Loved it! I’ve wanted to go to Luckenbach for years! I had no idea they had so much to look at, I figured I would just take a picture of the town sign! Looks like you had a great time, Happy New Year Coach!
Oh goodness, I totally agree. I have absolutely zero interest of ever going to Times Square, especially on New Year. You really think I want to fight that crowd of people? You must be out of your mind.
@@alerobabes01 I'm a bit weird, I think of NYE as just another day. You can celebrate a new year any time you want. Feb. 1 to Feb. 1 is a year. Your birthday is a new personal year for you. On the eve of your birthday, when the clock strikes midnight, scream "Happy New Year, me!" 😄
What a cool place to spend NYE. In 1977 or 78 I was driving from Altus AFB OK to Kelly AFB in San Antonio. Made a detour through Luckenback because that is when the song was at the top of the charts. Someone had stolen the town signs. Lol. That is a pretty part of the country.
Hi john great spot i alawys wondered what towns look like that you hear about an since finding your channel its great seeing the states an i would much rather be there than a big city . Cheers mate 🇦🇺
I am in south central Nebraska, and it is fun to run up north or northwest at night and see the fantastic light show! I grew up i southeast Iowa before light pollution, and remember being under those wonderful stars at night doing field work. And it is great to go see again. And the "Outback" of Nebraska is a great place to see it from. Wish I was up there every night. And I knew that the song was about a real town, because I had heard of the town before. But I never realized that it was that small. I figured it was a sprawling Texas town yet till this day. Funny how our mines figure things out on their own, right or wrong.
Thanks for the visit to Lunkenbach TX.. That's where my father was born and my mother in Fredericksburg..I still have family all in that area..Brings back some good childhood memories..Really enjoy your videos
Really enjoyed this video! I remember when Luckenbach was smaller (not as many buildings) and hard to find. Gotta say John Wise, if this old gal had of been there, I would’ve planted one on you at the stroke of midnight! Happy New Year!!!
Great video. Been to Luckenbach plenty of times and is always alot of fun. Great cold beer and lots of friendly people to chat with. Thanks for this video.
"Given the option of; a couple million people in NY, or a couple hundred in Luckenbach...." Every time. Great Vid. Hoping 2023 is better than the last TWO.....
So are there actual businesses in that "ghost town" or just gift shops? I mean are there restaurants, motels, things like that? Or do people just go out there for the day/night and leave?

Definitely worth it if you’re ever in the vicinity!

Thank you! Yeah he was really entertaining!
What a wonderful way to celebrate a new year. I never knew that it was a real place
Wow that violinist is fantastic!
Ain't nobody feelin no pain.
Love it!! Texans are really great folks. They know how to party.
They definitely do! It was a fun night!
That song brings back so many memories. Will never get sick of it
One of the classics!!
Loved it, good job.
Loved this.i agree I will hang out in Lukenbach any time.
They didn't write the song, "The stars at night are big and bright (clap, clap, clap, clap) deep in the Heart Of Texas" for no reason. LOL.

One of my favorites NYE’s of all time! Very cool place to visit!
Went to Luckenbach 20 years ago, when there was just the original post office/bar/store. Still have my t-shirt.

Thank you very much! It’s a cool little spot to hang out and learn about some great Texas history!
The stars are amazing when out where no one is. I like lake Mac in Nebraska.

Thank you! I really had a lot of fun! That’s a great area there - I stayed in Fredericksburg!
Just discovered your channel. I love it. It should grow, because it is awesome. Thank you Wiseguy.
Thank you very much! Very kind of you to say 😊

Love your thumbnail "New Year's in a Ghost Town" what better way to spend New Year's?
It was a good choice! 😊
Great video. Been to Luckenbach plenty of times and is always alot of fun. Great cold beer and lots of friendly people to chat with. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for watching! I really had a lot of fun too. Would love to go back!
Excellent!🇺🇸🇨🇱

Thank you!! Same to you!
If only Hondo Crouch was still alive!!
😊
Nice vudeo, can you do more video on Iowa and the dakotas plz :)
Would love to! Unfortunately I live in Kansas and don’t get up that way often (and have a full time job). Hopefully I can soon!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy that cool, in Australia you have to driver for hours to see old ghost town or even day or two lol..
" If you're gonna play in Texas. Ya gotta have a fiddle in the band" Kin Faux definitely delivered!
They were really entertaining!!
agree with you
That song come out when my knee still worked good. I tried to dance back then. Looked like it was warm when you were there!
Yes it was around 70 during the day then 50 at night. Everyone was saying how cold it was haha
Your boots?! Your hat??!
You were up a “Creek” without ‘em!
😂😂
love the license plate collection !!!
There were even more too!
This place is on my bucket list😁
Definitely worth the trip!
Hey man! I work here! Definitely a fun place to work and chill afterwards!
Awesome! Such a cool place to work!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy absolutely! Let me know next time you’re out, I’ll do a sit down with ya!
Dang. Rico killing it.
He was legit!!
Fun place. Gruene in New braunfels has a great music venue. Love the channel.
I’ve heard of that one too. Definitely on my bucket list!
,the houses and old buildings are neat little shops.
So is there still an actual operating post office still there or is just that an old post office building turned into a gift shop?
It’s just a gift shop now, but it’s the same building. PO closed in the 70’s.
Post Office was absorbed by nearby Fredericksburg in the 1970s but we can still mail postcards out with a Luckenbach mail stamp!
FUN!! 😊
Yes! 😊
So are there actual businesses in that "ghost town" or just gift shops? I mean are there restaurants, motels, things like that? Or do people just go out there for the day/night and leave?
There’s one Air BnB across the road and then just a couple gift shops. And a bar that’s open when music is playing - which is most of the day.
Still leaves on the trees on NYE?
I keep watching. And keep adding to the bucket list. Thanks 😊
It’s pretty far south so the weather is pretty warm even on December 1!
