- Comic is short for stand-up comic. Some make you belly laugh, while others have a more intellectual style. Watch the new episode of Scott Baio’s Take On Life, and hear Mark Jones recall some older talent, including seeing Rowan & Martin live. George Saadi fondly remembers visiting comedy clubs in the wee hours of the mornings to check out contemporary up-and-coming talent. Scott reminisces about his parents taking the family to see Totie Fields. It used to be that the payoff for a stand-up comic was landing their own sitcom. Is that still the case? My favorite changes as time passes but surprisingly no one here mentioned one of the goats, Richard Pryor.

The late great Richard Lewis, George Wallace, Robert Klein. I agree about David Brenner, very funny!
Jerry Lewis gave us that Skit comedy that nobody does anymore. I am impersonator of Jerry because we share that character, he played a disorder kid which I was at 9 years old and used that comedy to hide my disorder and now as I am bring back in the only way I know to bring back Skits that are lost in entertainment. I started a production company Face2Face production that has Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis tribute show. I loved the old guys they were joke tellers with a push line . Great show guys . 🥂

Definitely have to shout out for some great female comedians, like Roseanne Barr, who still tours, and our dearly departed Judy Tenuta, Phyllis Diller and Joan Rivers.
Don't forget jonathan winters.
Rodney Dangerfield, Henny Youngman, W.C. Fields, George Carlin, Bob Newhart, Phyllis Diller, and Joan Rivers were all great comics and actors as well. Each of them were the whole package.
Today comics are either blue or dull.
In real life Jerry Lewis was an asshole and Dean Martin had all the talent - and Jerry knew it!

I liked Steven Wright. Also, of course Scott Baio..Liittle Chachi used to crack me up on Happy Days. Chachi became my favorite character on the entire show He was likable, lovable and naturally hilarious.

Abbott & Costello! Saw Jackie Mason once in a comedy club. Wasn't funny, but then again, they were Jewish jokes so I didn't get it. Saw George Carlin locally. He was trying out new material. Didn't go over so well. I'll end with this, Jack & Jill went up the hill....Jill came down with $2.50 😂🤣

Kelsey Cook is hilarious. Some of the best current comedians are actually women.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's, I don't know if it was because I was young then but I enjoyed all the comedians.. a lot of the modern-day comedians are filled with perverted, disgusting content and narratives, they are no longer keep my attention more than the first 30 seconds

Alan King, Jay Leno, David Brenner, Bob Newhart, Richard Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Louie Anderson, Tim Conway, Lucy, Roseanne. George Carlin never appealed to me when I was younger. Appreciate him now as an adult. Don't care for standup comics who curse their way through their routine.
