Using Dynavox T10 to learn to accept being told no!

  • So Kreed knows exactly how to ask for what he wants on his device. However in the past he was not great at accepting no. With the maestro we had to hide buttons, create pages to explain no etc. It was difficult and we never managed to help this behavior. With the T10 we have finally conquered this behavior! The T10 has so much vocabulary and so many different ways of asking for things, that Kreed will now exhaust every avenue and he generally seems to feel like he asked every way he can and the answer is still no. And now he will accept being told no without biting or hurting himself. He might cry. He pretty much talks to me for about ten minutes- just like a normal kid would beg for what they want. I find this amazing. And my number one reason for loving the T10. I dare anyone to find an AAC system with as much language as the compass software has in it. This behavior of Kreed's is a milestone for us- I was actually not sure if we would conquer this. But he has proven us wrong again and has done amazing!!

You don't just get autism you're born with it. My son is almost 10. He is a high functioning kid with autism, bipolar, ocd, learning and speech impairements. He just learned to speak a few yrs ago. He is very intelligent does more and works harder than most kids his age.

    • @katherinedupoise4604

Sometimes you can be born with it and sometimes you can get it later in life. I've noticed that a lot of high functioning adults go get married and have autistic children. And Autism can come up for various reasons even if you aren't born with it. No, I'm not talking about the vaccinations but you can develop autism from the preservatives in food or pollution in the air.

No you are always born with it. Sometimes you are diagnosed later but people have it all through their life. I have Aspergers

Wow. Such scientific insights all three of you guys have. NOT
Just because someone has autism, does NOT make them an authority on autism.
And we don’t know if you’re always born with autism or not. We barely even know what autism is. A lot of scientists agree there are probably many different causes of autism and it’s not just genes they all suspect cause autism. Kreed’s autism is probably a very different type from yours or mine, given all of the additional conditions he had.
Many people say their autistic child was completely normal until age 2 or 3, then changed radically. Of course, that could be a matter of opinion in some cases: some supposedly previously normal children did display traits of autism that their parents didn’t recognize as such before the radical change in behavior occurred.
Until we figure out a way to completely understand every aspect of child development, brain development and all kinds of other areas of medicine, no one can say autism is always congenital without being a quack. Quacks ruin things for sufferers of conditions like autism, because their bogus theories contribute nothing to solutions many people desperately want and need.

My son teddie has autism and his speech has been slow to come he is only 5 at the moment ".. he does tend to hum and sing mainly in german or spanish nursery ryhmes he watches on u tube " he learned them via echolalia !!!!.. we are english and do not speak any other language only our mother tongue !!!! He has abilities i dont im quite sure i couldnt learn a nursery ryhme in another language so quickly ...!!!!... he is very gentle and quite loving and laughs and smiles alot... he can ask for food and drink and will say if he is sad or sore " .. tiolet training is on going but we have hope he is cracking his next hurdle .. !!!!.. dad hopes lol... .. he loves his tablet and is quite computer orientated he can talk but it can be more in what i call broken english ".. he does tend to learn by repetition and although this is slow the lesson is learned and he retains it . . His speech is improving all the time and i was wondering if this device will stop his progression " i can see how this device can really help kids or adults with autism but i still wont my son to continue learning to speak and express it with language and speech at what ever pace he chooses to learn... progress is progress no matter how slow ... !!!!!!... if my son started to use this would it help or hinder him im asking becuase u know more about it than i do i have researched it but another parents view would mean more than all the tech and sales pitches... !!!!!!!... great video guys all the best ... x

Do you think Kreed's desire to eat out has to do with the instant gratification of getting the food immediately rather than waiting for it to cook, or do you think it has more to do with the act of going out?

    • @Kreedsvideos

frosti1031 for Kreed it's going out. We have many many conversations about this ha. And he's obsessed with their fries.
