This is not only an impressive Lego Technic feat, but also a lesson in how a gearbox functions. I really love the two types of load-testing you have at the end and I appreciate how you collected data points and graphed them out. I think the only thing missing is a nice technic mount using rods and tires to hold the tachometer in place right next to the wheel so you don't have to hold it with your hand.
but how? its an electric motor, wouldn't it just top out at the same max speed than without the gearbox? the only thing it shows is every gear has a different rpm which uh... that doesn't really happen in a normal car so I don't think it's a good lesson on how a gearbox functions but it is pretty cool

We need Lego sets like this… maybe a sub technics, ‘Educational’. I’d buy them and if I learnt with this in like school as a more practical theory before working on the cars and engines. Schools and colleges would save money, in turn governments will save money. Parents will encourage it, children will love it, and adults will love it. I see a definite market for this within Lego. But if they won’t, I hope you use bricklink. 😊 Edit: It is exceptionally functional, but also lacking realistic accuracy’s like size, but that was not the intention, realistic functionality was. Your suspension videos made me think of an old (and very bad) technical chassis I made some time ago, and watching these videos made me try again! You are an absolute wizard at making complex mechanisms and concepts really easy to learn, keep it up!
I feel like with the suspension test, the gear box, the rough terrain roller and this that you planning on building a full on racing ATV. You should btw....like a racing ATV and fully functioning Lego garage/testing lab. Next suggestions: 1. Automated pitstop crew 2. Folding convertible roof 3. Joystick guided aiming system for a Lego football cannon or your older card tank

Watching how the gearboxes could liter change the speed without even doing anything to the motor really goes to show how advanced LEGO really has become. I remember this one time when I built a gearbox that could change the speed and direction with one motor. It was really fun and actually not all too hard if you understood the gimmicks. Nothing has ever helped me understand how gear shifting works in a car than this video, and it's made me understand why it's even called "gear shifting". And from a Lego video no less.
The visuals really helped me understand just what the fuck a transmission is. I know it has something to do with making a car move differently, but seeing a mess of gears tells me nothing. Seeing the paths of the gearing when different speeds were shown makes so much more sense. It also made me realize that gearboxes are so complex because they have to route usually 5 sets of reductions that have to work in so many different configurations without shredding itself apart.

Sariel showed a more compact way to do this for technically unlimited numbers of gears in his book. Not sure why you had the driving rings all alligned as having each one have a different ratio greatly reduces the complexity and size. That being said, your video is excecuted so well, its awesome and i take a lot if inspiration from you. Keep making great projects! P.S. I'd love to see a gearbox that berforms well at higher speeds and torques that could be used in rc cars with the buwizz motors.
