This song was such a well composed song. Even though the members weren't shown in the video, you can really hear their voices through their emotions. Even the graphics presented in the lyric video all had some sort of meaning behind it, whether big or small they all linked well and created a holistically, beautiful message directed to their family members and close ones. Even we had a moment during the filming where we pondered about our parents, and how hard it must be for them to raise us to become good human beings.
Just like how SB19 want to show their appreciation and gratitude towards their family members especially to their parents, through their music, we ultimately want to do the same as well for this channel. This channel started from our passion and continued because of the love and support you guys have showed us. As we always say, without you guys who continually love ad share our videos, we won't be here today doing what we love and what you guys love to watch also. This allows us to push ourselves to create the best content we can to help satisfy the community we have created on here that we are grateful to call family. Our videos are mainly based off of your suggestions as this is how we show appreciation to you guys. So keep commenting your recommendations for us and we will soon but surely check them out!

The reason why the lyric video focuses on a map is because in the Tagalog language, MAPA means map. So, it's a play on words Ma(Mama/Mom), Pa(Papa/Dad) = MaPa. Map = Mapa
Our parents are our maps, they've guided us to where we'll end up in our lives. I also recently found out that MaPa could also mean MAta(Eyes) and PAa(Feet). Mata Paa, MaPa which is a part of the lyrics.

Pablo is such a lyrical genius and I also believe all of them helped in composing this. Huge props to Simon Servida too. He is a phenomenal producer. Everything was emotional, cinematic, and so BALANCED. The song is perfect for me. The only thing it lacks is worldwide recognition 😭 SB19 deserves more.

WHAT? is a song about LOOKING BEYOND, meanwhile MAPA is about LOOKING BACK, where we started with our parents, the reason for a person's very existance. A melody that feels Home💙.

Josh and Ken who sang the 'Papa'..grew up without a father..
they already have a live performance of this...and idk...for me their songs always sound better when performed live...
talked about love for parents..but we dont usually say 'i love you' to them but we show it through our actions...idk..i feel the english translation dont really capture the nuance of the lyicism once translated.

Warning: Long Message ahead. Message below aims to answer some of your questions you have in mind. Hope this helps.
(1) MaPa = Mama and Papa (Parents)
(2) Mapa = Map (English)
(3) MaPa = Mata and Paa (Eyes & Feet)
(4) Lataratara = There is no direct translation (Prolly) for this. This is a lullaby, a hymn normally our Mom makes everytime she puts us to sleep. Remember our [1]MaPa normally just utter any sound tucking us in.
Our Map is our [1]MaPa in this Life journey. Both used and present on this song. This is a masterpiece written by Pablo in collaboration with the rest of SB19. The release of the magical song was intended between the mother’s day and father’s day since the song is for them.
This is a love letter to our parents. For some if not most, we barely tell our parents how we feel inside. This masterpiece will help us do another move to tell them how much we value and love them.
In the song, “we will never get lost because we have the Mapa (Map)”. The map represent our parents. The things they taught us, the sacrifices, the advice they give and hardships. We will never get lost so long as we have the Map (Map). The Map that we can bring anywhere we go. The map that contains all the leanings and guidance our [1]MaPa gave us.
In the Filipino culture (or prolly in other culture), we children have great regard to our parents / elderly. Most of us we would want to give back. Times wherein we just want our parents to stay still, we want to serve them and it’s time for us (children) to do the rest. We want them to rest from the tiresome days and time they give and sacrifices for us.
This song hits the hardest if we have those regrets if not being able to give back and let them rest from those tiring days they spent for us. Regrets prolly due to some unforeseen events. Event where they can no longer hear our “thank you” and gratefulness towards them. Regrets prolly because we don’t have the capability yet of returning the favor (though they never ask for it). Regrets prolly because we are far from them and this pandemic is hindering us of being with them or for any reason.
Normally our parents (MaPa) would not share how hard life is, they would not tell us how tight things are. They would always keep inside them the struggles they are facing and normally they will always show their happy face for us not to worry. There’s this Filipino saying “isusubo nalang nila, ibibigay pa sayo” This can be translated as our parent always put us first.
First part of the song, Justin talks about how our parents (MaPa) prioritize us in all aspects. In the Filipino culture, remember the day when you as a kid cries asking for a balloon and our parent would graciously get some coins and buy one for you. That moment we can only see the our happiness for getting what we simply want, but we cannot see their smile because we are happy with a simple thing.
Josh’s part where he heed the memories and advise his (a) father gave him. That even though they are not together he promised of keeping them. Remember a milestone in our lives, our first step as a baby? Those gently hands guiding not just our ways but most making sure that if we fall, they are there willing to Catch and pick us up and encourage us to try again.
For Single parents out there, you both the Ma and Pa. you alone is the Mapa.
For those OFW parents (MaPa) doing the great sacrifices for their Kids, Salute! Those OFW Kids making every effort to provide and give back their MaPa’s, Salute.

Nice reaction. Thank you for always appreciating their music . This album with what and mapa is about who they are so I think it is so appropriate to write a song about their parents because as you said they are good sons. Also they might have been trained partly based on kpop training but most of Sb19 are lucky enough to be around their parents, parent figures and families during their whole training days and continue up to now. In the Philippines, artists and actors as a rule always have their family around them. I think that serve as a strong support system for them and a reminder that it is not all about work but also just spending time with them to keep you grounded and make sure they don’t get a big head and stay humble.

its not really a topic...because most cultures are not as...i mean 'filial piety'is really important in our culture here...and some people get 'triggered' with these kinds of songs...but thats SB19s real feelings towaeds their parents..this song may not be the popular route but..they are genuine in their storytelling in their songs.
