Can you explain the complex gear box when it will never be used...? Will there ever be the option of a RC conversion....well there won't, so what's the point of a complex gear box...? 🤔 🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@moonlight5050 I talked about this in my Ferrari Daytona SP3 review already, I think the gearbox is not necessary. But apparently people want to have a complex gearbox in a 1:8 scale supercar because "it has to be there for this price", even if they only build it once and never use it.
@RacingBrick thank you very much for your reply.....you are my goto Lego channel so I appreciate your comment 👍👍👍 It's a pity it will never be used 😕
hello
Is the gearbox thingy oriented correctly on the instructions? I remember the Daytona wasn’t correct and had to use what you said
I have mixed feelings about this set. I absolutely love the complex gearbox, as it is a refreshing new gearbox compared to the same gearbox we saw in the Lambo and Ferrari over the past 4 years. In the photos, the headlights looked weird, the angles seemed off, but in person seeing it in this video, the angles look really well and while the headlights still look weird, they look better in person because of the shapes I didn’t notice before. Thanks for another great review as always!
I had the same feeling about the front. It looks way better on the actual built model than on the box/manual. Before this video the set was an easy pass for me, also because I own Bruno Jensons version.
Im not sure about so much depending on rubbers in mechanism. LEGO making really high quality, long lasting rubber bands, but how many years it take until rubbers start degenerate? In this model, intended to be stored for years on shelf it is little controversial turn...
same feeling for the headlights, but if you look at them further away you can really see that headlight characteristic from the p1
@@emmetbrickhacker5029 you can replace those with regular rubber bands or order original ones from the official store.
i noticed that too at the end of the video, the official product shots somehow manage to make it look really bad
I know some people complain that it isn’t a new McLaren or the F1 but I personally love that they made the P1. It’s where most of the modern design language of McLaren came from with the curves and design. It’s also a part of the holy trinity of hybrid supercars that many people still reminisce about today. Maybe in the future they’ll make a 918 and a LaFerrari so that we can have the full trinity in LEGO.
I agree. Nothing wrong with retro models.
Exactly!! The P1 was McLaren's return. I'm so excieded to see it!
Fair point, but still the F1 is arguably the greatest supercar ever made, and Lego has the McLaren license and chose the P1 instead? Also this led to a second orange 1:8 supercar, when they could have made the F1 in silver (road) or black (race) trim to give a new color to their 1:8 collection. Lastly, more than one highly detailed P1 kits already exist from third party manufacturers, such as the equally detailed 1:10 CaDA "Assassin XR", but AFAIK no detailed brick built model of the F1 exists.
Maybe Lego couldn't get the BMW license for the engine in the F1 or something, but I'm still kind of disappointed they chose the P1 over the F1. IMO the two greatest modern supercars are the McLaren F1 and the Porsche Carrera GT, and sadly neither has a Lego (or third party for that matter) version.
@@tren133 How do you know LEGO chose to do the P1 over the F1? It is possible Mclaren wanted to make the P1. Just as it is pretty clearly Lamborghini wanted them to make the Sian for marketing.
@@danielthompson6010 i dont think the sian was for marketing because most of the people who got the set cant afford a real sian and they were already sold out before the set released
@6:00 "How many colors do you want to put in?"
LEGO: "Yes"
Easier to see the mechanics
Looks like something I build from the million parts at home as an 8 Year old.
@@feuervogerl8093 since when is “yes” a number?
@@idonjohnson6999Are you serious?
@@Max-hy9udApart from that, Lego has switchable 12 and 24 tooth gears [straight ] + a proper claw gear with drum control since the Yamaha. For everyone who doesn't feel like switching the next endless 16 and 20 tooth gearbox...via the little red pin. Old-timers can mod their Arroc and Unimog. Lego owns the design protection.
She's a beast. Long live this 1:8 ultimate car series. Keep 'em coming.
The looks are take or leave but I really really love the inner mechanisms of this.
i love all the curvatures from the side profile and although I was a bit sceptical about how the roofline looked on promotional photos, now I can see that it looks amazing. Honestly this is the first 1:8 scale lego supercar that I might be interested in buying. Of course if I had the money.
I bought the lego blue bugatti when it came out, honestly is an amazing set where you got great packaging and a podcast to listen to as well. You mentioned the cost, thats my problem with the new set. 100 dollars more than the bugatti's price. Yeah i get that inflation is a real thing, but 100 dollars more for a set of the same size only 6 years later? It just feels like lego is overcharging because they can
@@JJ_5289
just wait for a couple months, I'm already seeing prices of 360-370. I bought the ferrari and lamborghini about 6 months after release, both for under 300
the real retail price will show itself soon
People trashing on some areas but LEGO sets are subject to intense scrutiny around sturdiness of connections, ease of build. Cant build it like you would a moc. I think the set looks fantastic all round and cant wait to own it
I love the set but there nothing wrong with having an opinion. Despite the front end this will be the second set of this type that I want.
@@labountiyou are the problem
@@nixic7127how? People giving opinions will help the company doing better eventually.
If people like you just swallow everything they serve you will get awful products.
Imagine if we don’t complain about the tire size from the F1 cars, we will always get the same size tires while that’s pretty bollocks.
I love the mechanism of the door, seems more solid compared to Daytona
I’ll wait for the next video and your opinion of this car
The Daytona needs some blue pills to keep the doors and the trunk lifted
Damn …. I absolutely love the look of the P1. Lego did an excellent job. This will be my birthday present to myself… Thanks for a great review build.
Same, happy birthday!
OMG this gearbox is a work of art!
Yeah like a Picasso with all the rainbow colors.
Can't wait, a great Bday Present to myself, and I'll actually be building on my birthday on the 4th!
Im buying it for my birthday in mid august as well!
I will also buy it for myself on my bday August 24
Szia Balázs!
Köszi szépen, hogy már a feltöltésnél beállítottad a feliratot!
Várom a második részt a végső ítéleteddel!
További szép napot és hétvégét!
Üdv, Unoka!
Love this set, took it to another level for sure. The fact that you can pick it up without something falling off is amazing.
Front doesnt look like mclaren P1 :(
it does
TF bro, how more could it not be?
Exactly the headlights are trash
I'm glad I'm not the only thought the front looks wrong but the back it perfect
Yeah it’s not the best, but I think the back looks great
Congratulations on beating me to the review 🤝
Waiting to see yours!
Hope to see u both on bwz camp in three weeks!!!
I love your reviews on the technical elements and functionality!
Thank you so much for the review! I’m so stoked about this set, I really want to get it. I think the designers did a really good job capturing all details of the car.
@@ProWierdchamp except the front
@@LegoSini the front looks flawless. (My opinion)
@@ProWierdchamp I don’t have doubt, but he’s not even similar compared to real life, for 450$ they could have done a better job
YOOO THIS IS MY FAVOURITE CAR OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!! Lol I am happy, but I am so happy to see the P1 in lego form. Just a masterpiece!!
Lego continues to amaze me!!!
I don't care about what people say, I love it. This one is by far the best looking 1:8 technic car. And I think it's the most iconic modern era McLaren
The gear box is amazing those Lego workers put on those hours perfecting it
Also, RacingBrick, I appreciate how you went over the mechanical aspects as you built it! 🤘👍
Can’t wait if Lego releases the new RB17 as a Lego set ! 😮
valkyrie first please!
Looks stunning! I don't care of it is not 100% replica, the angles and curves in this model are crazy good!
It looks fantastic, i can't wait for te Porsche gt4 eperformance
I really like this set because go it’s detail and size and how cool the whole process is, which is why I feel this helps not worry too much about the cabin roof, I feel like it shouldn’t be so tight, it looks more round than the real car
Very impressed with the technic techniques used in the door to accomplish the angles and the mechanism for the door and wing is really cool. From the press photos it didn't look all too impressive but this video showcasing all the angles up close in the studio makes it look really good. Awesome to see TLG still do the whole unbox experience and the story behind the brand and set in the manual too. I hope we still get these in the coming years, but I think TLG has a rebrand for this line up it's sleeve very soon...
I've been waiting for this review
Can't wait to own this set. It'll be my first of the 1:8 scale cars and I think it looks incredible. Great video, cheers!
Looks like an engineering masterpiece, can't wait to get my hands on it
Im glad lego is changing it up, I prefer older hyper and exotics.
I used to have a rc p1 toy car and dreaming that in the far future, i will design one for lego, but now, they've already made it!
Excelente reseña!!! Primera vez que sigo todo el proceso de un set de este tipo en una reseña.
6:00 nice Rainbow
Bright light orange is my most favourite lego colour.
This might be my favorite lego technic car ever 😃
This build is insane, I need it.
Fantastic technic set, and those front end looks better than the photos
Purple technic car had me rolling on the floor
Looks spectacular, and nicely detailed at this scale. Really like the new piece for the A pillars. Finally a change up from the always familiar flexi tubes that make up the windshield. Nice also to see no stickers in the set. Looks really time consuming to build though.
Oh how I’ll enjoy this when I get this set. (I built the Bugatti in 2020 and it took me 4 days, but it was very rewarding.
It’s about time I get another 1:8 scale hypercar
I really wish Lego would’ve made it in purple. I loved the P1 in purple with white wheels! Great pre view but I’ll wait for your thoughts in your next video. To see if it is worth getting!
This sets up an opportunity for the holy trinity.
I didn’t expect you to actually DO IT holy crap
On a side note, the p1 is pretty decent, it’s nice to see a brand new gear box. My only gripe is the front, I feel it could’ve been done a little better but the rest of the car looks remarkably true to the real thing, the rear end is so well done and accurate that it almost makes up for the front end. The subtle and smooth lines are very very well captured in the Lego version. If you just exclude the front end, it’s almost a perfect recreation. I have the Sian and Daytona and the new p1 is a good addition.
They have done a great job with recreation of P1 curves which is not a simple task. I think this is the best looking car out of all sets from this series and the build process looks fun with new parts. So tempted to buy it now.
I gotta say, this is definitely one of Lego Technic’s best sets; with all of the mechanics and systems it is truly a masterpiece, the only downside I see in it is that it costs 450 dollars!! But overall its a great set 👍
Seeing the new gearbox is already irresistible for me to own it. The side doors look much sturdier than Daytona, which is also good.
I will be patient enough to wait for a better bargain to own one.
Are the large and stiff shock absorbers really just the recolours? What if there is a different stiffness.
Honestly, all I want to do is build this set; I don't really want to keep it afterwards. 😊
Can’t wait, am ok with the P1.
seeing all the new mechanical parts just make me want LEGO to do parts packs again, not full sets, just parts pack so you can just get the new parts on their own
Love it, looks awesome thanks!!!!
To me it looks fine. They did the best they could with the front lights, and it looks pretty accurate ti me
LEGO FUTURE IS THIS !!!!!!
oh i love it! its everything i hoped it would be. im definitely getting this one on day 1. and i definitely think this one will have fantastic mocs. lets hope jamesJT will get this one too :)
I loved the "big purple Technic set" joke! 😂 12:00 I'm sure many people won't understand your sarcasm and will think you're serious 😅
Anyway, I don't care what haters say: I think it looks glorious 😍
In terms of looks it is on par with other lego technic sets IMO. The front almost looks like a 12C but the rest of it definitely looks like a McLaren P1. The technic sets are never perfect but they alway get very close
The p1 is probably my favorite McLaren anyway so i dont care that they picked an older model. It looks better than a 720(and its variants) IMO
I think this looks awesome. Lego technic has done a good job replicating the curves of the real car. I don’t mind the headlights, I think they look pretty cool. the only part I am a bit unsure of is the height of the a pilar. I think it’s a bit too tall and makes the the windows look a bit too big. but overall I love this set
I'd love to see a comparison with the little 6-wide Speed Champions McLaren P1 from the very first wave, which coincidentally has the same colour. I know it's an oldie and the shapes aren't really there, but I'd still appreciate to get a good side-by-side look :)
i think mclaren may have delayed the launch of the p1 successor to a later date which meant lego had to choose a different car to make which is why the set was delayed
Wonderful review, as always, Balázs, congratulations! It was a joy to watch it, together with Part2, and basically I like what I see, so now I am ready to buy P1 as my second LEGO 1:8 supercar, after the Porsche. However I have two questions:
- Is it correct that this model has no Ackermann steering? I really don't know why LEGO is not implementing this authentic function on their models, it is not that hard, and they even managed to do it in 1980 on the 8860 supercar chassis. And on this year's G Mercedes.
- Isn't it disturbing, that you have to pull up the doors directly, as the left out the push botton this time? It is again a function that was "invented" by LEGO decades ago.
Man that gearbox is so cool and maybe teaches some things as well. I might have to get this eventually especially if it goes on sale.
those beeching about the front are a bunch of nattering nabobs.
i myself am impressed since the designers took restrictive Lego panel shapes and managed to capture most of the highly curved panelings and surfaces of the car.
i can’t wait to own one.
I have a Porsche 🟠, Bugatti 🔵, Lambo 🟢, Ferrari 🔴and I am already looking forward to this great McLaren P1 🟡
Isn’t this the same color as the Porsche?
@@oliverdobner7960 no it isn't, the Porsche is orange and the P1 is yellow 😉
I love this set and will absolutely be buying it. I wish they did the wing in black though to make it match the actual car
I just enjoy the building experience
The wheels look gigantic. I’m sure it’s a visual thing and it’s fine in hand but it almost looks like they took a hot wheels cast and built off of that
Can’t wait to buy and build it!
even if it's a little dated, I'd say that model of car is one of the most iconic looks for the McLaren brand
This is definitely the best supercar so far. We've finally got the right parts for bodywork and the right parts for the transmission. I wish the interior weren't black, but eh, it is what it is.
i wish they used the huracan technica exhaust part on this car in the grey system build it would look so cool
Nice Mclaren P720S1
More like a 650sp1 😂
Love the doors, but why the P1? A has-been supercar if there ever was one.
Amazing car !
Looks like a really cool set and lots of cool new pieces. It's just a shame they did the P1 instead of the legendary F1.
But I suppose that's where the fun world of MOCs comes in.
8:35 I dont know if you tried this already so my bad if you did, but I like to kind of twist those types of pieces in, like a screw almost, when it's tight like that, it usually helps me get it in. Also, I am absolutely getting this car, what an amazing amount of functions and it looks to me, really stunning. Great video, I am still new but loving this channel!
Please make review for jesko absolut, I need that thing for sure!🙏🏻
I allready wanted to buy it becouse I love mclarens and it will be my first 1:8 technic set I now I like it even more
레고 테크닉에서 전기차 E 모드를 구현할 수 있다는 게 새롭네요
For me the headlights does not look close to the real car, but still a good build
Just finished the gotham city set for my wall. I think im gonna grab this next.
I really like it. Yes the front is off but oh the rest of it looks so good. I love the colour choice
I have been waiting for a 1:8 scale McLaren and dang it's awesome. though not my favorite McLaren (the 570S), the P1 is quite a good choice, and they did an amazing job
at first i wasn't a fan of how the headlights look but it seems to not be as bad as I thought. I would love to see a comparison to CaDA model if u have it, also would be cool to overlay the model w the real car to see if the proportion is good or not.
Honestly, the ads made it look bad, but with your take I might pick it up!
Shape looks accurate enough. Would get it if I was a fan of the P1. I agree, weird choice for the McLaren model to go with.
Try searching for Bruno McLaren P1 on UA-cam. His design for P1 front is much better than this official Lego set.
Can't wait for the Porsche set review.
Great Video!
Best supercar from LEGO since the Porsche but the price is totally sick.
Could you make a comparison with the cada amg f1
Marvellous set🥹🫠🙏🔥😍🧡💛
İ love this.gearbox so Nice
Side by side photo is funny. Looking from the back, LEGO model looks quite accurate. But from the front it looks like someone has crashed it into a wall.
I think they went with the P1 because the other cars in Mclarens line up don't have active elements which is what a technic set is normally about. The choice of the p1 over the f1 is probably down to it simply being newer and still being an iconic car.
flexible suspension parts feel weird, I'm wondering what's the purpose of it and whether this car will sag over time because of that. That placement of shock absorber for the door mechanizm blew me away though.
About tolerances on those parts - apart from the pin-axial direction, the liftarms and corresponding pieces have ~0.1mm of additional clearance which allows for moving parts to not stuck on each other.
It won’t be long until a tutorial on how to fix the front of the car so it ACTUALLY looks like a P1
this set looks iconic just like the real thing. a step forward from the daytona imo.
Thanks for the cool review! Wonder why the gearbox does not include reverse instead of neutral if the selector can put the car in neutral anyway. A comparison to the 1:10 Silent Assassin would have been great but maybe another time.
It looks awesome, I will reay consider buying it 😅😣🧡
