on a unlimited peace of road that is perfectly legal, if traffic and weather allow it. On a part with a speed limit, you will lose your license for 3 month and have to pay a fine if it was your first time, if not you may get some bigger problems.

The fact that he wasn't arrested for reckless driving probably means he did it on some deserted stretch of road out in the middle of the nowhere. In Europe, you don't have long, straight, deserted roads like this so you have to be stricter in enforcing speeding laws. Even where I live in the southeast US there are plenty of roads with no posted speed limit if you get far enough away from civilization. Then it's a "drive reasonably and don't cause a wreck if you happen to meet a car situation."
T. Mitchell we dont have any long deserted roads in europe? Youve never been anywhere north of germany then. North sweden, you can go through endless forest for 500km without any real speed limit, no cameras, no cops, nice scenery and you would only meet a handful of cars. Some straights can be over 5km long
There's no way you'd hit 210 safely with any cars around, it would have had to be on a long straight-away with zero traffic. It's extremely dangerous, though. Even at 110, if you get a tire blow-out, you could be in big trouble, real quick. People drop all kinds of crap on the road from the back of their vehicles. Nails, screws, unsecured junk that falls out of the bed of a pickup truck, or you might run into an animal. Those problems don't exist on a race track.

To be accurate (after reading alot of inaccuracies about CA speeding laws), doing over 100mph (including 210) gets you a minimum $1,000 fine (more commonly you get the maximum of $2,000), a 30 day license suspension, and 2 points on your driving record, which cannot be negated by attending traffic school. It would also send your insurance through the roof.
I kinda feel the need to point out that all Jezza said was the maximum FINE. Some of you are getting that confused with the maximum penalty. And on top of that, if you can afford a Veyron you can afford a good lawyer... Or you are a lawyer...
For those who don't know the fastest speeding ticket ever recorded was in may of 2003 a driver in Texas was in a koenigsegg ccr and was recorded going 242 mph in a 75 mph zone
“So sir, the speeding ticket you will be getting is -sighs- $500. Yes, $500 for going 210 in a 65. Just.. don’t do it again alright? What’s the fine for doing it again?... $750.”
I am guessing the guy who had the Veyron was probably thinking, 'Well if I have a Veyron, I might as well drive it to it's limit.' Because if you think about it, if he wanted to just go 65MPH, he might as well have just gotten a Toyota Prius.
Not true in California actually. Over 100mph on a 65mph highway can technically land you in jail. It all depends on what mood the cop is in. If he charges you for a misdemeanor then jail time and impounded car are likely. Otherwise, infraction for 100+ carries a 30 day suspension and 2 points with the DMV without possible traffic school. Whether or not the court decides to follow through with everything is always in the air.. The truth really is that most cops don't know the rules and chose to do things the way they're used to / want to, based on the circumstance. I'm sure if you ask different cops this same question, you will receive different answers. Be safe!
Nihsel101 here in ireland if its a camera. you get an 80 euro fine by post. if you fail to pay within 28 days it goes up to 120 euro. fail to pay after 28 days again you get a court summons
I'm from California and I know if you really did get busted going that fast you will go to jail with a possible felony known as expedition of speed. Lose your license for a year (at minimum) Ive noticed in California we have more harsh rules compared to other states in our country.
You have to understand how police set up traps and where they can sit. This is why canyon/scenic roads rock. But if you live in a peaceful, flat area like me with police so plentiful that a patrol car per mile is normal, the best thing to do is learn the exact roads and areas they camp and simply avoid them. Staying off of main highways and away from military bases helps too.
+EmofacePS3 That's not true. CHP stated that they issue a citation after catching you via radar or with a cruiser pacing you , the county then determines how much the fine is and if there are any other penalties in place such as a license suspension or jail time, depending on if you're a repeat offender or not.
Could've been clocked on radar at that speed and then began slowing down once he knew he'd been pulled over, so as to not evade and get a higher penalty. Otherwise yeah, a Crown Vic topping out at 120 MPH isn't going to make it.
the personal freedom in America is so unbelievable... without a doubt one of the reasons I love this country so much... of course I am hoping that people understand that the 500 dollar fine (and car being impounded) takes into account that no one was injured in any way... if the car crashes or is deemed to cause an accident... then everything changes drastically
you'll also notice this isnt a speed camera ticket, its probably a lidar or older radar hand held speed device by the hand written ticket. those are accurate and usable upto rediculous speeds. The newer LIDARs we have in use in Oz can pick you up from nearly 2km away AND store an image of the car in question on it.
TactiCali Industries you have never been here, have you? it's not one road it's about 1000miles of "free limit" autobahn^^ not so boring at all and most of out streets have higher speed limits, maybe because we actually get a real education nd training on how to drive..
Most americans think that the autobahn is just one road, never understood why. And what bandit darville says is wrong, the fine he mentioned is for doing 70 Km/h over the limit.
actually if you reach anything over 100mph you get your car impounded and jail time, also suspended license for a year and traffic school. you pay for traffic school which is expensive, and it will go on your record.
In Romania people go 150+ mph on highways cause the biggest fine we have is 200$... Once the police caught me doing 55 mph in the city, speed limit was 30, I was laughing because a 150$ fine is nothing compared to having the license suspended 2 months... maximum penalty around here.
It doesn't matter if you are doing 60 or 250 mph, license suspended 3 months, that's all. If you pass a legislation test, it gets the penalty down to one month.
I don't see why people on the comment sections are saying stuff like how unfair the british government is and how cool the California is. I mean come on,when you drive that fast on a track your rented its okay, but when your driving on a motorway you also endanger other people's lives and so you need very strict rules.
There are many toll roads in California. There is never any traffic on those toll roads. So you could get away with it if there isn't a CHP officer on that road
In my country in Mozambique there’s 2 outcomes to this. 1. The police will either think their speed camera is malfunctioning 2. They’ll clap and literally smile with respect for you.😂
its actually different in some states. In Minnesota, you have to break 100 mph on the highway to lose your license, but even then they can be lenient. In residential if you go 15 over its just a double fine and maybe a reckless driving class.
In Canada they have speed racing laws. If you get pulled over doing 50km/hr over the limit they take your Car for 7 days and impound it. You also get a large fine and good luck getting normal insurance next time around.
Judge: you'll have to pay 500$.

Actually if you search up the case, the driver got no jail time.
Bad ass? He literally just pressed his foot down in a straight line
''I think we should go cause THAT is civilised behaviour!'' I cracked! :D
1:00 one of the reason you're working for a USA company now (Amazon) :) The Grand Trio!
In Soviet Netherlands, they will fine you over 9000 euros, they will take your car, your driver's license, your firstborn, and a kidney.
“So sir, the speeding ticket you will be getting is -sighs- $500. Yes, $500 for going 210 in a 65. Just.. don’t do it again alright? What’s the fine for doing it again?... $750.”
"I think we should go I really do"
*The Grand Tour intensifies*
Buggati two door I'm guessing it's a veyron xD
Avatar Gamer what if it was the EB? XD
@Caolan McGlinchey That didn't exist back then.
@@jonavanderpal You sure
@@jonavanderpal Are you really sure?
When you're rich, it's not a fine, it's just how much it costs to do it. We need fines to be adapted to one's earnings, otherwise they're useless.
James May: "This is the worst country in the world for making a car program"
2030 has entered the chat
I guess Koenigsegg CCR still has the record for speeding tickets at 242 MPH
And NOW they're going to another country to make a new car show
well ... technically, their new head quarter is in London, so they stay in the country.
He paid for the whole speedo, He's using the whole speedo :D
Best part is that isn't even close to the whole speedo
Looks like i'm moving to California
I am guessing the guy who had the Veyron was probably thinking, 'Well if I have a Veyron, I might as well drive it to it's limit.'
Because if you think about it, if he wanted to just go 65MPH, he might as well have just gotten a Toyota Prius.
The maximum fine you can get is for 20mph over, so anything over that is only going to cost for 20 over.
Be safe!
In FL, 30 over equals mandatory Court and Jail time. Thats why i stay below 30 and deal with 263 buck ticket and 4 pts
g35Gevo he the guy can afford a Veyron he can easily afford a lawyer to get him out in 5 min of jail time.
Nihsel101 here in ireland if its a camera. you get an 80 euro fine by post. if you fail to pay within 28 days it goes up to 120 euro. fail to pay after 28 days again you get a court summons
Recorded speed: 210 mph.
* EVERYONE LIKED THAT *
Still awesome 10 years later 🤣
Nothing but respect to the lads driving the Bugatti at this speed it’s what the car was built for
I'm from California and I know if you really did get busted going that fast you will go to jail with a possible felony known as expedition of speed. Lose your license for a year (at minimum) Ive noticed in California we have more harsh rules compared to other states in our country.
The only time Americans were ever called civilised on British tele
You have to understand how police set up traps and where they can sit. This is why canyon/scenic roads rock. But if you live in a peaceful, flat area like me with police so plentiful that a patrol car per mile is normal, the best thing to do is learn the exact roads and areas they camp and simply avoid them. Staying off of main highways and away from military bases helps too.
Sweet Jesus, that really really fast.
what they dont mention is that in california if your caught going over 100mph its a mandatory arrest
They didn't mention that you get your car crushed either
Greg Dragoo That's just absurd.
+EmofacePS3 That's not true. CHP stated that they issue a citation after catching you via radar or with a cruiser pacing you , the county then determines how much the fine is and if there are any other penalties in place such as a license suspension or jail time, depending on if you're a repeat offender or not.
Not true. My buddy got written up for 102 and didn't get arrested, just payed a huge fine
Car insurance is required for driving in USA? In my book, when you drive 1500 dollar Toyota there is no point in it.
"do you know why I stopped you?"
"Because you wouldn't be able to catch up"
Do that in Mexico and there's no prob, no speed cameras here. Got caught anyway? give 50 pesos to the cop.
Olvidas los baches que tienen las carreteras aquí. :v
awesome
Unless it's a fake cop and they cut off your head.
"Do you know why I pulled you over today, sir?"
"Because I let you, officer."
How did the cops get this guy?
Noncontact apprehension? Like he was actually caught by a traffic camera and they just mailed him his ticket.
+D681ZVJ we don't have speed cameras in America
Could've been clocked on radar at that speed and then began slowing down once he knew he'd been pulled over, so as to not evade and get a higher penalty. Otherwise yeah, a Crown Vic topping out at 120 MPH isn't going to make it.
Had to stop for fuel.
No, how did a camera even catch the car. They usually stop working at like 250, 260 km/h.
And to quote Wes Harrison, "At that speed you can't see the road, in fact, you don't even know you're on a road!"
in canada 50 over is considered street racing and they take your car
Dustin Daye but do the cops deliver it back in the drive way as a little cube?
sounds aboot right, eh?
Dustin Daye Our cars in Canada have engine limits. My car wouldn't pass 199kph despite the European version being able to easily do 260kph.
Dustin Daye 😂😂😂
Is that in km or miles?
the personal freedom in America is so unbelievable... without a doubt one of the reasons I love this country so much... of course I am hoping that people understand that the 500 dollar fine (and car being impounded) takes into account that no one was injured in any way... if the car crashes or is deemed to cause an accident... then everything changes drastically
And i thought i was cool doing 43 on a 40 in my toyota yaris
you'll also notice this isnt a speed camera ticket, its probably a lidar or older radar hand held speed device by the hand written ticket. those are accurate and usable upto rediculous speeds. The newer LIDARs we have in use in Oz can pick you up from nearly 2km away AND store an image of the car in question on it.
Come to Germany. ;)
If you do 26kph over the limit in Germany, you'll lose your licence. And pay €600,-.
Bandit Darville exept we have roads without limits^^
Noonesgoing to go all the way to Germany to drive on one boring road so that they can drive fast. I prefer the PCH in California over the Autobahn.
And what bandit darville says is wrong, the fine he mentioned is for doing 70 Km/h over the limit.
they didn't mention what would happen on the third time you get the offense. You would get the automatic felony and do 6 months and 5 years probation.
Even an Koenigsegg CCX have the top speed 210+ what do you think the Koenigsegg One:1 will make? :)
more than likely something above 280 :p
There was a CCS that was caught in TX for doing 242 mph. Koenigsegg already left their mark. :)
I can just imagine the officer saying “I had to go 300 mph just to catch up to you sir”
If the guy went 210 on a veyron... what was the cop driving??
a helicopter with a radio in it
Crown Vic obviously.
Nihsel101 What with an 8 liter Viper V10 under the hood, and a Nitrous
cylinder in the trunk.
Gary Dunn Or he could be driving a corvette ZR1 with NOs system and upgraded supercharger. ;)
joetosan crown vic
I pretty sure anyone with a bugatti veyron would have $500 just under the seat accidentally
EB-110?
AMGman that would be even better XD
No, you can never get those things to run. lol.
@@canehdiansteve3455 that just isnt true, they have no issues with their bespoke masterpiece of an engine.
"My new car does 250mph"
"So what, you'll never do that on the road"
"Ok. Let's see."
MURICA
Driver: thank you for verifying my speed
actually if you reach anything over 100mph you get your car impounded and jail time, also suspended license for a year and traffic school. you pay for traffic school which is expensive, and it will go on your record.
That Crown Vic must be hella quick to catch up
Yes, Jeremy you are welcome to move Top Gear to the states, we have Top Gear America and it sucks, sucks more than a Mexican supercar ha
The_vb well, your dream came true
The_vb your wish is my command
And it actually happened lol.
I love how everyone is cheering for the bloke who got the ticket! Like he’s some kind of hero! 😂😂
THAT IT I'M GETTING OUT OF AUSTRALIA TO GO THE USA
go to the northern territory. Some parts have no speed limits again. I heard about a bloke doing about 250kph, legally
haydes02 was he in a falcon with over 600kw?
"So goodbye, we're off!" hahahaha xD
I don't see why people on the comment sections are saying stuff like how unfair the british government is and how cool the California is.
I mean come on,when you drive that fast on a track your rented its okay, but when your driving on a motorway you also endanger other people's lives and so you need very strict rules.
There are many toll roads in California. There is never any traffic on those toll roads. So you could get away with it if there isn't a CHP officer on that road
Lots of desert in California so lots of empty long roads
Imagine the Veyron owner’s smile if he saw this clip.
In my country in Mozambique there’s 2 outcomes to this.
1. The police will either think their speed camera is malfunctioning
2. They’ll clap and literally smile with respect for you.😂
Time to go to mozambique
its actually different in some states. In Minnesota, you have to break 100 mph on the highway to lose your license, but even then they can be lenient. In residential if you go 15 over its just a double fine and maybe a reckless driving class.
Doing that in Florida is an automatic court date and possibly impounded when they make the charge Reckless Driving or possibly Street Racing.
Miss you’re show guys .
Officer: Do you know why I pulled you over?
Bugatti Owner: lmao yeah I let you
Cop: "sir do you know why I pulled you over today?"
Fast car guy: "because I let you."
OOHHH 0:58 damn .... the foreshadowing
In Canada they have speed racing laws. If you get pulled over doing 50km/hr over the limit they take your Car for 7 days and impound it. You also get a large fine and good luck getting normal insurance next time around.
The owner be like: "totally worth it"
This was the start of the grand tour
James's brain at 0:46 ,''James May .exe stopped working''
He can afford a Veyron, it probably cost more in fuel that day than the fine cost him 😂
