      The worst part of this video imo is the "whoever designed this boat was a genius for not putting so many lifeboats on" since the guy who designed the ship, Alexander Carlisle, and the guy who was lead architect, Thomas Andrews, both wanted more lifeboats. 48 lifeboats, and 46 lifeboats respectively.

    Fun fact: the Titanic originally was requested to have much more lifeboats than what was actually implemented, but because lifeboats were considered an absolute last resort option (due to a bunch of other ships suffering from capsized life boats, it was never a guaranteed survival option) and new technology (such as the Silent room, I think it's called, and also built in watertight compartments) they were limited. A new patent crane was even designed for the Titanic specifically to hover lifeboats over the edge of the ship, as the builders had a reputation they wanted to keep and basically pulled out all the goodies for the Titanic.
    The lifeboats were somewhat meant to mainly be a means of transport to get passengers from one ship to another in case of a rescue, so they were to be reused from trips back and forth.

    There were actually more lifeboats than regulations required in those days. Back then lifeboats were meant to ferry people to another ship, not hold all passengers indefinitely. Not many people know that the captain waited two hours before sending out an SOS because at first the pumps were holding back the water and he thought they’d be able to get to port.

      Bro, what? None of that is true. First of all, Captain Smith was asleep in bed when Titanic hit the iceberg. Secondly, there was no moon that night, therefore, there was no moonlight to reflect off the or any icebergs, the two men in the crow’s nest didnt have any binoculars (not that that wouldve helped much) and 9 minutes before the collision, the lookouts noticed a haze on the horizon. Experts believe that it was a mirage caused by cold water meeting warm air, which would have further hidden the iceberg. It wasnt anybody’s fault. It was a freak accident and nothing more. You’re just full of shit lol

    They did have collapsible life boats to save room on those ships and the titanic had 3 but people were skeptical of how effective they are so they didn't just buy enough even though they could've saved everyone with more spare room

    • @whatTFisThis
      @whatTFisThis 7 місяців тому +3

      they also didnt work really well and the crew did not do the lifeboat drill nor have one in place
      i forgot the details but on one of the sister ships the crew actually quit because they found those lifeboats to be shit
      alot of passengers did not think the titanic was sinking btw so many people did not board the lifeboats at first and as you mentioned many had extra room

    • @1993digifan
      @1993digifan 2 місяці тому

      Titanic had FOUR collapsibles and more boats would NOT have made a major impact since they would've needed MORE TIME than they had. You do know that the last two boats basically floated away either swamped with water or capsized. And with an ever decreasing number of able bodied seamen how well do you think the launching of the boats would've gone.
      @whatTFisThis Actually the crew DID have a drill in Southampton in the early morning of the departure date, the problem was that they only made sure that it could be launched, float, and move in the water, but they only had a few people in the boat who were mainly there to do the rowing. They could've added sandbags to represent the weight of a full complement but for some reason they didn't consider it.

    Fun fact: it's not the size of the iceberg that counts. It's where the berg hits. If the titanic fully smashed face-first into the iceberg, it would have been fine. It scraped the ice berg instead, and the dirt-cheap rivets on over half of the safety tanks blew out. It actually could have handled a large portion of that damage. It just breached one too many tanks.
