I can’t wait to get a reflexx pad! Been trying to get one for about 2 months now, but they’ve been out of stock since COVID state restrictions in New York has stopped them from being able to manufacture the pads.
I think another candidate for this shootout is the ProLogix Marksman. I bought that one a few weeks ago, and it's a terrific pad, and the small target in the center reminds me of when I studied with Chuck Brown, who taught Terry Bozzio and David Garibaldi, to name two drummers. He had practice pads with a rubber target the size of a half dollar at his teaching studio, and the pads he made himself. At first he had me use a regular Remo pad at the beginning, for the multiple bounce rolls. Then it was the small rubber target, that to this day has helped me hit all my drums dead center perfect. The Marksman has four surfaces, and the one with the green center for the multi bounce press roll technique, the others finger and wrist control, and the red center one for open/close or down/collect (kinda like drop/catch), which was Brown's technique. I have practiced on pillows, mousepads, sidewalks, benches, anything, but nothing outside of your drums is like a good pad. The best pad I ever used was one that one of my first teachers had, one he made himself that had an inch of rubber made from a special batch of rubber he found in the late 60's. He was teaching me either Spivack or Gladstone, I forget it was back in the 80's, and that pad really helped you key on the nuances of the technique. He made me one, but not out of that batch of rubber lol. But the ProLogix is close, the green center one.
Hey! That’s a really neat story! Yes; one of my students owns the marksman. I’ve personally never used it, but I’m sure it would be a great pad - especially for developing accuracy!
I have to check out the reflexx pad. The others I am aware of and have played. I don’t have the green pro logix, but the red storm. My actual favorite though is Off World Invader. Thanks.
I have the prologix - american made but you kinda pissed me off because I like the grey insert but I didnt get one of those. Not sure why as it was purchased new. I think I am going to try a reflex pad though. Possibly the zildjian one?
Nice nice!!!! I am going to pick up the Prologix AllN1 because of the brushes insert, but I am also going to buy their 4 piece Practikit practice pads to upgrade the practice pads on the DW's Smart Practice go any where kit!!!! A bit of money for this upgrade kit but I feel like it's a waaay better setup than what comes on the DW practice kit.
I’ve always wanted to play the drums, but could never afford a drum set. I just found out (don’t know why lol) about drum pads! This is a great option for me! BUT i know nothing about brands! Your video helped a lot! But is there any advice you could give me as a beginner?! Please and thank you!!
Hey there! That’s awesome! I’m really glad you found the video helpful. Ok, so advice - biggest advice is to just play along with music. And also begin to practice the 40 Essential Drum Rudiments: vicfirth.zildjian.com/education/40-essential-rudiments.html There are short lesson videos and play-along tracks on the website. Rudiments are the foundation of drumming, so you definitely want to spend time mastering each rudiment. Hope that helps!
Asucena Madrigal I say don’t go cheap. If your paying 20& for a Chinese pad, pay 20$ extra for an Evans real feel or I suggest a Vic firth pad. For the amount that you’re paying for a cheap Chinese brand, you might as well get an American made product that will last! Check out the Vic Firth Slimpad.
Yeah! They are a small company based in Chicago, Illinois. I hadn’t heard of them either! They’ve been sponsoring me for almost two years - they are great drumsticks. They play well and are very durable.
Great question! So…the “hurt” could be a strong word. A few days before this video I did about an hour and a half practice session with the Movement drum co. pad, and I did notice some hurt/fatigue in my hands. The movement co. main playing surface is just super bouncy - which can be good! If you’re working on diddles/super drum Corp-oriented stuff then you want a pad like the movement drum co. where it has tons of rebound. But the Reflexx is a good blend of conditioning while still providing rebound - and it’s super quiet! Anyway, hope that helps!
@@ChontosDrumLessons that does help thank you! Ive been comparing drum co and reflexx for days trying to decide what one to get. Would you say the reflexx is more like a real drumset and the movement one is more like a marching style practice?
@@ChontosDrumLessons i am just starting but want a pad that will mimic a real drum set so i can develop good habits i can while learning the basics and build the muscles i need and not rely on too much rebound
Gotcha! That’s awesome that you are starting to play drums!!! It’s such a fun and rewarding instrument. Ok. As someone who’s just starting out, I doubt you’re wanting to drop $70 on a drum pad. I’d recommend one of the smaller versions of the Prologix Pads - they will give you good rebound but not too much. Check out this pad: it’s a double sided pad, and features a “bullseye” in the middle to help you work on your aim! Pretty cool! www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MPAD12--prologix-percussion-marksman-dual-sided-practice-pad-12-inch
@@ChontosDrumLessons yup price is a factor for sure. 70 is a bit high. Wow that one is marked down to 45. I was looking at prologix too but was a little overwhelmed by their choices too with all the colors and differences. This one looks likethe best of all worlds! I hope theres not too much shipping on sweetwater. Thank you so much man! So u think this one is the most like a real drum for the price. If i had 70 to spend on one is there another one ud recommend that is even more like a real drum? Or is this bullseye one the best even compared to more expensive ones?
I can’t wait to get a reflexx pad! Been trying to get one for about 2 months now, but they’ve been out of stock since COVID state restrictions in New York has stopped them from being able to manufacture the pads.
Ah man that’s a bummer!!
I'm in the exactly same situation here. Been trying to get one for months now!

Jared Chontos Thank you! Any recommendations for a good beginners pad drum?
@@chenalove123 I'd say to get the Kibaga drum pad -- the Evans Real Feel pad is also a great choice!

what do you think about prologix main rubber vs movement drum ???
Mmmm. The movement is definitely bouncier. That’s really the main difference!
i was eating breadsticks whilst watching this, and almost ate my actual drumstick
Lol
the side on the back is used for accent practice
Hello Jared. What brand and model of sticks are those?
Hey there! In this video I’m using Scorpion Percussion 5A sticks with acorn tips. 🤙🏻

What? Really? Hahaha. 😂

Right!! I don’t know why that is 🤷🏻♂️
Are prologix pads good like with out rim
