Dude. As a fellow dad, gamer, creative and follower of Christ, you have built such an impactful community. One that I truly feel a part of. I look forward to each cup conversation immensely. Thank you. Keep doin' what you're doin' - We are here to hang out with you and all the others here!
@@jdxcoffee If the conversation continues to cycle through God, games, dad duties and coffee... man I'll be here for the next 1,000+ cups. That's pretty much my whole life lol
3 years ago, i subscribed to you because of your series s video. 2 years ago, i lost my account. I have been searching for your channel for 2 years, i cant remember the name, all i remember "console reviewer dude with microphone on hand", and that is what keyword i always type when i searched you. Glad i found you again. Subscribe again immediately.
Hey JD - personally I’ve really appreciated your videos. You actually feel like a real person willing to share their process and journey publicly on the platform and not just a persona trying to feed the algorithm. As a fellow dad of 2 under the age of 4, I respect the lengths you’re going to keep your gaming hobby alive. This content really speaks to me! Keep it up brother!
Recently learning the `die to yourself daily` with my 8 month old first son. A Struggle. I am as well a christian and its still terribly difficult to understand at times.
It is a shame that some people do not understand the straightforward and symbolic messaging that is put into these cups. Every time there is a new upload I always take the time to watch it the same day, but only after taking care of personal responsibilities first. I enjoy these videos because they either feel like a think tank where an individual or the community can critically think about particular aspects or subjects to gaming as a whole (which drives further discussion and engagement), or like a gaming journey through an individual (which builds a narrative). Keep doing what you are doing Julien and we, the community, will see you on Twitch or in the next cup. God bless. 🙏
“None of these other guys are doing this thing that I am doing” 😂 sounds like you found your niche man. I’m just a dude on the internet but here’s my 2 cents. Been here since cup 60 or so… and 100 percent I’ve been here to watch some fellow dad talk about games a little bit but also hit on some encouragement, some God stuff, some interesting topics, it was comforting. I forget which cup it was that I first saw but somewhere in 60-80 range, and after that it was mostly just game talk about what’s better or worse… and tbh that’s not what I was here for… I agree that you’ve said what you needed to say about “which is better steam deck or Nintendo”. But you really hit something there with talking about your family, talking about what’s on your mind, doing a little bit of game talk, encouraging people (you have an anointing here for sure) even talking coffee. It was like hanging out and connecting with a dude like myself. And I was excited that I was going to be getting that pretty frequently. We have Wulf den and RGT and all those other guys who do basically the same thing as each other. We don’t have what you started on but didn’t really hone down to. You seemed to drift too much into wanting to be another gaming guy. And I wouldn’t have even spoken up but I’ve been here a long time and felt I owed it to you bc in this area you have something special. You’re a master encourager / connector… Focus on that, being a “gaming guy” has held you back. I’ve caught that you have some sort of pastoral history or served in the church in some leadership capacity. I am not saying “talk about whatever, you do you”… I’m saying if you can focus in on young dads or young professionals and young Christians and encouragement and a little bit of game talk and connection you’d really have something there. We don’t have that… at least I haven’t found it yet. I’m not sure if you’re doing this on streams already and I’ve missed it. Streams are cool, but “as a dad 😉” it’s difficult for me to catch those live… and if I dont catch it live… I just won’t watch it.
Sorry I accidentally cut myself off 😂. Probably a good time to do so. I just wanted to offer my perspective on what drew me here and what I found special, and what I mentioned above was it. Been here since cup 60-something and seen every single one. I want to encourage you in your master encouragement / relatability / chatability skill set. 🙌🏻 I wish you the best man and I’ll be here for whatever it is.
@@jdxcoffeeHe is good man 🙌🏻 Glad we can call it a God thing. Your orator / connector / encouragement skills are a gift of the spirit if I’ve ever seen one. ☝🏻
Love it man! I haven’t see anyone in the gaming Dad space, like you are. And I’m here for it. I also loved getting one of the custom designed shirts…any plans to do more? I would totally get more.
Video games and entertainment have begun to feel to me like an obligation instead of fun. Video games are coming out everyday, good or bad but it’s almost a job to keep up with everything going on. I’m planning on taking a break from gaming for a while. Hopefully when I come back it feels fresh and enjoyable. If it doesn’t… I’m not sure what I’ll do. It’s just a day to day thing for me. It’s my normal but it’s shouldn’t be the normal it’s should be something I look forward to. I’ve always loved your videos JD keep the grind going.
Glad to see you've found clarity. It's been great to watch your journey, and I'll try to do better joining your twitch streams to interact, knowing that's what keeps you driven.
From what you're saying in this video it sounds like you're wanting to create the modern 'book club', pick a game with a group of peeps, go away, play it (complete it or not) come back and discuss all things you liked/disliked about it.
I enjoy the discord and try to watch the streams when I can. I’ve seen you more of a dad and less of a gamer. I like that content and it’s unique. Sounds like Cups may be going away. I’d honestly be thrilled for you to post once a week. Give more time to find something to talk about. The way you tell stories is always enjoyable to me but it doesn’t have to be daily. You’re streaming for that. See ya in the community.
While I’m neither a husband nor father, I understand the need for people who share a similar lifestyle and experience so as to relate to and connect with. I’m not sure how many gaming content creators are fathers or husbands as not many focus their content specifically around the relationship between being a gamer and a father/husband to the extent you do. Happy Console Gamer is a husband and father, but he typically focuses on reviewing what he’s playing, ranks games in his favorite series & genres, collabs with his wife and friends on their favorite games, etc. You feel like almost a hybrid between a Christian values and millennial dad lifestyle content creator, with a semi focus on gaming- at least as of late. It feels like you may be better as primarily a streamer instead of creating the cups and what not, as you’re most interested in playing and hanging out with people while doing it. I hope whatever it is, it comes together to be fulfilling for you, brother.
Happy console gamer makes a very good living talking about video games and raising his daughter :))) You’re meeting gamers at church and you have a discord group full of the people you wanted to attract. Discuss the actual games you’re playing with B roll footage from stream potentially?
You say you want to build a community so that you can engage and talk to people about specific things -- like playing through FF7 or Paper Mario. But you spend so much of your time in these videos doing the exact opposite of that. You talk and dance around the same issues ad nauseum, rather than put out any really engaging content or discussion about gaming. You seem to be waiting for the opportunity to present itself where you're magically going to find the niche that drives viewership and engagement but that opportunity is never going to happen unless you make it happen. Instead of making a video about your plans -- why don't you just do it? Let's see a video about paper mario or FF7. I'd watch that. It's at least about something.
You clearly haven't noticed how his channel has grown over the last year in views and subs. And also seem to have taken nothing away from an almost 20 min video if this is your take. Talk about the entire point of these videos going over your head.
Respectfully you’ve commented on his videos multiple times criticizing and saying you don’t understand the content. Why are you still here commenting these novels then? Watch literally anything else instead.
@@yochrisnelson You're right. I should probably stop watching. His videos have become like a predictable bingo board, where you can pretty much tell exactly what his next video will be about. Hitting the same topics, making up new excuses and hints at plans he'll never stick to as he continues to throw everything and the kitchen sink at the wall in hopes that something will stick. Now if only I could get these to stop popping up in my feed..
You should try talking about actual games in these. Hopefully that doesn't come off as snarky. I would love to hear about the games you're playing or have played and games that shaped your life. Playing them is good and fun, but there is somewhat obviously a market and community around just talking about the games we enjoy. Rarely do we play games on the couch with friends anymore, but people still talk about the games plenty. And I think that would actually pair well with your play streams.
That's what the discord is for. that thing is popping. I don't really care too much for "reviewing" games. I would rather play them with the community on twitch or talk about them in real time on discord. I can't do the comment section chats much
