I think the most deadly and recent ship accident was with the ferry Sowol, in South Korea. Hundreds of people and students died because the rescue teams had no orders to engage and save the people (ironically they observed as the ship sank and did save the captain of the ferry). By what i recall, it has to do with how korean society works. The passengers awaited patiently inside the ferry until the captain give order to abandon ship (instead he was one of the first to bail, sltough i think was by the company's order). The same reason the rescuers awaited on the area. Their orders were just to aproach the accident and transmit the information trough live feed and comunications. They tried to contact the president, but she was busy sleeping and banging at the time of the accident.

Question: What If the Titanic Sank Today? Telling the 1912 story: 60% of video Telling Concordia story: 31% of video Actually answering the question: 9%
HeX rAnDoMnEsS, the question is, “What if the titanic sank today?” But the REAL question is, how can it sink the titanic if the global warming has melted the ice burg in which it will cause the titanic to sink?
Ships still sink today. And at the time, the captain himself even said he thought shipping had gone way beyond the risk of sinking. I don’t think ship building will ever go beyond the risk of sinking.
Of course it will never go beyond the risk of sinking. Even the most advanced futuristic technology we will ever bring into the universe can’t make ships unsinkable.
Captain Smith of the Titanic was last seen leaving the bridge as it starting taking in water. Contrast that to Cpt Schettano of the Costa Concordia who was one of the first people into a life boat.
The Concordia happened nearly 100 years after Titanic (Jan 201). If Concordia had sank in deeper waters, it would have the 21st-century version of the Titanic disaster
If the Titanic sank today , then it would again asked help from Californian, but the radio man was sleeping , so he would wake up and see 7 missed calls from Captain Smith.😂😂
People would still panic. I mean people were panicking on the Concordia as it sank, and that was a longer ordeal. The biggest difference is that everyone on the Titanic knew there weren't enough lifeboats but on the Concordia, everyone knew there were enough, as required by law, plus lifeboats these days are safer and can be launched faster.

There was no moon, so no light to reflect off the ice, and the binoculars would not have been able to detect it any sooner. The binoculars would have simply been for IDENTIFYING an object, for example if there’s another ship off in the distance, the binoculars would help identify it. The lookouts job was to notify the bridge of ANY object in the ship’s path. Not to sit and try to figure out what it was. They were 62 seconds away when they were able to see it.
A number of safety precautions, including the compulsory presence of radio operators at all times, and having enough lifeboats for all passengers were introduced after the Titanic's sinking. If the Titanic hadn't sunk in 1912, a number of these precautions would probably not have been introduced. Assuming that no other major disaster happened in the intervening 108 years, and no one introduced these precautions, a Titanic-like scenario today would be more costly than the Costa Concordia disaster, with a few hundred lives being lost at the most. Costa Concordia was an unfortunate disaster, but there were a number of factors that helped the passengers (warm Mediterranean waters, proximity to land) that are really not available in the North Atlantic.
Speaking as a USCG Veteran, while all the technology you mentioned is available, there are still folks standing lookout in the cold. Its standard for seagoing vessels to maintain at least one lookout regardless of weather conditions or time of day because there are some things radar still cant see.
As a former Navy guy. We patrol the "Titanic" zone as much as you guys do. We do air drills every once and while, and an F/A-18's radar is about twice as sensitive as naval vessels. They usually pick up things we miss even visually. The air patrols would have seen Titanic wandering into the ice zone on a night patrol and all a pilot commander would have to do is call it into their command deck.
I live in Newfoundland. The wreck of titanic is so far off the coast it would take the coast guard way too long to get there. Tons of people would still die in those freezing waters but maybe not as many
I feel like this is a little on the misleading side. Yes, the risk of a disaster happening along the same route the Titanic took in 1912 has greatly diminished in modern times. But major sea disasters are definitely still a thing. Estonia, Bukoba, Princess of the Stars, Eastern Star, Sewol Ferry, etc.
Ship employee: "The ship has struck an iceburg... first class passengers, please stop what your doing this instant and go to main deck for further instructions." Privileged partying millennial: "I ain't leaving the club, haven't finished my drink. Anyway, if I can survive Fyre Festival, I can survive THIS."
5:53 The captain of the Californian got fired because his only concerns were about the colour of the flares being fired from the unknown ship near them (The Titanic) all what he wanted to know is that ship belongs to what company ..... and the second officer literally told him the ship looks strange in water as if it was listing (Sinking) , Captain Lord instructed the crew to continue to signal the other vessel with the Morse lamp , and went back to sleep , He did not even bother to wake up his radio operator and ask him to check on that sinking ship . Titanic’s fourth officer, Joseph Boxall, said he fired a total of eight white flares , those are used in White star liners back then as distress signals , after the disaster it was recommended that red flares should be used as the international signal of distress.
2:39 Sis, That's wrong, Captain Smith was asleep when one of his crew members was incharge, They decided to show off by going faster so they could reach there destination in time, When he woke up he went mad, And THATS The reason he went down with the ship.
No officer just unilaterally decided to go faster when the Captain was not on the bridge. They didn’t press a button or a pedal. Men had to shovel coal into furnaces to make steam and that isn’t done instantly. The Captain made that call earlier.

Miles Kluckow OK BOOMER
LMHO!
I can’t imagine people going on snapchat saying “omg guys you’ll never guess what haha”
“women and children first” wouldn’t be a problem, everyone’s trans. 😎

Humbling moment?

Me : I’ll vouch for him
“ are you a woman or a child “

@Rolf Jander how could I video a ship going down in the middle of the Atlantic..
Yep. What he actually did was much worse
That's long 😱🌉🚅🌍🗺

Sis, That's wrong, Captain Smith was asleep when one of his crew members was incharge, They decided to show off by going faster so they could reach there destination in time, When he woke up he went mad, And THATS The reason he went down with the ship.
No officer just unilaterally decided to go faster when the Captain was not on the bridge. They didn’t press a button or a pedal. Men had to shovel coal into furnaces to make steam and that isn’t done instantly. The Captain made that call earlier.
If Titanic sank today maybe DiCaprio would get a second Oscar
“Hey guys our ship is sinking let’s just take a video and post it in tiktok and not enter a lifeboat because we care about being tiktok famous more than our lives”
