The vessel actually began sliding before the Queen could announce her name, so she acted quickly and managed to get a bottle of wine over her bow just as she slipped out of reach.
Bad omen
What would have been a bad omen, is an unchristened ship washing out to see. Her quick thinking “saved” the Queen
@@effooo2000 given the long, distinguished and incident-free service of the QE, the "bad omen" was nothing more than utter tosh.
That's amazing - thanks for sharing :)
@@effooo2000not really since the bottle did smash.
The Queen mother had a lovely voice
She speaks just like Queen Elizabeth the ll.
@@Justabitnosey It's the other way around. Queen Elizabeth II speaks like her, her mother.
Now Ik where Margaret got her tone of voice from her mother 🤗
Rip to the queen Elizabeth
well this aged well
*Queen Mother
I love so many ships launched in Britain, we've had some real beauties, but the QE was the perfect sweet spot for me
I loved (LOVED) the Queen Mary to, but she sort of finished off the old style of design, QE for me just had that bit of tradition, with a bit of modern sleekness, it just worked ;)
What's so sad, the box ships we build today (and also the boring steel and glass buildings - mentioning for context), we've lost the pride in design that Victorian and Georgian Britain gave us :( Its tragic!
Interestingly, RMS Mauretania (1938 or RMS Mauretania II) was a perfect design in between these two
That ship is scrapped... The peoples who present there are died... The Queen is passed away... Everything is gone.... The entire visual become a history....But still we like this, bcs... This is our past... This is our heritage... And this is the footage of the race of mankind... May god bless us to create history for the upcoming generation...may they watch us after 100 years just like we watch this video.
Not everyone here is dead, my grandfathers sister was probably there and she is still alive, my grandfather was born a year later and he is dead but could still be alive, anyone born after 1913 and slightly before could still be alive!
RIP Queen Elizabeth 2022
Queen Elizabeth the current queen sounds just like her mother
not so current anymore
I name her Queen Elizabeth. Beautiful
I wish we still launched ships like this.
@kommandantgalileo : I agree. They should lauch ships in this method again. But, unfortunately nowadays because of the priority of " cost " and " efficency," ships are simply built in dry docks. Once the ship's hull is completed , the dry dock is simply flooded, and the ship floated away to be fitted out. How unmagestic that current process is. 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
@@herondelatorre4023 yeah, I know, if they did slipways again, we'd have areas that are flooded every time a new ship launches.
Some of this footage was taken in a titanic movie called a night to remeber
Margaret sounds exactly like her mother
Even just saving a portion of the Queen Elizabeth (i.e. just her bow or portions of her superstructure like what they do with plane hotels) would've been much better than being virtually scrapped.
My great grandfather helped build, anyone remember working with John Irvine
My Grandfather worked on this ship, John Napier. I have a photo of him on that day.
3:18 Did she just said “name her Queen Elizabeth”?!
Yes!
Named for Queen Elizabeth the First.
its already on the video title
No she was not as there has been no Elizabeth I of Great Britain. Our late Queen 's title was incorrect she was Queen Elizabeth . The beautiful liner launched in 1938 was named after the then Queen Consort Queen Elizabeth mother of our late Queen.
RMS queen Elizabeth was a beautiful ship 😢😢😢
They played Rule Britannia
That's when ships were a thing of beauty, not like the sheep ships of today.
A pity what happened to this ship at Hong Kong harbor.
It was a disgrace that this beautiful liner The Queen Elizabeth like her sister ship the Queen Mary and the QE2 were sold abroad. These beautiful liners were built in Scotland and should but kept within the UK especially in Scotland the land they were built in. The Queen Mary in particular was paid for by the then UK Government with our money but allowed her to be sold to the Americans an absolute disgrace. Cunard clearly did not care for British workmanship. Indeed the new liners are awful and an embarrassment certainly not worthy of the illustrious names they bear. Of them all the QM2 is the better looking but still no where near her superior namesake the beautiful Queen Mary. I see the Queen Anne is the newest but like the QE QV looks awful. Gone are the days if beauty and elegance instead we have floating hotels.
Get on with it love
Birth of the legend
If the bottle doesn’t smash it gives the ship bad luck and if it doesn’t hit it at all it’s still bad luck
You are History 👍
