Then she meets Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a handsome but mysterious teen whose eyes seem to peer directly into her soul. Vampires are magically reanimated human corpses which are inhabited by the spirits of the deceased person and who closely resemble the living human they were before their transformation. Vampires feed and survive on the blood of the living, typically on that of humans, and they can also transform other humans into more of their kind by sharing their own blood with them. Vampires are one of the many known supernatural species that were created by witches, albeit through the creation of their progenitors, the Original vampires.
A human who has consumed vampire blood in some way (whether by drinking it, having it poured into their open wound, or by being injected with it) and has subsequently died with the blood in their system will be magically revived as an undead vampire, just like the vampire who sired them. The exact nature of the human's death is irrelevant to this process; the only condition that must be met is that the body has to be more-or-less intact and able to function once they reawaken in transition, though the upper limits of physical damage upon a human body by which vampirism can recover has yet to be defined.
Vampire In Transition
In order to complete the transition into a vampire, the person must then consume a significant amount of human blood, at least a sip's worth, within the next twenty-four hours, or else they will die. Vampires can only feed on human blood in order to complete their transformation-animal blood or vampire blood is not sufficient to finish the transformation from human to vampire. However, in this case, "human blood" can include the blood of a human witch, as was proven by Alaric Saltzman and Camille O'Connell, who both completed their transformations by drinking the blood of witches Bonnie Bennett and Vincent Griffith, respectively. Additionally, the blood need not be from a live human; Caroline Forbes and Esther Mikaelson (while possessing Lenore) both completed their transitions by feeding on donor bags of human blood and Vicki Donovan completed her transition by drinking from the newly-deceased Logan Fell, who would then awaken a short time later to find himself in transition as well.
A vampire in transition is neither truly living nor truly dead until they make their choice to either complete their transition or to abstain from feeding and ultimately die. This puts the semi-vampire in a strange liminal space between the two states that can affect them in different ways. For example, a vampire in transition is immune to the effects of a dark object known as The Serratura, which is said to create an impenetrable barrier through which nothing living or dead can pass; this was evidenced by the fact that Camille, while in transition, was able to activate the Serratura inside of a shipping container to trap Tristan de Martel inside without being trapped herself. In a similar vein, until a person in transition drinks human blood to complete their transformation, they will not be susceptible to the standard weaknesses of a vampire (i.e. they can still walk in sunlight and can enter homes without an invitation).
The supernatural forces that sustain vampires also endow them with superhuman physical abilities as well as powers of mind control. Their physical abilities such as strength, speed, agility, durability, healing and senses all grow stronger with age and experience.
Fun fact: Not only does Robert Pattinson sing/play piano and guitar in general, but he actually sings two of his songs in this movie! The song that plays when they're at the restaurant, as well as the song that plays at the end when he's sucking the venom out of her.
I love twilight and I’m not ashamed of it. Sure the middle ones kinda drag in my opinion and some parts are corny but it was definitely such a unique movie. The soundtrack is amazing and the finale is just mind blowing. It’s definitely a saga I watch every couple of years and cmon Edward and Jacob are just eye candy.

My understanding was to not spoil the direct next one and to not criticize his choice of watching the franchise as a whole. I think there’s much bigger problems for you to worry about than my comment, and I’m sure that if he had a problem with it he would kindly let me know, you don’t need to speak for him. Watch the video and spread love, no need to be here trying to be a keyboard warrior for someone and start issues that don’t exist.

I think it was filmed well. The color grading is sooo aesthetically pleasing. I rewatch the series during the cold months 😂

I love Edward’s almost complete personality switch once he realized Bella didn’t care he was a vampire, he became so comfortable and funny (it doesn’t excuse the stalking, don’t do that)

I watched and read this saga as a teen, and now that I'm older, I recognize its flaws and controversies and make plenty of my own headcanons. But it will always have a nostalgic special place in my heart, and I'm not ashamed to love and like it. It really isn't as bad as many nowadays make it up to be and it's sad that liking it seems to be judged so much that it has to be "a guilty pleasure" for many. I really hope that you keep watching and form your own opinion about it. Thanks for this reaction. :)

Personally I can’t get through the series anymore now that I’m older. It’s very cringey and there are a lot of red flags and toxic behaviors/obsessions in the books that I can’t get past anymore. But I still have that nostalgia when it comes to the series and I still keep my books because of that.

It's so aesthetically pleasin as a movie. It had lots of flaws but it's my favorite teenage nostalgia and it hold an amazin place in my heart, one of my favourite comfort franchises ever
One of my favourite things to point out is that even though Rosalie is verbally pretty mean to Bella in the baseball scene, she still leaps into action to help defend Bella from the others. She's literally in front of everyone else right in Victoria's face.
While I will admit that this movie isn't perfect--just like the series in general--it's not as bad as I remembered it and overall, I'm sorry for hating on/making fun of the series. You gotta give credit where it's due, but I'm happy that you enjoyed it. It only gets better from here. 😍
I’m 40 years old and watched all films besides the first one in the theater and I still watch it all the time. If I had watched it for the first time in todays world, I don’t know that I’d be as obsessed but watching it in real time was just so magical. Obviously I’d changed things in the series but I just can’t help it how much I love it

Something I see everyone comment on for this movie is the "she's new but it's weird/unrealistic that everyone would be so interested in her" but as someone who grew up in small towns like this, it is VERY realistic. When I go to the town my grandfather lives, strangers will come up to me and say "Your Jimmy's granddaughter, right? Which one (son) is your dad?" It's very realistic of small town interactions with new people, because like Jessica said "you're the brand new shiny toy" and everyone else, dating or other wise, you've grown up with and almost don't see them like that.
Not to mention when said "new girl" happens to be the daughter of the towns chief of police, that interest goes sky high for one reason or another.

No one makes fun of the Twilight franchise more than us fans 😆 We know the books and movies have huge flaws but it will always have a place in our hearts.
I really respect how you like to go into movies and series with an open mind despite what people might say. A lot of people tend to focus on if a movie is “good” or not, but for me that is totally subjective and all that matters is if you have fun and enjoy it. I can tell you are the same and it makes your reactions even more enjoyable to me. Keep up the great reactions and I can’t wait to see the rest of the Twilight series!

I forgot to mention that Gil Birmingham, who plays Billy Black in this saga, is also in the Kevin Costner show “Yellowstone”.
I didn’t watch these movies until years later, but I think they’re fun. Twilight has a different vibe than the rest. I do think this series gets more interesting as it goes.
OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS SERIES!! I'm not a big fan of the movies but I really enjoy the books, even tho the movies are not perfect, you gotta admit they are extremely iconic!!
note: you talked about the way they interacted being 'cringe', and i agree lol, in the books you can tell how weird both of them are but in the movies they made it a lot more clear. Bella and Edward are both introverts and socially awkward "teens", i think Kristen and Robert portrayed the characters just right.
A thing I learned from the book companion that I love: the reason vampires sparkle in sunlight and are near indestructible is because the vampire venom causes the human cells to become crystalline, making them very strong, and permanently beautiful, erasing physical blemishes and injuries or wounds.
Also, their eye color depends on their diet or what blood are in their body: red - human blood, amber - animal blood and dark when they're hungry.
Honestly, the worldbuilding I find more interesting than the love story, but this series is also one of my guilty pleasures. Great reaction, Cody! Cant wait for you to finish this!

I love the escapism of these movies and am glad you liked it. Sometimes things are just fun and not meant to be deep or over thought. Hope you go on with the series. Not a spoiler, just a tip - there is a post credits scene in Breaking Dawn Part One, not critical but it does add a little set up towards the next movie so when you get to Part One hang around for that

I love the Twilight series lol. I've seen the movies and read the books so many times, I can quote it at this point lol. Is perfect? Of course not but I find it a very nice for just getting lost in another world and numbing my mind! As someone with anxiety, I need those movies and shows that aren't serious and aren't deep thought provoking movies/shows to just escape into for awhile and Twilight is one of those for me.

I never read the books My sister who's the decade younger was obsessed with the books so I tried to watch the movies but I was not super into it I guess I could stomach watching you watch them but honestly the thing I like most about it was the power of that girl Alice and I have seen at least bits and pieces of all the movies there are definitely things to s*** on about this series but there's a couple of good things too One of the things I thought was really cool that a lot of people shadow on is in the last movie and the last movie is the final book split in half kind of like they did with hunger games and Harry Potter

It is quite refreshing to see a reaction of someone who knows nothing about Twilight besides it being about a girl and a vampire. The first movie is definitely very cringy, but has the best soundtrack. My personal favorite is the third movie so I can't wait to see your reaction to Eclipse!

I honestly don't see any cringy moments and I was 26 when I first saw this movie and am 38 now and am still a huge fan of the saga, including the books.

As a male in his early 20’s, I’m not afraid to admit that this movie is a guilty pleasure. It has a great soundtrack and the cringe like aspects are actually quite fun to watch. But the sequels??? 😬 Yeah no thanks 🤣

The reason the Cullens have yellow irises and the other vampires have red irises is because of their "vegetarian" diet. Their eyes turn back to red if they haven't eaten in a while as well.

I know many paraplegics who drive. There cars have hand controls instead of foot pedals. These days they probably have improved the technology 10 fold.

In Stephanie Mayer’s Vampire universe, the venom from a vampire bite basically crystallises every cell in the body making it near unbreakable- hence the sparkly skin. I’m assuming that in this universe the stuff like ‘cant go in sunlight’, ‘stake through the heart’, ‘crucifix’ were things made up throughout history to give humans a sense of false hope against them 🤷🏼♀️
Yes. In the books they shine so bright that from distance it looks like that they are basicly on fire. Good point at the end with the "sense of false hope" 🤔 I like that theory 🙃✌️

I'm sure I've heard about cars for paraplegic people. All the controls are by hand or something. I mean really, we only need our feet for the gas and brake, so if you had a button or switch or something for the gas and brake you could do it all by hand.
I still remember how I found out about Twilight back in 2016, my little sister found it on TV and we were hooked and in 2017 there was a marathon of all the twilight movies playing every Sunday for the entire May but the last movie wasn't aired and I was DEVASTATED and couldn't find the last movie for years lmao
Also my sister told me that she heard years ago I don't know if it's out but she heard that there was going to be another series that parallels Twilight that came out it's canon in the same universe but written from a different character's perspective that character being Edward

The acting and writing is pretty cringy throughout (but it gets a little better in the later movies) and the relationship between Edward and Bella is extremely toxic but it's still a very entertaining movie and series. I always say I hate to love Twilight. Cuz i hate them but enjoy them at the same time. They definitely aren't for everyone, which is completely understandable, but there is a good amount of people who enjoy them so ur not weird for liking it. And I actually really appreciate the first one because it's very much a low budget indie movie with the directing and the cinematography and everything which I think is really cool.
As bad as the movie is I liked the books and I like the fact that the author makes a cameo in every movie. She was Sally at the diner

Omg I love twilight, so let’s talk about the books of twilight and I hope I don’t give any spoilers, twilight the book is good and MIDNIGHT SUN: is twilight but from Edward Cullen point of view it explain he’s side on how he saw Bella and he’s thought about her and the reason why he was in her room and watch her sleep. LIFE AND DEATH the book is also twilight but gender swap Bella is a boy and Edward is a girl, all 3 book the same but very different and I think midnight sun Edward Cullen point of view is so much better then twilight, also there a fan fictions of new moon, eclipse and breaking dawn of Edward point of view that I think it’s better then the movies. Now a other thing the reason why James was so obsess with Bella was because of Alice, so when Alice was in a mental hospital and human Jaime found her but he didn’t know there was a vampire watching out for her, and when the vampire saw Jaime was going to attack her he bit Alice and turn her, by the time Jaime killed the other vampire and went back for Alice he was to late so when he saw Alice again he took Bella as a pay back for what the other vampire did, which is stupid but that’s the story, so I haven’t read the new midnight sun book, but the story about Alice is in the fan fictions midnight sun that was made back when Stephanie Meyer didn’t finish midnight sun. There a lot of things that where left out that r not in the movie which makes Bella look kind of dum but she is very smart but she a loaner that’s why some people will never understand
I know this might get some hate but… at first I was super into all the movies and how romantic they were and I enjoyed watching them but then over time…. I just kinda started letting loose of it for 1 reason only and that was Bella. Idk I just feel like she is REALLY clingy to Edward. She feels like if he isn’t in her life, the only way to solve the problem is to kill her self. It’s her vibe that’s killing it. I’m sorry y’all, it may upset some people but that’s my opinion.
I was 9 when I watched this movie. I used to be obsessed over this movie and the next as a little girl. Now, I can't really stand any of them. I will say that the first movie is the only tolerable one for me when regarding the entire franchise, especially with nostalgia at the forefront. The baseball scene remains the only scene I really like, and the only Cullen I care for is Carlisle.
Omg I’ve been waiting for these jewels, it was a whole phenomenon back then, as many here I was part of the fandom and was obsessed with Robert lol, now I’m in my 20s and it still holds a nostalgic feel, and it’s sort of comforting, the soundtrack is epic, and even though it’s not perfect it’s amazing, I hope you react to the whole saga I would love to see your reactions! I've never understood a human attracted to vampires. Their skin is cold. The thought of being intimate with cold body is super unattractive to me. I can understand an appreciation for their physical beauty, but the thought of any skin to skin contact is pretty repulsive.
