- @OuterSpaceNews - Unveiling the Future of Army Aviation - Defiant X
Exciting Times for Army Aviation! In this video, we dive into the groundbreaking details of the recently revealed Defiant X, the advanced compound helicopter vying for the U.S. Army's Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) contract. Developed by Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin and Boeing, the Defiant X promises to revolutionize the way the Army meets threats in 2035 and beyond.
Key Features:
Developed on the experience of the Defiant, the Defiant X boasts two rigid coaxial rotors and a pusher propeller for high-speed capabilities.
Achieved a speed of 211 knots in straight-and-level flight, setting the stage for speeds exceeding 250 knots, meeting the U.S. Army's desired criteria.
Twice the range and speed of the UH-60 Black Hawk, positioning it as "the fastest, most maneuverable and most survivable assault helicopter in history."
Purpose-built for a modernized Army, providing expanded reach, survivability, and lethality in a multi-domain battle space.
Design Enhancements:
Improved aerodynamics with a refined shape and a new angled nose.
Reduced thermal signature with a redesigned exhaust system.
New front landing gear and transformed tricycle landing gear configuration for enhanced stability.
Competition and Contenders:
Competing against Bell's V-280 Valor, the Defiant X faces off in the FLRAA program, with both helicopters meeting the Army's stringent requirements.
Global interest in the Future Vertical Lift program, with the UK, Italy, NATO, and other countries exploring partnerships and information exchange.
What's Next?
Anticipating the Army's release of the FLRAA request for proposal later this year, with a contract award expected in 2022.
The Defiant X's "little brother," the Raider X, developed for the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) program, adds an intriguing dynamic to the competition.
Global Impact:
Beyond the U.S., countries like the UK, Italy, NATO, and others express interest in the Future Vertical Lift program, showcasing its potential global impact.

The defiant is the most beautiful.
They lost the competition so no, this will not be the next generation Helo.
There is nothing like a stealth helicopter. That rotating thing above canopy loves the doppler radars.
MADE IN USA ALWAYS POWERFUL N BEAUTIFUL
Man, the LAPD could really catch some speeders with 1 of these bad boys…=)
bring back comanche helicopter from the yard!
Looks nice.a gunship escort version should have side trapdoors that wing out with rotary racks and a slide shutter on the side windows that shutters when anything is fired.
This helicopter design seems to be capable of safely hovering , landing and taking off again on mountain terrain above the death zone at 8,000 M or 26,000 Ft. Does anyone know if it's able to perform this astounding feat?
Chinuk changes bodyweight in carbon and aluminium alloy.
Defiant should test fuel and chamber function on speed up hauling.
Right On
Helicopters and tanks are now expensive targets.
Alright hobby RC helicopter manufacturers, when will we get an RC version of this?
Mechanics will be interesting. May need 6 servos to control the head if using CCPM control configuration: 3 for each blade set. But subtract one servo that is no longer needed for the tail.
I like this one more than any other
Wow
The Valor won because of range and speed. Due to missile drone and aircraft, bases will be have to be staged farther away from the battlefield.
Of course it is stealth. Except the noise they all Helicopters are making if the approaching the enemy! Com on people don’t believe in BS , but believe in me!
Might be stealth but noisy - hope the enemy are deaf? Being sarcastic!
ITS A MULTI PURPOSE HELI.
O Brazil produziu um desses, movido a cachaça...
Defiant sadly lost its bid. 3 years ago. And calling a Chinook vulnerable?...erm.
Submarine propeller 😅😅
Finally the KA-52 rotor technology and its potential are ticking with the USA flag?
To many moving parts 😂
Don't think so
Copy of Russian Ka
