Your chopsticks skill is spot on! I should do that when teaching my wife. Thanks again for this video. I got impatient and learned the game last week by watching other videos and played 3 games already but im still watching this as a refresher. What a beast of a game!
The tutorials you do for On Mars are amazing. I have tried to learn this game from just the rules and after spilling my brain all over the board and table I did a search and found you! Thank God! I think the thing to remember is accidentally breaking a rule is fine so long as you are trying to do your best to work with the set rule system, and you enabled this for me. By the way, I am always forgetting to move my crystals too :) Thanks loads and Take care James
This is the best tutorial I have seen for this game...maybe any game and believe me I have seen some excellent tutorials out there. Everything from splitting it up in separate videos to the clear explanations and then having examples of actions taken was all very helpful. I just got On Mars and with your help we had a great game. This sort of quality content takes time to make so thank you so much for your hard work.
I’ve owned On Mars since the Kickstarter back in 2019, and had never played it…. until yesterday. Thanks to your videos, the way you explain and how the playthrough flows along with the tutorial I was able to go, set up the game, and have my first play. It took a while to get the hang of it, every game does at the first play, but it was easier thanks to your videos and after a few rounds my worries did not lie on whether or not I was doing it right (I was doing it right, btw), but on the decisions I had to make and the impact they were going to have in the long run. Thank you very much for helping me and others to understand better this game. Liked and subscribed for life 🤩.
Thanks so much Rodolfo and welcome to the channel! I'm so glad to hear it and you described my learning journey of this one perfectly. I started by focusing on rules, but then quickly morphed into decision analysis. For me, this was more like analysis paralysis :)
This is amazing. I was waiting for over a week for this video to be uploaded. After seeing the setup video.... I really watched tons of tutorial and playtroughs... But none of 'em made me really understand hów it really worked properly. As I stated in your last video, thanks to your chillness in explanation and the wonderful editing I now know just that bit more to really get started! Thanks again. Maybe the next video is a tutorial or play trough of the solo play?👊
Wonderful! So glad this one could help. I am always a bit overwhelmed doing how-to-play videos on games with steeper learning curves and hoping that it all makes sense. Appreciate your feedback!
Hi jacky! Thanks so much! Yes, building a shelter is the same as building any other building but you consider shelters from different players as different building types. So for instance, you could only build a complex of shelters of your player color.
Hey, Amazing Tutorial but... I am confused at 31:47 when you explain a shelter being upgraded you say if there were colonists on the tile upgraded place them back in their owner's living quarters ... why would ever be a colonist on a tile, except for a rover and bot, I was not aware colonist can be placed on main map tiles??? thanks
28:19 Heya, Just wanna give my opinion and feedback, Regarding the "Landing Pod action", I think is better to tell it explicitly that the penalities/setback for choosing this action instead of normally "Travel to Colony" during the Shuttle Phase are :- 1. Skipping the "Exploration Space" (which is you have said in this video 2. You kinda forced to skip your turn (by putting the Player Marker down), right after calling all your colonist from all Action/Worker Spaces to the "Living Quarters", instead of starting to work as normal. By explaining no.2, in my opinion will make your tutorial/how to play video more informative and streamline. Kinda mitigate the needs for audience (like me...felt guilty now...for not reading the Rulebook first) to suddenly becomes confused on why Alex need to put his Player marker down? Doesn't he supposed to place his Colonist? Then it becomes clear when I double check it in the rulebook for "Landing Pod action", then able to identify the full rules and interpret it as being a penalties/setback (putting player marker down and end the turn abruptly). Regardless of this, you're an awesome guide for people to learn to play boardgame! So far your explanation and carefully showing how phases run are on points and really easy grasp the vibe of the game even without me experiencing playing it for the first time! Keep it up!! All the best to you! 😄💪
This is by far the best "How To" channel for games, thank you so much and love your videos!:)
Best On Mars YT explanation so far. And your sympathy is a nice addition. Top work☺
Love your comment! thanks so much :)
Agree! ;-)

Ha! I used the chopstick as a pointer and then decided to have some fun with them. Thanks so much!

Hands down the best On Mars tutorial on UA-cam. Good job uncomplicating things. Going to check out the Root tutorial next.
NIce job! This is a superb way of making a very complex game easier to understand. Keep up the strong work.
Thanks so much Brian!

Well Done!
27:05 so I guess, Harper (Yellow player) does not want to travel to the Orbital station right? Decided to stay on Colony.
Lovely explanation of a game I have found tricky to learn, one thing is the build a shelter a similar to build a building action? Again thank you.

You are welcome! Thanks so much!
Great video!
I think you missed a time stamp at 28:19 Landing Pod Action.
Thanks for that! I added the time stamp!

colonists go on mines that are built
rly nice playthrough, but, how do you increase your storage capacity?
Does the player resource capacity ever increase? How ?

Space. The realm of zero theme. A total bore. Generic Fantasy will always win over this uninspired, non-art hex trash.
Haters got to hate :)
