Namjoon said that he wrote the songs in his darkest moments. He said that his feelings can help other people and you know it really did. He helped millions of us with this album. When i listen mono i feel like namjoon is there holding my hand sitting next to me without any judgement. And i know that i'm not the only one that feels that :)

This album literally changed my life. Literally. It's healing and therapy and a warm hug when I feel like the world is about to swallow me up. I don't have it on my regular rotation bc it puts me in a headspace that's too heavy for me to be in everyday. But I always come back to it when I need it, always.
24:57 RM recently collab with eAeon in his song "don't" it's so beautiful I'm in love with that music.
YESS i’ve been waiting for this!💜 I just wanted to add some insight! :
1. At 11:58 the lyrics say “and the Han Rivers that bear too much han” i think it has a really sad meaning. So basically, the Han River is a river in Seoul, and people often go picnic there and enjoy the view. Now there’s also the word ‘han’. ‘Han’ is a concept of an emotion often described as grief, resentment, regret, sorrow etc.etc. It is a complex concept and you don’t really have a direct translation for it in English. It’s also a word Koreans identify with, especially after the Japanese occupation of Korea. Now the usage of ‘han’ in this line obviously acts as a play on words with Han River, but my interpretation is that it’s also used because Han River is also the place where many people take their own lives. Hence why the word ‘han’ fits well. As a korean, it really hit me in the feels.
2. 14:48 Joon’s phone call translation: “Hello? .... I’m at the Han River, but I’m gonna go ..... m’kay”
3. eAeon dropped a new song “Don’t” a few days ago and RM features in it! I personally absolutely loved it (RM’s rap verse lyrics are beautiful as always)

Before, i take the "Han and han" thing as simple as i can. I mean like "Han river is also a place for so many Han (literally a person's name) took their lives. Like we we know Han river is so beautiful yet the same time it's a sad place 😭

once saw someone say that the best thing about mono is that you can listen to it when your feeling sad, and instead of the music feeling like it's forcing you to feel better, it offers you a shoulder to cry on and a friend to listen and understand you. I couldn't agree with this more
I fought against hearing RM’s mono playlist for a long time, because I had heard about the theme. I just didn’t want to go there and I usually like upbeat songs, so BTS always came first.Then, I finally yielded and it really tapped a new set of emotions that I didn’t know I had. Now, I find comfort in mono, and I look forward to sunset walks with my headphones.

When I first listened to the "playlist" I was in full out tears by the end. I am honored that RM gave us an intimate look inside his head and heart. It made me feel a little voyeuristic but I know he intended that. The trust he has in his fans and in his art is just amazing. I am always blown away by RM. I literally listen to this every night.
And he said he didn't call it a mixtape or album because all the songs are meant to evoke a similar feeling, like a playlist would. This playlist is really a masterpiece.

by the way eAeon is the artist that made the song „don‘t“ with rm! on twitter we really tried to promote it a lot and its such a good one maybe you can fit it in your schedule some time or just listen to it in your free time because i absolutely love eAeons voice its really special and just namjoons lyrics are wonderful, as usual help

There are many people (in my opinion) that do not give this mixtape enough credit. Namjoon is so educated and so eloquent in his rap, singing, wordplay, etc. I truly think he is one of the greatest lyricists of our time. This mixtape has a VERY special place in my heart. Namjoon coincidentally released this mixtape shortly after me and my boyfriend of 7 years broke up and this mixtape helped me cope and love myself and made me feel comforted when the person I loved most in this world hurt me and broke me. I've never felt such a strong connection to music in my life. I'm a lover of all music and this just resonated with me more than anything else. I actually have "mono" tattooed on my wrist as a reminder that I was able to cope with pain and was able to push through the darkest part of my life. I'm forever grateful to him and his artwork that is mono.
Tokyo is written in 동경 in Korean and it means longing & yearning for something.
Mono truly helped me so much. I was lucky that he released this during some of the hardest times I’ve gone through. I felt so validated and just not alone. Like as if someone understood me completely.. and it gave me a lot of comfort during those times. I love it so much and appreciate it so much.

Moonchild hit me so hard, i cried listening to it the first time. It had such an impact on me, I tattooed "moonchild" on my skin to be reminded of the comfort this song gave and still gives me. Its like an anchor i carry around.

mono really helps me a lot the playlist feels like a soft hug when i feel alone and no one understands me i listen to this and get comforted. Joon really have this way where u can feel genuinely comforted tho he's not literally speaking to me directly i feel his presence more that the people i personally know and are near me i feel like finally someone's not gonna judge and make me feel that I'm valid like im not scared to be vulnerable with him

This album/playlist, I always say it feels like a giant hug. Like, it's my comfort album. When i'm having a bad day, or my depression gets worse, I'll just put this on & listen to it start to finish. It's not a happy album, per se, but it's a real & relatable album. It helps me so much. It's saved me so many times from doing something regrettable due to my depression.
Also...listening to this as you walk through the rain or snow...is perfection. I highly recommend it lol

This mixtape is healing to me. Often times you can push yourself through life and not even notice when you need to stop and just have a good cry. This mixtape is just a much needed release when I am in pain and don't even notice it and it heals me.

I used to think that he says "wake up in tokyo feel like a torn soul" at 3:24 and honestly my mind sometimes still goes back to that, especially since namjoon says his work is up to interpretation. Yes Namjoon suffered from anxiety and depression. I think death threats and bullies does that to a person but we don't know the extent of the issue

I'm a year late to this, but I feel like one thing we don't often talk about regarding the line "I see Pinocchio wearing a poncho, that's me some time ago" in Tokyo is that not only Pinocchio was a puppet that wanted to become a person, but he was also a liar, in my country that's Pinocchio's main trait
imo joon is definitely thinking of himself as a liar on that song, whatever that means to him

one thing i like about "tokyo" is that many lines sound like various different words. i always see completely different lyrics for it and they all sound perfectly correct to me and i don't really know which one is the real one, but i guess the lyrics that are on spotify might be the correct ones? or maybe there's no correct and different interpretations is what he was going for.
