My brother in law whose name is Jay would joke just like you Jay. Unfortunately Alzheimer’s has robbed him of all his pun and jokes. Every time I watch you and think of the way Jay used to be.
Jay, that was the Union Jack flying over Buckingham Palace, meaning the king wasn't in residence. The Royal Standard flag would be flying when he is in residence instead of the union jack
Elizabeth Line works great from Heathrow. They have room to place your bags. So glad you enjoyed London. Amazing city! Excited for your walking tour. I watch their Vlogs when I went to London in February
I've been watching this series, but not necessarily in order (I skipped to the Regal Princess since we are going on her in 2 weeks). Your videos have been so invaluable. I love all the info you share but I love your personalities even more! I've subscribed and submitted request to join your FB page. Hope to see you guys on a cruise some day!
Great vlog. Perfect reason to pack light. Before you go on Mediterranean cruises try hard to pack lighter because there are tons of cobblestone streets you will need to navigate. 👍
Someone probably already told you, but I'm not patient enough to scroll through all the comments. The King actually was not in residence. The English flag was flying, but not the monarch's standard along with it. I adore London, my favorite place in the world! So awesome to see you guys go through it.
@@parodeejay that was true prior to the death of Princess Diana. Now they fly the Union Jack all the time, and the Royal Standard if the monarch is in residence.
We was in London 20 some years ago spent 3 days there walking around enjoying the city sightseeing then we got on the princess Ruby ship for a 15-day cruise is a wedding present to the wife
Ever notice the architectural similarities from England to DC? Same goes for Picadilly Square to the DC mall NYC with Central Park and Leisaster Square?
I believe there is Uber/Lyft but they're partnered with the taxi service, so you're basically requesting a standard taxi, from my understanding. We ended up using Uber/Lyft at one point later during our London adventure!! :D
Love this video because it showed me what I have in store! My daughter and I will be in London for a week in September and then a week in Bath. We are so excited!!!! Will you tell us the cost of your stay in your little hotel room please?!
Had to laugh at your travel story from Heathrow! We had decided to take the express train into London and had pre booked our tickets. We proceeded to the train, got on and started off when they came through to look at our tickets. Apparently we had hopped on 1st class….oops! Guess that’s why we got the looks from the other occupants of the car 😂
Thanks for showing us part of London! We were there about 5 years ago and there is so much to see and do! Travel is definitely an adventure these days with getting to destinations and getting to hotels. The hotel looked nice but that room was just a bit too small especially the bathroom.
You guys are so nice . if I get in a cab and you tell me you're going to take me somewhere for a certain price and then you tell me to get out, I am going to charge back on my credit card Everything I have already paid you.
Love this look at London through your eyes. Looking forward to more. Yikes😱!! Walking all that way with that much luggage would be tough, but in the true British spirit you 2 just got on with it. Well done! 😀
First trip to London, reserved and paid for a car to pick us (7 people, including 3 elderly people and a disabled adult) at Heathrow. I didn’t know that customs would take so long and didn’t have my phone on, so the guy left. No refund. Ended up half of us taking Heathrow Express and walking to our hotel, other half had to take two cabs. Now we have a better system: buy a ticket on National Express to our hotel near Victoria Station (about 12 or 14 pounds each) and walk 15 minutes to the hotel (we also each had a large suitcase, carryon and backpack). On cruise day walk back to Victoria for 10 am bus to Southampton (prepurchased online about 10 pounds). Highly recommend The Belgrave Hotel -moderately priced (339 pounds for two nights including a very nice breakfast).
I am so excited for the London series. I lived in England for several years so its been fun going down memory lane watching this video. Cant wait to see Back to the Future next year. Its touring nationally starting this year. Happy traveling.
Maybe Elizabeth Line or Heathrow Express to Paddington with then a black cab to hotel due to all that luggage might have been a good option. Heathrow train & tube stations all step-free, but not Charing Cross or Embankment tube stations yet. Still lots of stairs in central London tube stations. Thanks for sharing your London experience with us.
We had researched and found Heathrow Express tickets for 5.50 GBP per person, if you bought far enough in advance. That's probably the route we would use next time around!! :P
We took private car from our hotel to airport for 100 pounds. It would have been 80 for the cab but the desk at the hotel said there might not be a taxi there that early. I felt very bougie! 10 years ago. We were shocked that the London cabbies did not put luggage in the cab for us. We took the channel then cab to hotel which was near Tower of London.
As we show in our Regal Princess cruise episode one right after these London episodes, we used International Friends for our transfer and tour needs!! :D
We did Paris and London in November 2019. Since we were leaving from London we decided to RT out of heathrow and do Eurostar. 6 of us with about 15 bags. We took the tube to Kings Cross. Our flat when we got back to London was about 3 blocks from the tube station. It was a lot, but we managed well. Loved the ease of the tube
London is one of my fave places in the world! Thanks for the memories. 😊 Next time you go to London you must try high tea at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. 🐈
Love seeing you guys in London. So used to seeing you in Alaska or the Caribbean. It's like when a tv sitcom does a special in the UK episode. Like Friends when they all go to London for Ross's wedding....lol
June 10th we did same. Flew into Heathrow, took 2 tubes to Victoria station. Day before, I looked at tube schedule, it was flowing nicely. Now Saturday about 2pm got to earls cross, and all of London boarded the tube with us. And we also have our multiple bags for our princess cruise, and in 3 stops we have to change tube lines, totally jammed inside . At the transfer stop i pushed and pushed our way out of the tube.. We got out and to next one. At Victoria it was so so busy. People everywhere. Instead of walking 10 min to hotel found a nice taxi for 10 pounds. We were glad to be done with that day.
That was great coverage of London. Ive been there quite a few times but not for over a decade The B n B i used to stay at is over 200 GPB now. Your hotel tip is great. Your high tea place so pretty. I used to go to Fortnum n Masons. Your place more interesting. Can't wait for next video 😊 thanks
We had a lovely afternoon tea at Fortnum and Masons, and I can confirm that they had an ice cream bar in another area of the store. Plus, they have awesome shopping there! So sorry for your Black Cab experience. We used the cabs the entire time we were in London, and found the cabbies to be incredible tour guides. As for the tube-we took the tube from the airport(with our luggage) to Victoria Station, where we were staying. The tube was incredibly crowded. 😮
We had the same hotel booked for our pre-cruise stay in June of 2020. When everything shut down, we were able to get refunds for everything except for the hotel. Despite the fact that they closed, they never gave us a refund for the room that we were never able to stay in. I liked the location, and thought it would be ideal to stay there to enjoy the theatre choices.
Wow. That cab story is bad. We were boogie and did the black cab with no issues. Loving the Iceland and London series. I hope the touring version of Back to the Future is good.
As if my wife and I weren’t already excited, Dee’s reaction to Back to the Future put us over the top. We’re seeing the show on Broadway September 19th. Can’t wait!! Great start to the London series, too. Thank you, editing Jay. 😊
Proper etiquette with scones, especially in England, is cream then jam. It’s also not traditional best practice to put jam spread on fruit scones. This is an etiquette that few follow, likely because everyone is so addicted to sugar these days!
That's funny! Apparently even the late Queen preferred jam first, which I guess is the way the Cornish typically do things, and the cream first method is Devonian? Either way, sign us up for more!! :P
Awesome video!! I love London, so much to see and you had a nice sunny day. I can only imagine how hard it was to get to the hotel with all your luggage. Loved your hotel room. I would definitely stay there. Thank you. 😊
You did part of the tour we did but a week later and in reverse as we started near Piccadilly and went toward Trafalgar Square. You may have also seen the real guards coming in at the end there not just the ceremonial ones. We did see both on our tour.
Love that your first breakfast was Greggs. You get Brritish citizenship with 5 consecutive Greggs meals.
Take this guy 5 seconds then........
My brother in law whose name is Jay would joke just like you Jay. Unfortunately Alzheimer’s has robbed him of all his pun and jokes. Every time I watch you and think of the way Jay used to be.
Your vlog timing in London is perfect. We're headed to London next Monday, then jumping on a cruise of the British Isles😊
Jay, that was the Union Jack flying over Buckingham Palace, meaning the king wasn't in residence. The Royal Standard flag would be flying when he is in residence instead of the union jack
Ahaaaaa, good to know! We’d just heard that if there was “a flag”… Thankee!! :D
Land or sea you deliver great videos!
Elizabeth Line works great from Heathrow. They have room to place your bags. So glad you enjoyed London. Amazing city! Excited for your walking tour. I watch their Vlogs when I went to London in February
If the Union flag is waving above Buckingham Palace, it means the king is NOT in residence.

I love this video...... So jealous. England is my dream!!!!
Greggs the small British version of Canada's TIM HORTONS
With the price of the tea I can’t even imagine how much you spent on this 80 day vacation. Yikes!
If the royal standard is flying over Buckingham, the king is home. The flag you saw meant he was not at home.
Ahaaaaa, good to know! We’d just heard that if there was “a flag”… Thankee!! :D
I just commented the same thing.
@@parodeejay that was true prior to the death of Princess Diana. Now they fly the Union Jack all the time, and the Royal Standard if the monarch is in residence.

My Hubby and I want to do a British Isle Cruise in a few Years. Thankyou for this! I'm very excited to Watch the entire Playlist. Subbed ya!!
That's coming to Cleveland Broadway series next year!
Agree with you , Jam always first then cream on a Scone.
Love London have visited twice on holidays from Australia.
Glad your having a great time.😊
Just discovered your channel. Like both your commentary style.

Stupid question. Is there no Uber or Lyft to use?🤔
I believe there is Uber/Lyft but they're partnered with the taxi service, so you're basically requesting a standard taxi, from my understanding. We ended up using Uber/Lyft at one point later during our London adventure!! :D
Y'all seen a lot of stuff and things thanks for sharing the video
So near yet so far. Ah well next time i'll do a better job. Seriously it is wonderful to see you over here.😃. Your the best.
If the royal standard is flying about a royal residence the monarch is there. That was just the Union Jack. So he wasn’t at the palace.
Spread the jam then dollop the cream on top ❤
Love this video because it showed me what I have in store! My daughter and I will be in London for a week in September and then a week in Bath. We are so excited!!!! Will you tell us the cost of your stay in your little hotel room please?!
How in the world do the maids put sheets on that bed!?!
And now the twitter comment makes sense

Fantastic Video! Looks like an Amazing time. Looking forward to this whole series!
The flag that signifies the King is in residence is the Royal Standard, they fly the Union Jack at other times.
Love London! I did LOL at American Candy! It’s very fitting to start the series on July 4! :-)
That is what thye do they know you a tourist and they will take the long way around and think you will pay the extra.

Heathrow express is definitely the easiest. It's not cheap but then neither was the taxi...
We had researched and found Heathrow Express tickets for 5.50 GBP per person, if you bought far enough in advance. That's probably the route we would use next time around!! :P
