- Recorded live at the Viper Room on Sunset, this clip was featured as a "video enhanced track" on Chuck E. Weiss's album Old Souls and Wolf Tickets. Loading it gave just about everyone problems back in 2002, and it still isn't the most user-friendly thing in the world. So, even though the song itself isn't great by any means, I wanted to post it to UA-cam, as there seems to be no footage of Weiss actually performing. So here it is: Chuck E. Weiss Live!
My first sponser I shall forever be touched by Chucks spirit and his s sax player our very own Spider Middleman
Rest In Peace chuck E.
Monday nights will never be the same without Chuck E. Weiss. Not a great softball player he was a fine musician and really fun to go see play live. Good times. May he rest in peace with Buddy Holly and Fats Waller.
Chuck E Weiss and Goddamn Liars still playing a semi regular gig these days at funky little joint called The Piano Bar in Hollywood on Saturday nights once or twice a month. You can find info on Facebook. They still bring every show. Long live Chuck E!!
Always heard that Chuck E. was the subject of Rickie Lee Jones Chuck E's in Love.
It's true, Chuck and Tom Waits were best friends when Tom and Rickie were seeing each other. Chuck had indeed fallen in love with someone and Rickie kinda teased him about it like ahh Chucks in love. Then she wrote the song and drew more attention to Chuck than he ever wanted and for all the wrong reasons.Chuck and remained best friends till Chucks death. But it drove a huge wedge in their relationship, Tom went on tour and as far as anyone knows, never spoke again. Chuck was very angry and stopped speaking to or about her till the end R.I.P. Chuck E.!!
Love Chuckie E Weise

Gee ... wonder how Tony changed shirts in the middle of his guitar solo without missing a lick???? Rick Marriotts brought in a mobile recording truck the night of this video and the audio and video were both recorded.....I played drums...would love to see the rest of the set...super fun late Monday nites at the Central and later the Viper room....and of course the Canters hang until 4 or 5 after the show....

Chuck E Weiss was a talent that worked with so many and did so much great stuff. Never got the props he deserved.
Chuck E kicked ass and had the best bands. Period.

Denver's own Chuck E. Weiss. RIP sir!
Lookin' 4 "Bad Jews from Malibu" also. If anyone's got it, please share. I miss when "The Viper Room" was "TheCentral ". I loved Monnday nights at midnight!
The only certain thing in life was that every Monday night at 12pm I was at the Central to see the best music in the world, the incredible wonderful Chuck E Weiss with Spider on the sax and simply the best band My absolute fave was "oogly boogly woman with a big fat ass" I hated the night ending and that bloody air conditioning which never got fixed.... G-Damn Liars.
@@cliveturner7795 Us too! It was the best best best. We went for eleven years of Monday nights. SO sad to lose Chuck.
This kind of reminds me of open mics, Friday nights, outside NYC hopefully no-one has me. LOL Color cameras, forget video were too muvh
Yes!!!. I’d love to see some more live stuff from viper or central? The god damn liars in the house! Good times.
Who has Bad Jews in Malibu? Please please post
As was the bass player Will McGregor sadly missed RIP alert us too darkly x
Thanks for the post. Glad to know I ain't alone out here. Like you said, I'm part of the uwashed masses who couldn't get this sucker to read off the cd, so you've made me a very happy puppy.
"Old Souls" is one of those recordings that makes you wonder about the state of the music business. If you need any further clinical proof that Ryan Seacrest is the anti-Christ, then I guess the fact that "Old Souls" ain't even represented here on youtube provides prima facie evidence. Cool rules, baby!!
Thanks for that - I couldn't get it to play all those years ago and it never occurred to me to look for it here! Looks like it was a fun night anyway.
RIP dear sir
always good to see you jamming Chuck E. Now, I want to see "Bad Jews from Malibu" put up on you tube! :D
Holy Shit!!!! CHUCK E.!!!! Brother you really need to take this shit on the road!!!

Solid Man !
Butt rockin' fun
Cool
Looks like "HebrUUew" School paid off and did you well.
Old friend from the 1980s. Denise
I met Chuckles in Denver in the 70s when I was a college rock and roll writer. Then here in LA. We always said that we would collaborate on his book, "Whatever Happened to Stick McGhee?" -- I have to say, RIP, Chuck-- but part of me is riled by vocal blackface like this. I know that it was done out of love, but not sure it should ever be done, periodt-- Ry Cooder, Leon Redbone, et al, appropriatin' minstrel-style
Still looking for Bad Jews in Malibu
not bad.
Who is this guy I just found him and love his music but have no idea who he is
Come on Jimmy Wood. Somebody put up Bad Jews in Malibu
