I like that because Toph joined the team so late, she never carried any baggage about Zuko. So she was just cool with hanging around him from the start.
Yeah, she never really saw the villain version of him, so she was probably the most open to his redemption and joining the team.

I love how zukos scream when ozai burned him showed up when toph touched his scar. It’s as if toph can literally see the pain and suffering it brought on zuko
SO happy somebody noticed that detail! I was really proud of that touch!

We were definitely robbed of a needed episode between these two.

all theres no worth spirtual jorny for toph and zucko this we dont have time that. It litterly could have been at least an emotionaly movening b plot to any of the later episods of mutiual bonding over so mutch

@@DiaomBayet toph once made a joke about going on a ground breaking journey with Zuko like pretty much the rest of the avatar gang had done at that point. That was a nod from the righters that they didn't have the time and an episode were the two get bonding time. something that was supposedly of no value to the two. This comic is proof that there was good ground to cover, they simply didn't leave room in the narrative.

I like that Toph can tell that this is a sore subject for Zuko and tries to navigate how to broach things. From her own perspective she hates being pitied over something she's long accepted about herself

Could you imagine what it would be like to feel the emotional pain behind someone's evidence of physical pain?!? This is a real tear-jerker! I could totally see this being in the show - I could even see Toph sharing something that Iroh would have told her - something about pain or loss - to empathize with Zuko.

We really need an official comic where the mission requires depth perception but only Zuko and Toph are there.

i love the relationship between these two, Toph doesn't have any bagged against him because sh joined the group later on. Alos while he is partially blind in his left eye but also did you know he's significantly deaf in his left ear too.
Whoever voiced toph sounds exactly like her!
If toph and zuko were to ever have a life changing field trip I'd think it'd go something like this;
So after leaving the western air temple and staying at a pit stop of sorts while in town toph hears the sound or voice of her mother but ignores it focusing on getting food for the team with sokka. While the rest are eating she pulls zuko aside and tells him her concerns and desire to see if her mother is actually hear. Zuko unsure if they should but toph guilt trips him for buring her feet. So they sneak off to search the town having zuko be her eyes. As they are searching zuko still apologizes for buring toph but toph says no big deal and claims to forgive hime. While talking the subject of how their family treated them is brought up with toph saying how smothering and overbearing her parents were that's it's the reason she left this touches a nerve with zuko since for his life his father was always cold and distant and he would've killed for that kind of love and even calls toph a ingrate for appreciating such love. Toph retaliates saying he never did the same to his uncle and he should've used that distance to explore and have fun like a certain sister of his did. They get into a fight and in the shadows is combustion man not hear for aang but revenge on zuko. After some angrily stomping around by she hears her mothers voice again and prepares to meet with her but hears a familiar physic explosion from combustion man and zuko screams. She caught in a rock and hard place and thinks why this is hard for her before she left her home without much of a thought why is she struggling to go help her friend that is more family than hers and without saying anything makes a decision. Zuko desperately figing for his life recalls how no matter what it felt he was always the black koala sheep of the family but thinks if he had gotten the love ozai gave to azula would he be were he is now. Not having time to ponder as anothe explosion comes his way. Caught from the debris of the blast helpless combustion man is ready to deal the finishing blow but toph comes in and saves zuko launching a boulder at him. Before combustion man gets another change toph slings a boulder spike undercutting him causing him to his blast to hit the top of a building before he attempts to hit the falling debris but it's to close and the blast pushes zuko and toph back. As the smoke clears nothing is left but burning rubble. As they return back to team avatar Zuko takes the blame saying he saw some tea he wanted. After being chewed out by Katara toph apologizes to zuko for what she said and so does zuko. Toph still seeming bummed on not being able to see her mom gets ready to leave but before she hears her name and is surprised by a sudden hug and tears of joy. As toph reciprocates this love zuko looks on recalling the same love he has received from his mother to Uncle Iroh ending the episode

Would've been cool if this inspired Toph and Zuko to develop a "heat-sense"/"heat-vision", or have Zuko talk about it. Basically, an bending ability I came up with that's similar to Toph's Seismic Sense, except it uses the surrounding heat (or lack there of) to form a "picture" of the world.
It not only would've added a cool detail, but also show another comparison between compatible elements.
In real life, certain snakes can do this to fid prey. And since dragons are kinda like snakes... it fits.
Knowing how bs earth bending actually is, wouldn't be surprised if toph actually saw THAT with zuko. Since memory is essentially the bedrock of what makes us who we are after all, wouldn't be surprised if the avatar crew used that sibce apparently air benders can Astral project themselves like in LoK.

honestly yeah... a burn scar like that? Your eye would practically boil with the heat. Surprised it didn't just pop. Surprised he even has working eye lids for it.
It would be interesting if she can "feel" how the scar was made. Perhaps she traces the sides and notices how it almost seems like it has the shape of a hand...

I love this! You know I think for their adventure they go to a volcano or somewhere Toph can lava bend kind of like Aangs and Zukos trip together.
I just really wished they gave us a bonding moment like this in the show, Toph really needed to get more screen time with Zuko especially since they eventually acted like they liked each other as close friends (at least). His scar is a very personal subject and I feel like offering for Toph to actually feel it was a really vulnerable offer on Zuko's part.
That was the field trip we all deserved now ima just say it happened like that❤

I don't think it works like that, he said his left eye was almost blind so I'm geussing he can still see just his left eye can't see anything clearly at all, or maybe everything is dark, even if he wore glasses that wouldn't work pretty sure since there's a difference between sight weakness and eye damage/blindness

This would've been far better in the show. Instead of Zuko blowing off Toph. When she was so excited for her own trip with Zuko.
I mean, the point there was that this really wasn't an appropriate time for Toph to do this. The others were able to have those life-changing field trips with Zuko because he was specifically focused on helping them, whereas with Toph he was focused on finding Aang. Toph completely missed the point and just kinda trauma dumped in his general direction while he was focused on the immediate problem, which was never going to end in any other way.
If we don't see a life changing trip between Toph and Zuko in the upcoming animated film I am going to be pissed >:(

Probably. I'm no expert, but it seems unlikely that the eye went completely undamaged, and it's stuck in that permanent squint that probably limits his ability to see out of it even the eye itself is fully functional.
