Roland-Garros 2022: from 16 May to 5 June. - Спорт
The thing about him is that not only is he mentally more developed than his teenage peers, he is also physically. Much like Nadal back in the day.
He is a winning machine disguised as a teen
The ideal size for a tennis player in the modern game is about 6'1", 185lbs. Djokovic and Alcaraz are at this frame without sneakers, Nadal is slightly smaller, but any bigger and you generally don't move well, even Tsitisipas and Zverev move awkwardly. Any smaller and you don't have the greater margin for error for net clearance, which is unfair, but it is what it is, and you also find your self having to do more running because of more predictable shots due to fewer angles to work with.
@@Zenigundam nole is 6'2". But yh, not much difference. I have to say though. Alcaraz looks about 1.82m instead of 1.85m
@@Zenigundam Djokovic is slim, he's at 170 lbs, while nadal is 190 lbs. They are all basically the same height
Exactly, his power and agillity for his age are incredible, he has rockets in arms. Good genes I guess
That backhand slice by Khachanov was a beauty. What I love about Alcaraz's game, he forces everyone to play at their best bar few. It makes tennis exciting to watch as a non- partisan viewer.
Federer tribute video:ua-cam.com/video/S6LkBMjvqyc/v-deo.html
True. He has shown that if opponent is not playing perfectly you are not going to win the point.
Exactly ! His tennis is so surgical that he delivers every time against experienced players. Such a joy to watch
La mejor definición que he leído de la forma de jugar de carlos.
Alcaraz hace que el tenis sea también entretenido desde la defensa y que los que suban a la red con asiduidad, se lo piensen antes de hacerlo.
To Khachanov’s credit he did his best even though he knew there was nothing he could do to stop Carlitos. Also, that tweener lob is holy fkn shit good.
Perfect placement
That was incredible!
IKR.

That reminded me of Nadal's tweener against Novak years ago. Took forever to come down but when it did, the crowd went nuts.
He congratulates and hugs his opponents after each match. He doesn't bad mouth anyone at conferences either. If having confidence and fist-pumping a win is arrogant then idk what to tell you about the big 3.
People should leave this kid alone.
I'm just glad Zverev knocked this cocky kid out 👍
@@chiefscheider well I'm glad Nadal, the king of clay is gonna sweep the floor with this 25-year-old flop.

Shot of the year.
@@ryanmonroe875 since it wasn’t a complete winner, wouldn’t say shot of the year yet. But it was still insane
2:04 insane shot
...and it is not just a single lucky shot: he did the very same thing against Tsitsipas some months ago.
@@massimom.146 So true. That was a completely insane exhibition of volleys, tweeners and lobs from both, specially from Carlos
Carlos is making tennis that much more exciting.
I'm afraid he will be so dominant that he will take away all the excitement from tennis.
@@dromeus21 i wouldn't mind that tbh for a few years, especially if Nadal and Djokovic are still playing
Zverev will beat him
@@dromeus21 some another teen must need to come up as his rival like Djokovic, Roger and Nadal was having in their time. Else Alcaraz is gonna end up winning more grand slams than them and too be honest, his game is much superior than the other three(when they were at his age) and my God ,he is very young. Just turned 19 this month?!
@@srivastav3684 carlos alcaraz ' tennis looks superior to the tennis played by nadal & novak, when these 2 were between 18 and 23 years of age, but carlos'game is nowhere ( for that matter nobody ever) nearer to federer's game. The genious in the tennis played by federer between his age of 19 and 25 years ( 5-6 years- year 2002 to year 2007) , nobody ever in this earth can match that talent. Infact, seeing his enormous talent & nobody else to compete with, nadal & novak increased their potential and very luckily for these 2 , as federer was around 6 years elder , dame luck was on their side. If fed had been of same age or like these 2, 5-6 years younger to these 2, these 2 would have won very less tournaments and would have vanished like hewitts, roddicks, nalbandians ( they were of same age as fed)
Goodness gracious. What an amazing point. 1:54
Haven't seen this in such a long time, a young player capturing the adulation of fans globally
Raducanu has captured our hearts
This tweener-lob is simply one of the greatest points I have seen since I started watching tennis 15 years ago. It's unbelievable. He managed to pull the perfect tweener and the perfect lob at the same time. Denotes a mental speed and technicque out of this world. This kid is truly the new big thing and his tennis is truly in the same league as the Big 3.
So true. It's like the one against Tsitsipas but less backwards, more side-ish. At this point I fail to understand which one is most difficult. Blow my freaking sockets off
His reaction wasn't much different for have just made a ridiculously sick shot! There's a new Sheriff in town and he's not taking prisoners!
I thought I have seen it all in Tennis. After watching Alcaraz in this match... Answer is no!. Incredible shots, movements, reading of the game, athleticism, stamina. This guy will let tennis feel less sad with the retirement of big 3. the future is in place!. Vamossss!
My thoughts exactly after 3 decades watching tennis. At this point I'm confident to say he just improvises several times when attacking. "Oh, I mistimed the volley. No biggie, fast step back and mid-court rocket or drop". Any other player would fall back to the baseline or try his initial plan of volley and miss the shot.
@Tony your lack of education renders your message not worth replying. Good luck
@Tony In fact it just happened and it was not necessary for Djoko to kick his ass, Zverev just did it
What a beast. He's got the level to beat anyone right now. Two exciting QFs to look forward to: Djokovic v. Nadal and Alcaraz v. Zverev.
I'm saying he's the future GOAT for 1+ years...
People back then saying he was going to be a fad...they can't do much in life themselves so they cannot handle others winning.
@Thoska Brah 32? Chill.

@@crypticcomputing604 Oh yah I been saying that too. Clearly superior. But Rafa or Nole could still take him if they are on and he is the least bit off.

Plus Federer touch with improved drop shot + lobs from Murray.
And Stan Wawrinka's power too.

I never thought I'd see (or say) this in my lifetime let alone so soon as the three goats, after having dominated for so long, are nearly coming to the end of their careers, but Alcaraz is more complete than they were at his age. There are several top players from the new era who are going to do great things. But, in terms of future accomplishments, if he can avoid injury, I believe Alcaraz has the ability to become thee goat. This kid is going to dominate tennis

@Rafa undisputed Goat Auger-Aliasimme gave him a run for his money, and now Djokovic is going to beat him in straight sets. Maybe for the sake of the Philippe Chatrier fans he might give him a set or two to amuse them, but Djokovic will be the victor and French Open winner eventually. Although my instincts tell me Alcaraz might win his first of many French Opens next Saturday.
@Rafa undisputed Goat Lol!! You are very amusing. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Rafa's reign ended a while back when you were busy attending to your pacifier. Great as he is, Nadal is old and his strenuous way of playing, injuries included will not let him win any more majors. The remaining players can all kick his ass anytime they wish to. Anyhow, my money is on either Djokovic or Alcaraz. I feel terrible for all the Nadal fans. But he had a good run all these years so dont feel bad when he loses.
@Rafa undisputed Goat shut up kid
He is a phenomenon, in two years time, bar injuries, he will be unstoppable!! Wish him well, what a well harnessed talent!! 😇🥳
Most exciting straight set match I’ve ever seen. Last set was a gem. Khachanov did everything to stay in it, but ultimately just fell short of forcing another set.

He's everyone's favorite player. Get on the bandwagon. I like him too.
it's mindblowing how good he is at such a young age. Not only the consistency of the strokes, the abilty to change pace and heights, the tactics, concentration...
TBH i think he's the favorite to win the tournament at this point.
Alcaraz is a prodigy. He is fearless but he has the resources to be fearless. He has apparently no weakness. Commands a good serve, strong on both flanks while his forehand is SOOPERLATIVE. But above all he has resurrected a shot that is almost extinct in tennis for some 40 years- the drop shot. I have never seen any one employ that shot with such lethality after the Indian maestro Ramanathan Krishnan, twice Wimbledon semifinalist. And, significantly, like his illustrious countryman Manual Sanathana, Alcaraz blends his DROP with masterly lobs. Absolutely deadly combination. Only a player like Pete Sampras, with 🧨 EXPLOSIVE first serve- very good service is just not enough- and stunning volley stands a chance against this Spanish prodigy. He is a splendid compound of exceptional mental toughness and a superb physique. His 🐆 panther like court coverage completes the ensemble.
The crowd reaction is so different when Alcaraz plays. Usually, for other players, they are all like”yeahhh” as there’re happy to see their favorite player earn a point. But for Alcaraz, the crowds reaction is “Ohhhhhhh” as they see him deliver sensational points every time
It's hard not to root for him. He's still not the best player, but IMHO already the most spectacular. And with innate passion and confidence for big time moments.
He really is playing like Federer. Heavy forehand, amazing dropshots, good movement and hitting at the net and the tweener on top. Absolutely.amazing.
He is playing like Alcaraz.
You can't play like the king.
Isn't that supposed to be like Nadal?. Heavy forehand good movement and tweener lobs are nadals main attributes. Not federers. Federer does have a heavy forehand though

Djokovic has 4000 points more than Alcaraz. @@drbobinski1 Oh that boy about ready to make some serious inroads, and soon i.e. next 12 calendar months. And barring injury yes 10-year Force to be reckoned with.
Once upon a time there was a player called Medvedev, not Danil but Andrei, who to me is the godfather of the modern drop shot. Before him it was a rare shot but he brought it on as a systematic weapon, on clay. No one went on to copy it though and it gradually faded out of existence again. On faster surfaces it was not very useful anyway. The fabulous Federer would use it once in a while, as a surprise shot, but none of the big 3 would have it as a necessary part of their repertoire.
Then last year Alcaraz appeared on the scene with a drop shot tuned to perfection, both on forehand and backhand, making the court so much larger than it had become in recent years of base line tennis. Slower courts and dito balls had basically destroyed the S&V variant but it took Alcaraz, perhaps Ferrero, to realize the court could be restored in full length by making use of its reduced speed.
This time the top pros rushed to incorporate the drop shot into their repertoire, with mixed success. Alcaraz has his extreme court speed to work with when the drop shot is used against him, while he's also a step ahead by exploring the next shot: a counter drop shot cross court, a deep lift down the line ...
(I don't agree so much on your second point. The tweener lob is not a deliberate tactic, it's an emergency shot. And we've seen it before on occasion too.)
