Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia): a historic drive-around from 1985 (part 1 of 3)

This is the 1st of 3 uploads (playlist in sequence is here • Gold Coast (Queensland... ) that make up the whole footage: from Mermaid Waters, up into Southport via Bundall, then into Surfers Paradise via Main Beach, and back via Broadbeach.
My dad filmed this for some family in Germany (hence his German commentary) to show them what the Gold Coast looked like. No apologies made for the retro video quality & camerawork, and the German narration. Please ask for permission before using the footage anywhere else.
What’s great is the Gold Coast as it was in 1985, and even the radio (4GG!) playing in the background.

The good old day, no speed camera's no red light camera fuel was 45 cents ltr, Weeknights the roads were deserted,
