3.0 all aluminum high reving naturally aspirated VR6 with around 300hp in it
- offer it with a 6 speed manual, at least as an option
- no shitty artficially loud weird sounding exhaust, no 4 pipes for a car that only needs one
- a proper limited slip differential, not that crappy one via the ABS that my Corrado from 25 years ago already has
- a properly set up suspension, not that soft understeering shit they currently do
- no shitty 20 inch wheels that fuck up the ride (although I could always put in 17s later)
- the body has to be a sports coupe (Scirocco, Corrado style)
Until then, nope, I'm keeping the one I got.
