I have 2 library apps on my phone and listen to free audiobooks while I knit, crochet, cook, clean, fold laundry and drive. I get all the bestsellers plus! When my husband and I take long trips we find an audiobook we both like to listen to. It really helps the trip pass.

This was great. I loved every minute and all your answers on so many subjects. The Sunday roasts sound wonderful. Martin Bear is fantastic. Best wishes for September!

Thank you for answering all of the questions. I feel like I know you better-and I also know British customs better. I finally figured out that whenever any of the British UA-camrs that I watch refer to 'mash', they are referring to what we call mashed potatoes. We only think we speak the same language. 🤣 I have my own version of Mark's jumper, and you have my total sympathy. I look forward to visits with you. When I was growing up-Sunday dinners were customary, and they sound much like your Roasts. Congratulations on the Martyn Bear! Much deserved.

That was lots of fun. Listening to audiobooks is the way I knit and ‘read’. How wonderful that you have a Toft bear now ❤. Did the Slipstravaganza start with a giant cord then pick up stitches from that? Would love to know how many WIPs you have now. Maybe a video reprise on the would be fun.

Thinking about weaving in the ends on Mark's jumper gives me borrowed anxiety.
    I couldn't face it.🫣

Martyn thank you for this lovely hour plus! Always enjoy these “visits”! I love your WIPs and seeing your progress. Can’t wait to meet Martyn bear! I’m trying to work out a plan between now and MKAL cast on…what to finish, what to put on hold, what to cast on new-just in case (you get the idea…) I do love your mindset and all your positivity! This is a very lovely community to be a part of….Thank you!

If I'm not watching/listening to UA-cam while I'm knitting, I'll listen to books on my phone. I read in bed every night and am really enjoying the kindle I just got. I get books to download from the library.

Your favorite shawl is my favorite shawl. That was so much fun to knit. Then my next favorite shawl is Stephen West's Exploration Station. They are so wearable. I love how you two met. You have a wonderful life and such a loving family. I love hearing about family gatherings and your cake you make at Christmas. You are an amazing knitter and crocheter. You motivate us all in our crafting. I want to ask you about your yellow shawl in the beginning of each video. Can you show that one and tell us what it is. It's beautiful. A MARTIN BEAR! It's so cute! I love that they are doing one of you! I might have to get that one! Thank you for sharing your life with us. You are what humanity should be. A good person, who gives, loves, and is loved back. Sending you both a hug from me, an old lady in the USA.

My niece was married in Cambridge in 2022 and I was able to go over for the wedding and a few days of fun. After all the festivities, me, my sister and our spouses all went for a Sunday Roast at a local pub. It was wonderful! Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and all the veggies - Yum!. All that to say that every time Mark is roasting a chicken or you guys are preparing your Sunday roast, my mouth immediately starts watering. So, I guess I come for the knitting, but stay for dinner - LOL

    I love the Q&A!!
I'm also a knitter who crochets, even though I learned crochet first (at around 5 or 6, even made & sold crochet vests at 9), knitting is my love. I'm retired now, after working the thin gold line for 32 years, plus other jobs.. retirement is amazing!! I can do what I want when I want. 😁
The "lemonade' made me laugh, I, by choice, was the DD, I ALWAYS had club soda with lime, because it looked like a vodka tonic. 😉
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a cocktail, but in the comfort of my own home. 😊
I'm STILL not sure if I'm doing the WKMKAL this year. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I haven't touched last year's in months & I didn't like the one before it either. ☹️
I love wraps, but I agree, I want a schlanket shawl!! No picking up, no modular...I just don't like that style.
I hope Irena does "the people of Westknits" again. I find it so interesting.
    Martyn bear is stinkin'cute!!
I still need to send you the email for the MAL projects, since I don't have/want Instagram.

You're videos always leave me in a better mood than I started. 😊 I've been following your recent progress on Geogradient as I've been knitting on mine to finish before planning the next MKAL. As far as hobbies, I like reading ebooks while knitting vanilla socks on 9 inch circular, so I can get both hobbies in at the same time. I have gotten back into audiobooks while finishing my shawl.

I am getting really excited for MKAL2024 even though I hate fall. Can’t believe the kits are dropping this Saturday! I am debating about getting a mystery kit, but I am likely too much of a control freak to take a chance on getting colours I don’t like. 😬. The MKAL makes it easier to deal with the cooler temps and encroaching darkness. By the time I finish, it is time to get ready for Christmas. This will only be my 3rd. Hard to believe I haven’t been doing them forever. Twists and Turns and Irina are how I “met” you, a very fortuitous thing for my life. You are very inspiring as you have a work life as well as just crafting.
Still haven’t managed to do Slipstravaganza. I’m so looking forward to starting it. I have the yarn all ready to go and everything.

Great Q&A - didn’t get chance to send a Q but you answered it…how many MKALs had you done! Never knew you worked in/for a Bank!! I’m definitely a reader, switch between hard copy and my kindle, but will always love a proper book…I have a habit of sniffing new books 😂. Working full time with a toddler leaves limited time for much but I always try to craft every day, even if just for 10 mins!

Thank you for this video. I asked the question about crafting as a job - so many people ask me that and I say that no, this is my time. Like you I do an office job, sitting in front of a computer so craft time is down time. Exercise in the morning is much better for me. Planning is the key. I agree so much with what you said, it really resonated with me.

U inspired me to get my unfinished MKAL out. I’m up to the second part of clue 3 as well. I am thinking of designing my own border as I don’t like the dip stitch border for mine. It’s just too much. Unsure if I’ll do this years MKAL as I really don’t like last years centre construction but then maybe he won’t do that again….
Have knitted 2 other Stephen West shawls since the MKAL and loved them. They were so much fun.

Brilliant video. Have no idea how to find stories on Instagram. My grandchildren think it's hilarious how bad I am, but I can read a knitting or crocheting pattern better than them! 🙄😂

Really interesting film Martyn thank you for being so generous with your answers! I am trying to lose weight currently and am prioritising that over crafting BUT when I do I am now crocheting and needle felting. My knitting project (the Stephen West HiberKnitalong from last year) is festering in a bag feeling very unloved right now. But thats ok, I will do it sometime. I find crochet and needle felting easier to pick up and put down. I definitely won't be SW MKAL this year. Last year was my first and I didn't enjoy it really (though I did finish), I think it was exacerbated by the "controversy" around week 1 but I also didn't enjoy the "speed competitiveness" of it all (not you, because your mantra is a good one). We are all different and that is ok. I will however be following along and your enthusiasm is great to follow for this MKAL time of year. D

Im trying to be kind to myself but like my knitting its a work in progress 😅 and I understand the bad exercise head space too so im making an effort to be consistent 😊

Hi ! Thanks for your video. I have a question on the Slipstravaganza. Last year I gave up the Stephen West mystery knit along, essentially because wool had to be cut so often. I hate cutting beautiful wool. I'd like to know if slipstrabanganza requises cutting yarn very often. Thanks.
